  1. You can get purple poppies from blue brick cafe for all the animals killed during war. (just for you DaveR)
  2. DaveR, ill start a thread not about meat if you start one about meat - deal? How am I not championing the environment? Do explain. Sue, I don't care if there aren't cows in fields? Don't kid yourself into thinking you are breeding animals to give them a chance at "having life", they are bred for us to kill and eat them. Tom
  3. When I started the DVVS I wanted to ensure it was open to all, hence come along if " you are interested in environment" aswell as for vegans, veg, pescs and your new creation of 'poles'. So come along on December 8th and say hello, you know you want to!
  4. Give what a rest? Championing the environment over human greed? Your grand kids will thank me for it!
  5. Rosie H http://www.naturalnews.com/025163_Hitler_vegetarian_vegetarianism.html
  6. Hey moos, Sorry I didn't engage. Yes I think choosing locally sourced meat from free range organic small holdings is much better than buying meat from Morleys for example. However I feel consumers of meat often use the phrase 'high welfare' to excuse the fact that they are growing a life just to be killed and its flesh eaten. Tom
  7. H's rant at me on the halal and kosher meat thread, sociopath and hated of humankind, as well as being narcicistic! What an oxy-moron!
  8. Thanks for the lovely picture curtain, do they stun them at that farm? 'Welfare conscience' doesn't sit comfortably with 'death/slaughtered'. But then Doctor H has diagnosed me as ill so that explains it. Harp harp.
  9. Harp harp harp goodness me H I should hire you as the DVVS Press Officer! I would love to meet you, will you be at the meeting on 10th? DVVS "self help group for those with a hatred of humans" now that's a quote for the website! (Ps. Hitler wasn't a veggie, his doctor encouraged it for his health but H just didn't have the staying power)
  10. How does dulwich make Muslims feel unwelcome?
  11. Harp! Curtain, I thought it wouldn't take long until someone on edf compared me Hitler! Actually I do post on many topics, but the ones I start are indeed usually linked to.animal welfare. What's wrong with that, if you don't care about welfare/environment why click on the thread? Tom
  12. Bonjour http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-15610142 Interesting news piece on how the Dutch Gov will soon be banning Halal/Kosher meat re. animal welfare. Halal and Kosher, developed thousands of years ago, a way of killing an animal by hanging it upside down and slitting its throat. No stunning is involved. Halal video: warning very graphic, 1 minute 50 seconds in: What do people think about this method of killing and also how some schools and government organisations are using halal meat as standard? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1300589/Parents-fury-town-hall-plans-halal-menus-schools.html http://www.harrowobserver.co.uk/west-london-news/local-harrow-news/2010/08/03/anger-over-halal-only-menus-in-schools-116451-26987078/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1313458/Halal-Britain-Famous-institutions-routinely-serve-public-ritually-slaughtered-meat.html Thanks for your thoughts, Tom ps. Im expecting a little flak regards this, both for discussing a topic that could curb religious freedoms and also for using the daily mail. i believe all people should have the freedom to worship in whatever way they feel appropriate, as long as it does not cause harm to others (watch the video). the latter point, im lazy and the daily mail is the first link that came up, to 'beef up' the thread.
  13. Thanks for keeping foie gras on the agenda lady d! What action can we take carter to stop our gov. Bombing other countries? I am genuinely interested! Tom
  14. Ha peter, the air miles are insignificant when you consider how energy heavy the majority of meat is, 80% of all soya beans grown on the earth go to feed animals, 90% of this energy is wasted when they live about etc. Then add the last wasted to grow the food, and the massive amount of water. No wonder the chair if the EU committee in climate change is encouraging people to do a meat free day! Tom
  15. How about coming to the dulwich vegans meeting on 10th Nov at blue brick cafe, ill give you some interesting info on the environment! Tom
  16. Brockwell park as clapnarn is cancelled Tom
  17. Was that at me grandad?
  18. I saw one land on the lordship lane cross roads once, that was for a car crash.
  19. When did it happen?
  20. Ha try veganism, I use 1/4 of the land water oil of your average meat eater.
  21. I was just about to start this thread, seen a couple of ambulances and police cars speeding along peckham rye.
  22. Can't believe we are discussing the legality of cleaning up dog poo. Red tape society in action!
  23. does anyone have a copy of wheat belly? tom
