  1. All this limerick business has reminded me of an apalling thing I did about 12 years ago. I fancied a friend of a friend and knowing where he worked (a trendy media establishment in Soho), I hand delivered a limerick I had written (luckily I can't remember the words but they were based on my unrequited love for him) to reception and I DIDN'T PUT IT IN AN ENVELOPE ... what was I thinking??

  5. Does anyone else start singing "What a girl want, what a girl needs ... " (but quietly inside your head) when you see this thread? Huguenot - you should start your own online encyclopedia. How do you know so much?!

Hee hee, good one MP. Also, lot's of: "My name's Juan, so's my Dad's, and my grandfather's and great-grandfather's and so on ... and this is my sister Mar?a, mother Mar?a, grandmother Mar?a and so on ... ". Yawn yawn. On a different note, there was a girl in my middle school called Princess Lazenbee.
  9. ... and maybe the British media should stop being so negative about the actions of the Portuguese police. They're making them out to be incompentent 'foreigners' which is so unhelpful. Again, it's about trying to apportion blame. The only person/s to be blamed is/are the ones who have taken her. I do so hope that there can be a happy ending to this and the family mustn't lose hope. As DM says, the guilt could tear them apart and then a whole family is broken. I hope they can stay strong.
  10. 'Fraid I cannot join you guys but hope to see you on Sunday. Enjoy the new Clockhouse!

Same in Spain; many men are called Mar?a. Ex-president was Jos? Mar?a Aznar for example. Big girls' blouse.

  15. Thank you kind chaps and chapesses for your congratulations (once again!). Mike - I fear you may be right. I shall have to be diligent at the beginning at least. Sean - I can do the same route up until Kennington and then s**t my pants as I navigate Vauxhall station - is it called Vauxhall interchange maybe? I once cycled round it acidentally and it was sooooo scary - I amlost felt like closing my eyes and seeing what would happen. Realizes has talked too much in the Quiet Room - goes back to sleep in the hammock for the duration of notice period.

Lies down in hammock feeling very very pleased. Oh and thinks, well done Liverpool (for those who like that sort of thing).

  19. I love the Sea Cow but I don't think it's good value when you buy the fish to take home and cook. Mr D bought some tuna the other day and the price was the same as eat in or takeaway prices and we were a bit surprised that it wasn't a bit cheaper. Having said that, the pieces of fish were HUGE and yummy and worth it but not sure we'd do it again.
  20. In Spain, you'll spot many baby girls with pierced ears as the majority of parents want people to know that she's a girl. Personally I find it a bit bizarre as the studs are the size of the baby's nose usually but as Amelie says, this is part of their culture. Just as Spanish babies wear shoes from a very early age when they show no sign of walking. I know, I know, shoes come off and on easily and pierced ears are a different kettle of fish altogether. I wasn't allowed pierced ears until I was 14 ... if you're interested - have I been lounged yet?!
  21. I did ask in SMBS foods once and the guy said that since they had children they like/need/want to finish at 6pm 'cos of bath and bedtime.
  22. How about we try and do something like this? http://environment.guardian.co.uk/waste/story/0,,2067577,00.html

  24. Happy Birthday Raj! Birthday drinks for a gal pal tonight and ... gardening for the rest ... oh dear. Fear I might be a no-show on Sunday guys 'cos I've got a heavy and important day on Monday. I like to think I could attend and partake in the quiz on soft drinks but I do know myself ... can I decide at the last moment?
  25. Whips out a pot of home-made damson jam, bought from the ED WI at the festival in a kind of Back to the Future way. Remembers first crush on Micheal J. Fox, sigh, settles down in the hammock.
