  1. Next topic - bull fighting and animal abuse as sport - gut oder nicht gut?
  2. We already have a coop and a sainsburies, also deli, butchers, smbs, dully supermarket, farmers market, pretty. Why do we need anything else? Keep it local.
  3. Woo hoo we made the 500. I would like to thank my parents, my friends and all the members of Dvvs. El Fin!
  4. Cheers guys very interesting, thanks for the links. Tom
  5. Ha ha huggy you do make me chuckle. This threads become more about my personal credentials than a quick survey on the people of ed's views on fg. I really meant it as nothing more than that, didn't expect so many hundreds of posts! That long lost quote was in the context of asking restaurants to serve a vegan dish. I'm sorry if my enthusiasm made me a little keen. I have always advocated politeness when talking to managers of restaurants and tried to keep discussions positive. To lobby parliament would take years, I'm looking local as I don't have any political influence on Westminster do i? The Dvvs also run a number of different initiatives, fg is only one. dulwich Meat free days, vegan alcohol, veggies parents group, vegan ice cream in cinema, networking with churches schools councillors and mps for the environment, human health and animal welfare. Thanks for all the comments guys, it has been emotional.
  6. Faux Gras (soya alternative) he he
  7. The other night I was in Wittering (south coast) and saw about 8 shooting stars, what I believe to be 3 satelites and also saw a very bright star grow brighter, and then dim and then disappear. Was that a star dying? Just wondering if there are any ED astonomers that could help? Thanks Thomas
  8. I dont mind character assissination, all part of the fun of debating over the internet, thanks Deliah for your friendly words. I wasnt trying to defend myself, I have nothing to defend, just seeing if I can stretch this thread out to 500 posts. Well I suppose The Palmerston's post answer my question whether they will stop serving foie gras! Thomas
  9. Ow and if you do want to catch me (in) A-nnette (see what I did there?) For your Christmas Thomas-gras lunch I'll be at the talk about growing vegetables at the blue brick cafe on 18th Aug at 7.30pm, hope to see you there x
  10. Goodness me I didn't realise I was such a trouble maker! Antisocial - how do you explain that one? How have I ever made myself out to be a hero? I guess ill be a martyr next if Ms Curtain gets her way, can you make it veggies gravy? Huggy, thank you very much for respecting "my rights" and not getting me banned from restaurants, whatever that means? Out of interests which eateries would you like to see veggies banned from?
  11. I'm now a 'guerrilla activist' and a 'terrorist', striking fear into the hearts and minds of dulwichians! All from the comfort of my front room. Who thought such mayhem could be possible from a few lines about maybe improving animal welfare in dulwich?
  12. I like the new shape! (Not over fg thank you salsa!)
  13. We safely say it won't be anyone from the dulwich vegan society ...
  14. This months talk at the blue brick cafe is about gardening and vegetables, 18th august, 7.30pm. Tom
  15. I dont believe the world should revolve around humans. Just because something is legal (although Foie Gras is illegal to produce in the UK, dont understand that?) doesnt make it right. I can't agree with the championing of taste buds over animal welfare. Just as I wouldn't agree with business profit over human welfare ie the slave trade - which was once legal in this country. Im not dictating, to dictate you need power to rule, Im just politely suggesting. If I was dictating then all the restaurants wouldn't be serving FG would they?
  16. Why thank you frankito, I appear to be making a name for myself as an animal welfare consultant. I'll come back to you on this one, from where are the suggested 'wild' salmon source?
  17. The idea of not opposing something because at thus moment in time its legal seems a little silly. Otherwise wed still be owning slaves and women wouldn't have the vote. I think lobbying businesses and politicians goes hand in hand. Infact in most cases businesses (especially in the food industry) have more power than politicians, so making the food provider change their output can be more effective than bringing MPs on board to force a change in the law that usually takes years. Are you suggesting urban fox hunting mockney? Actually dog kennel hill used to be dog hunting kennels for royalty (surprise suprise!)
  18. Seconding salsa boys question, as the business model already includes large displays of flesh will you be going Foie gras free to provide a little balance?
  19. This threads like a gorilla fact book, very interesting.
  20. That's some rather creative thinking[pre] [/pre] there nashoi, we need to get you on a governmental think tank. Re. Vegans using up the worlds resources, schoolboy error, animal feed takes about 75% of world soya crop, even more depressing is the fact that 90% of this yield is wasted when animal breath move and grow. I read recently that some European countries population are on the decline, although I guess this Pales in significance compared to large countries like China and India.
  21. Although not an ink fan, I'll support this venture if it replaces 'favorite chicken' on lordship lane.
  22. Hey there. Over Population is the biggest threat to humanity. By 2050 there will be 9 billion people. When do you think governments will be forced to act on this issue?
  23. Thanks beef, didn't expect that from your name!
  24. Back to the thread topic; anyone heard a reasoning as to why he attacked a youth labour campaign group?
