  1. So you think the Chinese will keep with English? Yes I think American should run a policy of isolationism, their foreign policy has caused enormous problems. They need to concentrate on issues at home like health, business and crime.
  2. Will the rise of China mean English people will start learning Chinese as a second language in order to expand our chances of securing business deals? I'm sorry to see so many americanisms creeping into English telly such as 'gotten', bother anyone else?
  3. Can you explain your comment re. Insects I'm confused? We are greedy parasites that will probably end up wiping ourselves out. Anyway, just because we are dominant doesn't mean we need to cause death and destruction does it?
  4. Ha I can hereby clarify I am not a tomato thief and I have never (and never will) use forced rhubard. Yes I should be growing some tomatoes just haven't had the time - something for the future! Toms from the market were actually cheaper than local tescos. Tom
  5. Mick mac - I think this thread can survive another diversion - weve had ponces, glacier cherries, picture of mohitoes, the game shooting season, rearing pork pies and boiling pigs heads! i tried the dulwich farmers market today - super!
  6. Interesting, the old look at your teeth argument. I suppose you have tried biting through the hide of a cow, or crushing bones with them? Nope. Our teeth arent meant for hunting or killing animals. Yes we have eaten flesh in the past, and it has helped us to get where we are. However, for the human population to continue living on this earth (reachin 9 billion by 2050) it is a simple fact we will need to reduce our consumption of animal products. Vegans use 1/4 of the land, water and oil compared to omnivores. Lets all get righteous and maybe our grandkids will have an earth to live on aswell?
  7. Good for you strafer. I dont currently have the money at the moment to always buy from pretty's or smbs, although wa sin there today and their tomatoes are super, great taste! i recently read a book 'we want real food' which really spurred me on to buy organic and local. Hopefully ill have the money soon and then yes you'll see me at the grocers all the time! although a vegan who is against all animal products, I am please in dulwich we have good butchers / moxons for fish, so i would encourage people who do it meat to source it from there. thomas
  8. do you guys only eat meats from butchers then?
  9. boiling a pigs head?
  10. Im guessing the rehab jokes will be coming along soon.
  11. Minor nb. MM, a carnivore only eats meat nothing else. Even you would find that a struggle. Good to see you enjoy your fresh veg - where abouts do you buy yours from? I rather like pretty's, they seem to know their stuff. In fact the next Dvvs talk is on vegetables hope you can make it! Tom Ps. What is brawn David?
  12. Yes strange the moderator hasnt cleaned up this thread?
  13. I suppose Alan if I reflect the comments on this thread, now the relationship is reversed Im expected to label you as a crazy boycotting eco-warrior green freak, a one man dictator who is destroying dulwich for the consumers? he he
  14. greece joke best so far, political and funny!
  15. Yes sadly no page 3, maybe next week!
  16. Maybe that could be my alias - 'The White Squirrel of Dulwich?' Sounds like a trendy pub (that doesnt serve FG)
  17. Bonjour, Page 4 of the South London Press today - check out the article on Foie Gras and let me know your views. Merci.
  18. Thanks senior, yes has turned into a little monster thread. Sorry the prince is getting a good talking to! Re artfulldogger, surely you agree with protesting where people see injustice, otherwise we would still have bear bating and slavery! (Even though at the time many people stood against change) Tom
  19. Any other thoughts on Foie gras? We seemed to have fallen off topic slightly?
  20. Thanks Maxxi Ill be sure to follow up re. The Prince Regent - that naughty prince! Any other places around Dulwich area that serve Foie Gras? Thomas
  21. Will do when I get the chance but not sure why you dont trust me? You could ring up Stephen Boyd @ EDT and just ask him?
  22. Ha I love the piece about converting Dulwich Hardware store! Great to hear re. Peckham Foie Gras free - anywhere else guys? Clapham next I guess? he he Im not sure where the claim came from re. Blue Brick Cafe and foie gras?
  23. Im not sure why you are claiming Franklins, EDT and Beuberry House havent served foie gras? I have a copy of EDTs old menu showing it served foie gras if you would like it? Why would I make false claims, seems rather silly as I raised the campaign to stop FG? Im not sure how I can 'step up' the protest other than writing letters. emails and contacting the press? I have a fulltime job so you wont be seeing me outside Le Chardon with a protest board anytime soon! Yes Blue Brick Cafe is a vegan veggie cafe - in fact we have a meeting there tonight at 7.30pm if you are interested! Thomas
  24. Ha ha superb! Thanks Alec, very interesting discussion!
  25. Hey Guys (or would you prefer: Hello, Hallo, Halo, Kalispera, Bonjour, Guten Tag, Heya, Whats up? Dear All) South London Press will be kindly running this Foie Gras story tomorrow - be sure to buy a copy, it'll come with a wonderful picture of me outside Blue Brick Cafe. I do have the support of over 120 people on my Dulwich Vegan and Veggie mailing list, although thats not the point, its within my right to call a manager of restaurants and chat to them about their stock. They decide their stock lists. However, as Davids notes - most pro-meat / foie gras people won't go to the trouble of organising a local group, meetings, website, facebook, twitter, contact local paper and fellow organisations to campaign for foie gras or other meat products. Im not against local businesses, Im against animal abuse where ever it crops up. (plant pun unintended!) Thanks Thomas
