  1. Hello, I know this is a bit random but I wanted to post a message about Signoria on Lordship Lane, the new (ish) Italian cafe/restaurant opposite the French House. I used to live in Italy and really miss no-frills, well-priced, decent, Italian cooking but this is it (Il Mirto's is also really good but more for the evening). The owner,Maurizio, is Italian and really accommodating. The chefs are Italian so the pasta is perfectly cooked and having been in a couple of times, this is my new favourite place to take the kids for lunch or get some work done while not spending an arm and a leg. The coffee is also really good and there is free WiFi. Fyi. I just wanted to share as not many people seem to know about the place/have tried it. Thanks a lot, D
  2. Hello, I am a writer, journalist and freelance producer and am planning an article about paternal postnatal depression. It will explore the experience of the father, the effect on the family unit, ways of coping and where to find support. I feel this is a hugely unexplored topic in the national press and that many families would greatly benefit by knowing more about it. As well as speaking to healthcare professionals for the article, I am also looking to speak to fathers who have suffered with, or are still suffering with, postnatal depression. The overall aim of the article is to explore this subject sensitively and compassionately and to provide a better understanding for families going through it. I realise this is a profoundly sensitive subject and one that is often very difficult to discuss. If you might be happy to talk to me, or would like to know any more about the piece, then please do get in touch. Anything discussed will be treated with the utmost sensitivity. Thanks very much, All the best, Daisy
  3. I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who commented here. All your thoughts and suggestions are very welcome and very helpful. I have managed to find a lovely childminder who can be flexible with the days I need (up to 3 days a week) with my parents also looking after my little boy on the other days. I agree that continuity is key and it seems that we will have that. All the best, Daisy
  4. Hello, I am a freelance TV Producer with a 1 month old son. I am planning on going back to work in late September for 10 weeks and am looking into childcare options for my little boy who will be almost 6 months by then. I will need someone between 3-5 days a week from around 9.00 am to 5 pm. It's quite possible that I will need the same childcare again after Christmas but I'm looking for flexibility at first as I work on a contract basis. If this is something that might suit you, please do get in touch. Thanks a lot, Daisy
  5. Hello, I am hoping to find some help and information about what options may be available for flexible childcare locally. I have a one month old little boy and work in TV. I'm planning on going back to work later this year and will have family help for 2 days a week. For the remaining 3 days I'm planning on looking for a childminder or nanny share. The issue is that being freelance, when my contract finishes, I will want to suspend childcare for all or some of those 3 days but I know this usually means losing your place at nursery/the childminder. I know quite a few people in East Dulwich work in the media and I was wondering if there was any advice/thoughts on how the work/childcare balance can work for the self employed. Thanks very much, Daisy
  6. Have you tried phoning the BreastFeeding Helpline?: 08444 122 949 They will put you through to a trained counsellor or you leave a message and they call you back. They're usually very good and a great way to get some help until you actually get to see someone. DB x
  7. Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can help with some local nursery knowledge as it's something I know absolutely nothing about, nor do I know anyone who has children in any of the local nurseries. I am shortly due to have a little boy and a few people have suggested putting him down on nursery waiting lists now as they can become very oversubscribed in ED. With this in mind, can anyone recommend good local nurseries or ones worth considering above others? We live on East Dulwich Grove and I'm planning to go back to work in about 10 or 11 months' time, so in the New Year. Thanks very much for any comments, all information gratefully received. Daisy
  8. Yes you're probably right, I'll see if I can move it over. Thanks
  9. Hello, I'm a writer and close friend of someone who has just been diagnosed with postnatal psychosis. Seeing her go through these terrifying initial stages has prompted me to write an article about the illness. It seems very little appears in the public eye and very few people have heard of pp, as opposed to pnd which is relatively well known about now. I am looking to speak to someone who has been through this experience and recovered as I think a positive story to include in the article might help other sufferers. If you or someone you know would be happy to speak to me about this further then please email me or reply to this thread. Thanks very much, Daisy
  10. Hello, I was wondering if anyone has recovered from, or knows someone who has recovered from, postnatal psychosis? I'm a writer and close friend of someone who has just been diagnosed with pp. Seeing her go through these terrifying initial stages has prompted me to write an article about the illness. It seems very little appears in the public eye and very few people have heard of pp, as opposed to pnd which is relatively well known about now. I am looking to speak to someone who has been through this experience and got better as I think a positive story to include in the article might help other sufferers. The article would be for Grazia magazine. If you or someone you know might be happy to talk to me further, please email me or reply to the thread. I'm looking to speak to anyone who is interested tomorrow. Thanks a lot, Daisy
