  1. I would lie in bed all day with a good book! Enjoy, what a good idea.
  2. Can't do 10th either but have a great evening gals x
  3. Ugh, these were my exact words to Ms Bundchen when I heard this on the news yesterday. Who is she trying to impress? Not me.
  4. To add to your choice: West Wittering in West Sussex, near Chichester. http://www.westwitteringbeach.co.uk/
  5. I love it when my son toddles towards me with his mouth ready for a big slobbery kiss. Doesn't happen very often though. My husband and I have to do a big sickening 'kiss for mummy/daddy' and then he wants to join in. Re the article, not new news as you say nylon, and possibly one for making parents feel guilty when it hasn't been a day of showering affection (certainly has happened in our house).
  6. What a lovely, supporting and encouraging thread. I will remember these experiences next time I'm made to feel like my son is the 'pest' at the childminder's.
  7. I don't know but looking at the rubbish I would say it's whoever is living in the flats newly converted, next to the quite-weird-looking flats currently being built. It's mattresses, quilts, books, rubbish bags, household rubbish really. If it's not them, then someone is taking the time to take their own rubbish there which is quite unlikely. There has always been quite a lot of rubbish dumped there since that house was converted a couple of years ago but nothing on this scale.
  8. Grrrrr, that huge pile of rubbish is a total eyesore. I emailed the council about it and urge other Upload Road residents to do the same as the council worker told me the more, the better.

  10. And I read identical babies born on a quad...
  11. I like it! Don't know whether it's meant to be there or not...but it's good.
  12. I took my son to his childminder today with no sun cream or hat in a long-sleeved t-shirt and have been feeling very guilty. It was cold at 7.30 this morning!
  13. Hmmmmmm, I do think you're being treated unfairly re your return to work but isn't expecting not to have an appraisal when pregnant asking for trouble? We can't expect to be treated the same if we don't want to be.
  14. Hi Andy I don't know whether you've seen this thread: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,399590 There are some websites suggested which might be helpful in spreading the word. We too disconnected the battery and had a lock on the steering wheel. Not to mention that the van was stolen during one of those snowed-in weekends back in Feb this year. They towed it away we think, judging by the tracks in the snow. They will stop at nothing.
  15. Bad luck. Load of tosh re police having no record of other campervans (we are SE22). We reported ours being stolen back in Feb/March. It was never found, of course. I really hope it's found in one piece.
  16. She absolutely has to give you details of who apparently said what. And to tell you to never contact your CEO directly again? Sounds really quite unprofessional. The comment about your 'replacement' would have finished me off. She's making it very difficult for you to feel confident about your return to work. I'm sure she can't get away with saying 'If I wanted you to leave, I'd have asked you'. It just doesn't work like that. Can you speak to your HR department? I found mine reassuring when there was an issue I wasn't very happy about re my return to work. Good luck x
  17. Good point Yak. Similarly when people say 'when's it your turn then'?
  18. Slight hijack of the thread to confess something awful I said in a bad moment when my son was about 6 months old. I met a mum with twins when out and about. I'd had an awful night and morning with my son and was having a 'why on earth do people have babies' moment. Her boys were a bit older than my son, and were completely lovely but I exclaimed "Twins, that must be a nightmare!" To this day I feel ashamed of myself. It just came out and was a reflection on how I was feeling that day. If you read this and know who you are, I am truly sorry. In relation to this and the thread, sometimes people are insensitive without meaning to be. But the cabbie sounded like a right plonker.
  19. I found mine invaluable! I hired it from the chemist on North Cross Road.
  20. Exactly the same kirstymac1 with my little boy. His rash mainly covered his torso. Treated the rash with calamine lotion, and him with Calpol for the temp, and we were in quarantine for one week. We were sent a swab kit and the results were inconclusive - probably because he wouldn't really let me put the swab in his mouth for long enough. Sure your friend will be fine. Might be worth trying to speak to your doc on 'phone before you go to surgery. If you do need to see the doc, maybe he or she could come out to you. I went down to ours with my son and was told off because of possibility of infecting other people in the waiting room...
  21. I watched this and couldn't decide if it was all in poor patronizing taste. Think the intentions were all good but I cringed a lot.
  22. There's this group on a Monday: Parent and toddler group in Spanish Play activities, storytelling and singing for Spanish speaking families. Term time only. Salvation Army 105 Lomond Grove, SE5 7HG Tel: 020 708 5465/020 7701 6040 Time: 10am to 11.30 am Age: Five and under Cost: ?1 See attachment (from Southwark Council's website)
  23. Yep, it's Spooks
  24. Congrats Fuschia. I remember thinking in the first 6 weeks: if this was a new job I'd have handed in my notice by now.
