They sell cds in the Mind shop on Goose Green roundabout, and also in Oxfam (the general one not Oxfam books) in Herne Hill, so they would prob accept them in those shops. Were you turned away in St Christophers? Last time I asked them where the music was they said they didn't sell vinyl and cds any more, I wonder why?

We received quite a few yesterday and added them to our 'display'. People have taken the time to choose and send them and written newsy messages inside, seems a shame just to leave them in a pile/drawer/bin. Took all other decorations down yesterday so hope that covers the 'bad luck' thing...

Thanks all, now I can stop faffing around with it and just wait.....

Is anyone else having problems with Virgin Media tv today, or is it just us? (Goodrich Road, Lordship Lane end). Thanks
-
Yes, Forest Hill Road GP texted me yesterday and I have an appointment next week, they had lots of dates available. Was very well organised and easy last year. I'm also having the pneumococcal? jab at the same appointment, so two aching arms...?

My partner popped out this evening to the small Sainsburys near the Plough and somewhere along the way has lost his keys - a silver coloured front door key and a longer gold coloured door key, also a bicycle key, they're on a plain ring. We've asked in Sainsburys of course. He walked up Landcroft Road then turned right along a bit of Crystal Palace Road to Lordship Lane. Thanks.

Forest Hill Road Group Practice
another annie replied to woodvale's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes, I got that text message at around midday today, thought it looked a bit odd, too, so didn't open up the whole message. Coincidentally I'd booked my second covid jab at Tessa Jowell earlier this morning (hoorah!)after a whole weekend trying, so I wondered if the text was connected with that and just made to look official. But then I'm a very suspicious person/worrier... -
Yes, I'm in my sixties and was pleased to received the link to book my second jab (at TJ or Lister) yesterday morning. Have been logging in to book a slot pretty much hourly since then, but the website always says there are no available appointments at either surgery. Maybe I've just been unlucky with timing. Received a further text today reminding me to book my appointment, which was a bit irritating.

The lady who invented the London A to Z lived in Court Lane Gardens, there's a plaque on the front of the house. Apparently she walked the streets to gather the information (no Google earth then...). Robert Elms came to unveil the plaque around ten years ago.

Pair of jays in our tiny back garden this afternoon - well, I assume it was pair, though they looked identical? Have only ever seen them up in the trees in the woods before, didn't realise they were so big. One found some worms to eat while the other kept watch from the shed roof. They looked so exotic, made my day!

Re: Sian's query above - I received a text from Forest Hill Road Practice on 6th Feb saying they were anticipating vaccinating the over 65s 'in the coming weeks', and told to reply YES if I wanted the covid vaccination. I texted back YES but haven't heard anything more from them yet.

Thanks, good idea! We'll check that.

Trouble is if we're getting some letters, we don't know/suspect what might be getting held up. We thought our deliveries weren't too bad, then today my partner received a hospital appointment he has been waiting for. Trouble is, the appointment was more than a week ago. The letter from Kings was posted on 9th September. So, more waiting and worrying for him, and a wasted appointment at the hospital.

Belair Park - Covid Testing today
another annie replied to beansprout's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
They're not at Belair any more - does anyone know where the nearest testing is now? Billingsgate is the nearest we can find thats up and running at the moment. Thanks! -
I usually take them to the recycling bin specifically for plastic bags just inside the main exit of Dog Kennel Hill Sainsburys, it was still there when I shopped last week, I made a note of it as we've got a load to recycle as well

Awww... you're a star! Do let us know what happens!

Re your goldfinches, that could be us, Malumbo... a pair have started visiting us in Landcroft Road, I had to look them up in my bird book, very exciting! One hangs on the very floppy branches of a tamarix tree eating the bugs in the cuckoo-spit, while the other sits on the fence keeping watch. Made my day, could we share them...?

Distance keeping in small local independent shops
another annie replied to NewWave's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Agree with comments about the Plough local Sainsburys, but have to say on the plus side the staff there are still managing to smile under difficult circumstances. And they have to be there all day. Would suggest in particular closing the middle self-checkout, they are so close together anyway and yesterday the person next to me had 2 children with them as well... and limiting the numbers a bit more, no one would mind the extra wait if it meant a safer shopping environment. -
Don't know if they have any at the moment, but I've bought torches from the Plough Homecraft and from Farmers in the past, both shops are still trading

Shops staying open in the lockdown when they shouldn't.
another annie replied to Freddo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm on the mailing list of HaveBike in Camberwell, they say they're allowed to stay open so that key workers can use/get their bikes fixed. They also do a 'collect and return' service to your home so you don't have to visit them. Haven't ever used them though, I get the emails because they were doing free bike checks in Brockwell Park years ago -
Ours is off, Goodrich Road, Lordship Lane end.

'virtually ignored' - Monica please don't think your efforts with the physic garden so far have gone unnoticed, I enjoyed looking around it last year when visiting the hospital for a blood test. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Great idea, esp for that situation.

I got an early train (about 5.30am I think) from Denmark Hill back in December. I got to the station stupid early and hung about by the barriers for a while before going down on to the platform. As you say, no staff, but I reassured myself slightly by thinking about how many security cameras there must be. I was the first one there but felt better when a couple of other passengers arrived on the platform, by the time my train came there were I think 3 or 4 of us waiting, no chat of course but a v slight acknowledgement from one or two. I'd do it again if I had to, probably safer actually at the station than walking along the street at that hour. Safe journey! Annie
