Looking for a good local cab company (not Uber)
another annie replied to Azalea's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We have used Rye Cars several times now. They send text message updates (booking confirmed, your car is on its way, approximate fare etc). The cars are clean and roomy, and the drivers friendly and helpful. Rye Cars 020 7732 7000 -
Driving lessons in a Mini?
another annie replied to another annie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thank you SpringTime for your reply, yes that sounds like the one. Don't mind if instructor is male or female as long a they have loads of patience, but I know what you mean, Annie -
Looking for a local driving school that gives lessons in a Mini, I'm sure I used to see some around here? I have a full driving licence but haven't driven for years so I'm very out of practice, and need to start driving our family car.

Royal Mail Late Deliveries and the price we have to pay
another annie replied to a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks for the reminder nellie. Have today received two letters dated February 2024. Heading down to Highshore Road tomorrow to see if there's anything for us. I'm getting obsessive about missing/late arriving bills since having our phone and broadband cut off when we hadn't received (so hadn't paid) a bill from BT that had been posted to us. I now keep a note in my diary of when the various utility bills are expected, and phoning them when I think something is due, invariably they say the bill has been sent out. It shouldn't be so hard. -
Just been there, see what you mean! its like some strange shopping-themed nightmare. In case anyone is looking for the toilet paper in DKH Sainsburys, I eventually found it in the far corner by the customer toilets. Which has a certain logic to it I suppose.

Outside the church in Coplestone Road (last time I looked) Junction of Friern/Etherow Street (small painted box in the garden hedge) There's also a small one on Forest Hill Road by a front garden gate, its on the left if you're walking up the hill from FH surgery towards Honor Oak

Found a statement lying in our front garden yesterday. At least it hadn't been opened... -

Also noticed one today on the left hand side of the road that runs along the top of the woods from Lordship Lane towards the Wood House pub. -

Still receiving Christmas cards - 3 today - so have left them on display (is that bad luck...?).So our friends and family do care! Plus a bank card today that was ordered weeks ago, had already cancelled it and replacement was sent direct to bank. -

Thank you, that's really helpful! Now you mention it I think I've done that in the past but had forgotten it was an option. So it'll be a mixture of online and local shopping for me as usual. Annie -

Delighted to get 2 items of post this week. However when I phoned the sender of one item in Scotland to thank her she said she had posted it a couple of months ago! A catalogue for my partner had special offer prices if he ordered by 10th November... The only 'good' thing that I can see coming out of this is no way am I risking ordering any Christmas gifts on the web this year, all my purchases will be made from our many lovely local traders. -

Blast from the past - Computer Support
another annie replied to FraddsMan's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think that might be Chris Essex-Hill? He also helped me set up my apple computer, but years ago. Not very useful as I can't find his contact details (I'll carry on looking) but the name might ring a bell with someone? -
Not technically south-east London, but I've bought a few pieces (turquoise/silver pendants etc) in the past from Wilde Ones in Kings Road, Chelsea. Great shop, tho I haven't been over there for a few years.
