  1. Friendly ginger and white cat, female I think, tried to follow us home this evening. She seemed confused, she had no collar and was running over the road and back. Worried about her getting her run over. I already have a very similar one at home from the exact same situation so we couldn't let her follow us. Please Let me know if you know where she lives, perhaps I'm just worrying for no reason. Thanks.
  2. Does anyone know what's happened? Road is closed and there are loads of flashing lights...
  3. Nightmare at LB tonight - experienced the new farm yard penning system!
  4. Sydenham Woods! It's gorgeous...
  5. Shame you seem so angry about it Louisa. It's just an opinion after all. Nicely said PokerTime.
  6. Neilson99, totally agree with you! Those who don't like it should stick to East Dulwich, I'd hate to see Peckham Rye gentrified... Keep the culture and the buzz!
  7. I like seeing and hearing kids laughing and playing in the street, it's great to know they're not sat in front of the TV like so many other kids. It's natural and gives them a good experience of socialisation, unlike the ones spending all their time on iPads and laptops. Not too keen on the tumble weaves though!
  8. No, the neighbours popped in to look after the cat so lights went on and off.
  9. Sorry for the delay. Both doors have two different types of locks (I don't know what they're called!) so you need four keys to get in. Luckily by boyfriend is working from home so we should fine. It just seems a coincidence that this has happened two days after we've returned from holiday - like they've been watching the house.
  10. You're a very kind man Bryan.
  11. Please see my earlier post...
  12. OK, so he isn't at 86, I've reported him to the police and they have someone in the area to look out for him. Please keep your doors double locked and your eyes peeled!
  13. Ok thanks, I will. I'm on Barry Road and I'm going up to number 86 to find out if they were expecting anyone...
  14. A man just approached my front door and it sounded like he was fiddling with the lock. I rushed to open the door and startled him. He had a piece of paper in his hands and was hiding something. He said he'd made a mistake and was looking for number 86. It clearly states my house number on the front door so that's a lie. He ran off. He was white, short and fat with a shaved head and was wearing baggy jeans and a baggy grey hoodie, I reckon between 18-25. I hope I'm wrong and he was just a carpenter or builder at the wrong house... Please be aware. Should I report this to the police?
  15. Thanks for the suggestions, Uncleglen especially. Went to Brockwell Park on Sunday - fantastic!
  16. Does anyone know if there's still enough snow for sledging anywhere in ED?
  17. I'm glad so many of you like to save snails too. I collected them all from my garden once in a bucket and emptied them into the grounds of Brixton church. We need more hedgehogs - they are a gardeners friends. Although only really for those with enclosed gardens minus the foxes! http://www.thehedgehog.co.uk/adopt.htm Re the foxes, I had the pleasure of watching two on my pathwway last night as I'd put a few cat biscuits down for them (ooops). The male stood guard while the lady ate - so beautiful. Understood that I really shopuldn't encourage them or feed them but one day wild animals like these will be extinct so we should appreciate them while we can :)
  18. Pearson, was it you?
  19. Neil, It's sad that you feel that way, and it's sad that you've never had the pleasure of enjoying the unique companionship and loyalty that a dog can give you - they really are good for the soul. Perhaps you don't have a soul in which case you're probably pretty unhappy. It's also a shame that you could wish that kind of loss on anyone that does love their family dog - how traumatic it would be! And that's an amazing thought for you? How awful...
  20. Is anyone else asked where Jane Baker lives by a certain member of the community on a regular basis?
  21. First mate: "I also do wish that certain people would not let their in- season bitches run around the park offlead- simply bonkers and so irresponsible." I agree that I should be kept a lead in the park at all times ;-) And I have to say going round the park at full speed on one of those two-seater tricycles is incredibly fun! Everyone should try it!
  22. First mate - do you agree that if dogs should "remain in a rock solid sit/down stay, offlead, for the duration of your time at the cafe" so should really annoying loud children who run about screaming and ruining everyone's peaceful tea and cake? I'd much rather a couple of dogs wandering about having a sniff, wagging their tails and saying hello to people than badly behaved untrained children.
  23. Sorry - that's ridiculous. People can turn too! How many crazy people are there around? Shall we start putting straight jackets on people over a certain size "just in case" as you never know! I was also going to say about smaller dogs being more vicious but didn't want to offend any owners. I agree that a jack russell is more likely to bite you than a labrador, or even a rottweiller who is a family pet is just not interested in biting people - it's just not their nature if they've been brought up in a family environment.
  24. Haha! SteveT - Do you really honestly believe that every dog "weighing more than 5lbs or 2.5 kilo's should be muzzled"? Seriously? So soppy golden retrievers? and labradors? Can you just imagine? That's just ridiculous - admit it!
  25. Has anyone been bitten by these rats? I agree we leave them for the foxes to feed on - they'll need them with the cold winter approaching. That's if the evil man trapping them hasn't killed them all of course... let nature run it's course that's what I say.
