  1. Recently I read 'Gifted' by Nikita Lalwani and I have to say it now sits in my top 10 best books ever (cross-referencing here Keef). It's not actually published yet but will be in June. Read all about it here: http://www.penguincatalogue.co.uk/lo/general/title.html?titleId=3170&catalogueId=210 Heartily recommended for a good summer read.
  2. Thanks Dave! DM - I really wouldn't want you to steal my thunder! I was thinking about asking Batdog to be a page boy/puppy though.
  3. Boss is away
  4. This is REALLY naughty but one day when not in ED, try the Balham Bar and Kitchen - yum yum and yummy. Back to darling ED, however, and I reckon the Black Cherry would be your best bet. Something in the wallpaper.
  5. No nonsense at all dear Keef. Was good to meet some of the 'other halves' too.
  6. They'd be so much better off redesigning the second room. Or apply for a licence to serve food a la Green and Blue. There's only so many lavendar/rosemary/royal jelly infused pots of mustard/honey/olive oil for ?5 a pop you can buy. I think they get too carried away with the festivities too - hence the knocking down event that started this thread. As Louisiana said, you can't move without hitting someone/something. Maybe they could make the till area separate and put it in that second room; impossible to queue at the deli bit where it is now ... anyway, err, all my humble opinion.
  7. Why Mr JJS, thanks for the 'thumbs up'. he is very sound; he even washes up! It was great to meet y'all. Bumped in to Simon and v cute son the next day in 'Market Fresh'. Good work on the money collecting MP! PD
  8. Where is Shambles by the way? Haven't heard from her since she went off for three-generational Easter event ...
  9. Finds it scarily easy to tuck into a tasty bottle of red only 24 hours later Enjoys the view from the balcony Night night (nearly)
  10. The bloke who is always working there (maybe the manager but not the owner) is a real know-it-all (although to be fair he once popped a loaf of bread in my bag of goodies near closing time). Not long ago I was in there and the owner was ranting soooooooooo loudly on his mobile in the middle of the shop to a supplier who was chasing him for an outstanding bill. Mr Owner was telling him how much he spends with him and therefore there was no need to chase him for the money. Obnoxious bloke; why does he think his customers wanted to hear that? Frankly put me off going in there again, which is a shame as there are some v tasty things (although extremely expensive).
  11. I'm a pink square too Mockney so it seems. So predictable ... time to square off home and make some lists but in a sensitive caring way.
  12. Chuff, this is horrid. Are you seriously saying that this person feels she can dictate who parks outside her house? No she can't. If you blocked her driveway then that's a different matter. Do not let her bully you into moving - expensive, stressful and ridiculous. As Ratty points out, these things can become more serious. Not that I think she desverves it, butyou could buy some biscuits or chocs or something and pop round to talk about it with a nice cup of tea. If she still feels the same, learn to ignore her (it's the sort of thing that would reduce me to tears but it's not worth it). PD
  13. Feels the same as Huguenot but due to huge numbers of postings still to read. Thinks - this is what happens when you step away from the computer for a few days. Settles down in hammock with laptop and very long straw dipped at an angle in a large bottle of San Miguel.
  14. What's a PITA Piers? Remember Lah Lush and MadWorld74, a squabble is only a wobbling squirrel ...
  15. Happy Easter my fellow forumers wherever you may be. Shambles, remember that counting to 10 in the loo and then swearing a lot often helps in times of trouble, as does a hip flask. Off to Cornwall to visit the entire Hairy Smelly Love family. Until next week! PD xx
  16. Likewise Ant. Didn't look good and from what people were saying it was pretty serious.
  17. Equally will chip in with some dosh. We have two camping chairs and two small stools to lend. Have we decided what 'events' the EDF will display? I saw a brilliant thing at Fruitstock last summer - a human fruit machine.
  18. On a similar note, the actor who plays Ian Beale in EastEnders has just filmed his 2,000th episode!
  19. Maybe 'the Guardian' circulation figures would tell us all we need to know ...
  20. Exactly Mark. Kathryn, I was trying to buy the little fishies in Somerfield cos it was well after 6pm ...
  21. *Wipes DM's 'hard stool of repentance' up adn blames it on Batdog* (sorry DM, couldn't help myself, scatalogical humour an' all that) *Hides Easter eggs in all the nooks and crannys*
  22. It's this. Any good? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6502210/Trail/C$cip%3D36581.DIY,+garden+and+car%3EC$cip%3D36634.Garden+furniture%3EC$cip%3D36640.Gazebos+and+garden+awnings.htm
  23. We have camping chairs but no marquee, actually I think my ma and pa might have one still, not huge and not strictly a marquee, more like a gazeebo, is that the word? If I was good and it wasn't late I'd find a pic and post it. It's stripy! I'll see if it's available.
  24. Keith, this is very wierd. What do you think it's all about? Maybe they're from Maxin's ... and are hoping to catch you chomping on some KFC
  25. Rant time: waited at the unmanned fish counter the other day for ages, couldn't spy the lady who normally serves there so asked a 'Market Fresh' employee if he could pass me some tasty fillets. He toodled off to find someone only to return saying no-one was available to serve me. When I asked whether he could maybe give me the fish he told me he wasn't trained to handle fish ... grrrrrrr rant and rant again. I sort of understand but there were the tasty fillets in front of my snosh and when I asked what would be the future of the fish if no-one could technically handle them he shrugged and buggered off ...
