  1. I drove over Vauxhall bridge road today approx 10am and turned left on to Grovesnor Road, and along and on to Hammersmith and M4. Stupid question I'm sure but do I need to pay the congestion charge? Map (attached) is a bit ambiguous. I work round there but don't normally drive there. Thanks
  2. Sew Over It in Clapham do courses, as do Village Haberdashery in West Hampstead (train goes direct to and from Nunhead). Also check out sewing courses on Southward website, I know they used to put some on.

Online booking (and cancelling) would surely speed things up. I think the reception staff have improved in the last few years and can be really helpful. I expect (not with great pleasure) to have to wait 3-4 weeks for an appt but have always managed to get a same day appt for more urgent matters, usually to do with my kids, if not at FHR itself then at the Lister in Peckham.
  4. There's a Q&A on this for parents/carers on 12 Oct at Sunshine House, 6-7pm
  5. Not sure what min age is but try James who runs the swimming courses at STAC in Nunhead. His number is 07921083977.
  6. Thanks Lady R. Have done that now, good idea. Have also rung Magda at the kiosk there. And posted in various local facebook parenting groups. Fingers crossed I can get the bag back to its owner.
  7. Does this bag belong to your child, or do you recognise it? It's a yellow and white striped drawstring bag with a pineapple on it. Pic attached. We spent the day today at Ruskin Park paddling pool and playground with a group of friends. My friend and I and our kids were the last to leave and we took this bag as it was on the bench we'd been sitting on, thinking it belonged to one of our party. However, it turns out it doesn't! I feel so awful, it contains what's probably a much-loved toy, and other items (I only looked inside to see if there was a name). Please let me know if it's yours, and I'll return it straight away. If no owner found via the forum I'll take it back to the playground and hand it to the cafe by the end of the week. Huge apologies

  9. Ooh lovely idea SB! x
  10. Thanks so much all! Great ideas, planning has started.
  11. I work 3 days a week and have got all of next week off for the school holidays and was planning on doing various day trips with my son/s. Eldest is 6.5, youngest is 2.75 tho he can still go to nursery next week. Was hoping for some one-on-one time with my eldest (currently rather sensitive) boy. I'd had visions of carefreely jumping on the train to the seaside at eg Broadstairs, or Frinton, or popping to Portsmouth to look at naval ships. However, today's weather, the forecast and some grumps (son's, okay maybe mine a bit too...) has reminded me life is not like the adverts and I ought to do some planning for it. Any suggestions? We have a car but think train is more fun for day trips. Somewhere we can go to that doesn't take more than 1.5, 2 hours max from here. Not looking for Legoland type excursion, and ideally not costing loads. Basically seaside style trips for not amazing weather!
  12. Scenes from final episode of Humans (Ch4 last night) were filmed at the Horniman, in the bandstand and surroundings.
  13. Thanks for the advice/opinions, guys. Bought the Krups with aeroccino from JL for ?99. Is exactly what I wanted. Yes, I love good strong coffee but am no barista, and though in an ideal world I'd grind fresh beans, and use a snazzy machine it's just not practical. I need my fix in the morning and there's no time to faff about! I've got a mocha stove pot which is fine but you don't get any kind of crema, but it's a good alternative to filter. Thanks again, much appreciated.
  14. Southwark gymnastics run holiday clubs. My son went at Easter and really liked it. Their website is out of date but could be worth calling them: http://southwarkgymnastics.co.uk/extras/holiday-club/
