Which is the best curry restaurant on Lordship Lane?
Willard replied to bh28's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Not on Lordship Lane, but 5 minute walk - Kokum is one of the best Indian restaurants in London. https://www.theguardian.com/food/2024/feb/16/kokum-london-dulwich-se22-grace-dent-restaurant-review -
Just after 11 this morning a teenage lad (about 15 or 16) knocked on my door saying he had lost his cat and asked me if I'd seen it at all. Being a cat lover I felt sorry for him and said I'd keep an eye out. He told me the cat was called Milo and showed me a picture. I took a photo of his flyer and have attached it here. I asked him if he'd reported it missing here on the EDF and whether it was microchipped. He said yes to both. 30 seconds after he'd left I had a 2nd glance at the picture which reports a missing cat called Daisy and then realised something felt wrong. I went outside in to my road and found him lurking behind a van with 2 friends. I approached him and asked him the name of the cat, he replied Milo. I then asked why the photo mentions a cat called Daisy. They looked very sheepish and he said he got his friend to make the flyer and he'd messed it up. I called them out as bulls***ers and said if I saw them near my property again I'd contact the police. I videoed this exchange and have the faces of all 3 lads. I will not be posting it on here for obvious reasons. Needless to say there is no missing cat on here called Daisy or Milo and the number to contact on the flyer is not recognised. My guess is they are scoping houses to see if people are in or away on holiday. I also have a motorbike in my front garden which could be a factor. Is this worth contacting the police about? Would be very happy to recommend Will who has been giving me guitar lessons since last summer. Guitar was something I came back to in lockdown, but only ever having been self taught I needed help moving up a level. Will has given me a better grounding of basic music theory which is more useful than I had anticipated and also helped me to explore improvisation and lead patterns with pentatonic scales etc. Lovely guy and patient too (which must help with me!)

Ha nice. Love one of the comments: "After killing thousands of men women and children Boudicca was defeated and killed herself. So there's hope." Penguin... When people describe racists or indeed racism as "petty" then I'm afraid they're part of the problem. Nobody suggested that ED is a hotbed of Brexit racism, you brought that into it. However, in terms of the evidence of Brexit normalising and leading to an increase in incidents of racism, how much more evidence do you need? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-48692863 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/07/28/subjected-racism-since-brexit-rest-career-altogether-former/ https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/may/20/racism-on-the-rise-since-brexit-vote-nationwide-study-reveals https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/top-stories/baroness-warsi-on-brexit-and-racism-1-6477081 When you have a rightwing coup in Westminster, a racist in number 10 and scum like Farage, Yaxley-Lennon and Hopkins given the oxygen they crave by mainstream media, then yes it is inevitable. -
Rosie's Fish Bar, East Dulwich Road. Good take away, but you can also eat in at the back which means the batter is super crispy and the chips lovely and hot. Also a BYO, so bring a nice white!

Crown and Greyhound, Dulwich Village. The Herne Tavern and EDT open for a couple of hours....

Not exactly on our doorstep but not too far, Sanxia Renjia in Deptford is good. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/jan/14/sanxia-renjia-london-enough-excitement-for-a-month-restaurant-review The dishes come in quite large so probably works better in groups of 3 or 4 to share and try a few, as opposed to solo or couples. Also +1 for Steamers on Rye Lane, their lunch boxes are great value.

Car broken into twice in past week
Willard replied to Peckham Park's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
So am I right in thinking that this is only possible with the "keyless" entry type remotes? Can more conventional central locking remote keys (where you actually have to press a button as opposed to just approach the car) be cloned? -
Pardon my French, but I think it looks shite. What a missed opportunity.
-
Basically just do it, you won't regret it. It saves you time and money in the long run. It's fun (obviously more so in the summer) and London just becomes a smaller place because of the freedom of just jumping on your bike and being somewhere central in 25 minutes. Not going to repeat all the very good advice above about safety etc. Will give another recommend for Mungo. Top bloke, great teacher.

I rarely carry cash these days, ever since contact less pay came in I just carry cards in my wallet. And since apple pay came in I rarely even carry a wallet these days. Anyway, just my 10 pence worth.... -

This is what I do too. Uber to East Croydon isn't too pricey and then jump on a fast train and you're there in 14 minutes for another ?5 or so. Best time v cost compromise. slarti b Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Uber\minicab to East Croydon then train to > Gatwick.

"A classic example of trolling there Sue " quipped the troll. I also think the shop front looks cheesy. Is expressing an opinion trolling now?

cella Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why? Because they help ease congestion and hence already alleviate pollution. It is hard to take this scheme seriously when disgusting noxious old black cabs are allowed to continue to pollute. I had to walk through the Euston station underground car park recently, past a line of 50 odd black cabs waiting for customers. All just sat there with their engines idling. I had to put my jumper over my mouth to stop myself being sick.

Fingers crossed for you, hope you get it sorted.
