  1. Hello Does anyone know if the childrens centres are open again now half term is over? I know they sometimes have extended breaks. Thanks in advance
  2. I go to Bookstart at the Albrighton centre with my toddler, and there is an increasing amount of babies there (mostly as siblings to a toddler). It can be rather chaotic but there is plenty to entertain even the most fussy of toddler. Gymboree also have family sessions, and the open gym sessions are great.
  3. TE44 - the UK does not use this brand of vaccine, and the claims are about Merck falsifying how effective their vaccine was for preventing mumps, not about side effects etc. It was an interesting read tho.
  4. We had a fantastic roast at The Herne on sunday (only criticism was that it needed more gravy!). They are very relaxed re children and have play area outside (weather permitting). Another advantage is that the playground in peckham rye park is not far away.
  5. How old is your son? There are soft play sessions at the Albrighton centre for a variety of age groups. gymboree offers structured classes but also has daily open gym sessions (including sat) which makes it worth the money imo. You can get a 'fun pass' that means you don't have to attend a structured class. Peckham pulse has also got soft play, and I've been looking into cheeky monkeys in Kennington which would be a bus ride away. There is also Jelly tots in Herne Hill. We've got pretty good provision, really!
  6. Bookytea - there is a significant sleep regression at 4 months, so maybe this isnt helping matters? It seems that some children sail through these developmental stages with a mere blip whilst others let you know about each and every one of them. My son is one of the former. At nearly 14 months he has slept through a total of 5 times, and really does seem sensitive to any changes. However, some of my friends have children like your daughter. I have done some gentle sleep training, and the main thing that has made a difference is night weaning, but all of the literature i have read on sleep training is to wait until they have passed each developmental stage. the wonder weeks app helped me realise when these were and i could plan around these. Good luck!
  7. I found the crooked well on Tuesday mornings great, as it is more of a chance to meet other mums whilst having a coffee and a pastry, as well as having toys for the babies. I also loved the Ivydale centres baby group on Wednesday afternoon. The Ivydale is a bit harder to get to but either the p 12 or 13 goes there. Crooked well is easy.
  8. Thank you both, but unfortunately, it's all in the detail for this young man. We'll keep looking on ebay x
  9. Hello? A friends autistic son has lost his beloved Pat4 postman pat van and is distraught so we are trying to get a replacement.? We have just missed out on one on ebay buT will keep looking. Unfortunately it has now been discontinued by the manufacturer.? If anyone has a 'spare' please could we buy it?? It's the one with the double stripes down the side? Thanks
  10. Hello there Does anyone know how to go about hiring the hut other than by phoning Barbara? Have been trying for nearly two weeks with no joy. I'm actually starting to get a bit worried about her tbh. Any ideas?
  11. I've been to bubbly bees soft play at the green dale hut. Two sessions per day. Bit pricey at 5.50 for over 1s but you get a cuppa with that and there is a good range of toys and soft play stuff and a sing song at the end. Is on edtots
  12. I just want to recommend the Crooked Well on tuesday mornings, and the baby group at the Ivydale on wednesday afternoon. I found both invaluable when i had few local baby-mummy friends. Both friendly and inclusive imo. Im very glad that there is a FB group too - I was part of Autumn Babies Club (ABC)2013 on here and we now have a thriving FB group and regularly meet up/post rubbish/ask advice. I struggled with PND and had no local friends, I really dont know what I would have done without the ABC ladies and babies. You will meet loads on other new mums in the same boat and realise that everyone is going through the same thing to some degree. Good luck!
  13. I could never work out how to use the insert properly anyway... We just ended up wrapping our boy in it. Kept him nice and warm over the winter.
  14. Yes, I've seen those two - do they fold flat when they are parent facing, do you know? I guess a trip yo mothercare may be in order to make enquiries. Incidentally, I'm asking as have very limited space, sharing a very narrow hallway with a couple of bikes.
  15. Unfortunately, even second hand ones look out of my budget on Gumtree, any other suggestions?
  16. Thanks both. Should probably mention that both of us parents are tall, so are the handles adjustable?
  17. Hello I am looking to pick up a parent facing pushchair for my 5month old, but wonder if anyone can advise on whether some chairs can be folded flat with the seat parent facing. I went to see a chair today and it has only just occurred to me that the chairs may need the seat removed prior to folding. I am on a budget, so if anyone is selling one I may also be interested!
  18. A friend is still swaddling her boy at 20weeks...
  19. We've found a nursery just by my husbands work, so he can do the pick up and drop offs in theory. Not put it into practice yet as my boy is only 3 months
  20. Yes, the chemist on north cross road. I had some lovely responses from forumites when I asked the same question a couple of months ago x
  21. I may see you there then! We're doing the Monday morning course.
  22. Try peckham pulse. They have a course of 10 for about ?64.
  23. I saw the ninja too :)
  24. Re the bouncy chair rather than door bouncer, I told her I'd just bought one and she said she hoped I didn't spend too much on it as he'd outgrow it quickly!
  25. Buggie, was definitely door bouncer as I kept questioning her. She's a nice lady, just gives really weird advice. Def a hv tho.
