Hi TTW - this has happened to us too but they stole the car. A few months ago we woke up one morning to find our car was gone from outside our house. Luckily we had a tracker in it connected to a phone app which showed us that the car was currently sitting at an address outside London and had been stolen late the night before. The keys were safely inside our house in a Faraday case (a metal lined pouch that's supposed to protect keyless entry cars from relay theft). To cut a long story short, it seems that not all Faraday cases are effective. They are widely and fairly cheaply available and the police advised us that if you get one you should test it works by standing near the car with the key in the case and see if you can unlock the car by pressing the key through the closed case. We did end up getting our car back thanks to the tracker.

A repeat recommendation for Aston after another fantastic job done by him for my mum. He put up some pictures for her and was excellent, really helpful and professional and she's very pleased.

Can you give the rest of us some detail on what this is about?

I haven't slipped there but really felt for you reading this. That sounds very scary at 32 weeks pregnant. Really hope you are okay.

Just wanted to say our thoughts and prayers are with you. It must be such an awful time for you, worrying and looking for him. We've seen your posters and he's such a beautiful boy. We're not in your immediate area but will of course keep our eyes out for him. We have everything crossed for you that you find him or that he finds his way back to you.

Does anyone have a link to a full map of the proposed CPZ? The one posted above doesn't show the full boundary of the proposed zone. Putting aside my views on whether a CPZ should be introduced, I really hope Southwark follows a proper consultation process on this.

Aston did another fantastic job for my mum, hanging lots of pictures and a clock. She was really pleased with his professional, friendly and efficient way of working and asked me to post on here with a review to recommend him.

Thanks Jim, that's really helpful. And good to know that card clash has its benefits!
-
Thanks for that very interesting info Jim. Out of interest, how close would someone have to be to you to read your card through a wallet or bag?

Aston hung some pictures for my mum and did a brilliant job. He was incredibly professional, efficient and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you Aston!!!

Trossachs Road area intermittent high pitched noise night and day.

If it's preventing you from sleeping, report it to the Council's noise team (24 hours) https://www.southwark.gov.uk/noise-and-antisocial-behaviour/how-to-report-a-noise-problem -
After I found this thread, I asked Tom to sort out some LED lights in our house that kept flickering despite us having tried all manner of different bulbs and dimmer switches. Tom did a brilliant job completely solving the problem. I was really impressed by how professional and efficient he and his colleague Harry were. It was completely pain free to have them in the house and the work was done fast and with no mess. I'd have absolutely no hesitation recommending Tom and we'll definitely use him again.

Violent Mugging in East Dulwich (March 2nd 2017)
a_m replied to andrewfinch1994's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Horrified to hear about what happened to you Andrew. I was mugged many years ago and it affected me quite a lot - previously I'd felt safe and confident on the streets having grown up and lived in London all my life. Afterwards I kept finding myself checking over my shoulder if anyone came even slightly too close. Take care and be kind to yourself, you've been through a horrible ordeal and I really hope you recover quickly. I will keep fingers crossed a kind soul returns your uni work to you. Best of luck. -
I understand the need for registering with the Council, but i object to the Council trying to gather personal information by someone turning up at your front door. It can't be good practice to arrive unannounced at someone's home (even with Southwark Council branded items) and request personal information from them like their NI number. It goes against all the advice on avoiding fraudsters.

Followed and chased by man into Denmark Hill Station

Thanks for the warning, and so sorry to hear you had this experience. It must have been very distressing and although you say no physical harm occurred, I hope you are feeling okay emotionally. -
The 08:30 to LB this morning was delayed first of all, and then cancelled at 08:45 - no announcement, no explanation given. As the next train wasn't until 09:30, everyone left the platform en masse and tried to get on a bus. Several went by without even allowing anyone on they were so full. I ended up walking up to Denmark Hill and taking a train to Blackfriars which was also very full. What on earth is going to happen next week if the 5 day strike goes ahead?

Does anyone know what is to become of the old Jaflong site on the Lane? I'm with Louisa on the need for a good Mexican.

Has anyone seen anything from Southern about the number of carriages they intend to provide on these reduced train services? If they roll out 4 carriage trains as they sometimes do, it will be a total nightmare trying to get on and once on, unsafe and highly stressful trying to travel to and from LB. Surely Southern has got to guarantee full carriage numbers on this ridiculous reduced timetable - not that that would make it acceptable - but surely it's the very minimum they can do?

The trains were also awful yesterday - I stood for 45 minutes in the rain-lashed shelter on the platform as train after train was cancelled. Shocking service yet again from Southern. Surely they can't allow this sick note situation to continue?

Sweaty Betty Shop in East Dulwich?

But where is it actually going? Maybe where East Dulwich Deli used to be... (the half on the right of where Brissi was?) -
former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
a_m replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
ribrob This might be helpful - and at the bottom there's information about an independent Dispute Resolution scheme and an Ombudsman. http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/internet/problems-and-complaints/broadband-landline-faults/ -
On a related note, why don't the posties round here ever put the item reference number on the back of the "While you were out, we tried to deliver" cards like they're supposed to so you can arrange re-delivery online. That would make things a lot easier for most people who work during the day. Or maybe it's just my postie...has anyone ever been able to arrange re-delivery?
