E.D.Station controlled parking zone
Mscrawthew replied to joobjoob's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Fred, in my experience (5 years worth) it was never good. To add insult to injury you also had to deal with the lovely people people (not) at Southwarks parking shop. James, I may have missed it but did you answer my question as to the reason why resident permits and visitors permits would not be free to everyone living in the "affected" area? Thank you! -

Despite thousands of staffie and staffie crosses being put to sleep every year, Complete idiots are still breeding them thinking they can make money. It is also the same for other breeds and Cats as well. Websites like Gumtree etc (and sorry to say even EDF) just encourage people to use their animals as cash cows as they allow them to list them for sale and line their pockets( Before anyone starts screaming, I do know that mistakes are made and am talking about repeat offenders). No thought for the health of the animal or the conditions they are kept in and therefore you will find that their offspring come with all sorts of health problems, uneutered, unvaxed or treated for worms. If you go to any decent rescue all this is already done and the animal has lifetime back up as well as advice when needed. This basically means if the animal ever has to be re-homed for whatever reason it returns to the rescue. Animals bought from Gumtree etc have no health checks and are forgotton as soon as the money has changed hands :-(

The problem is who is at the other end of the lead. You cannot accuse ALL dogs of one specific breed or cross breed of being one specific type of character or predetermined to attack or bite. Sadly some people will not see beyond their own prejudice or take time to actually find out if the media portrayal is truth or ignorance! Untrained, unsocialised and in the wrong hands, is that the fault of the dog, No! A lot of people take on dogs who have been wronged by humans and they go on to be ideal pets, only because they have been lucky enough to find someone who is willing to make an ongoing effort to train and understand any previous problems. This dog happened to be a staffie, Would there be such an outcry if it was a Lurcher or a Lab?

A new campaign by Battersea because they know what they are talking about :)) Kennel Club approved. "Extremely reliable, highly intelligent and affectionate, especially with children." They're not our words to describe the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, but the Kennel Club's. Surprised? With so many misconceptions about the breed, you may well be. Yet while they may be perceived as rough and tough, in reality Staffordshire Bull Terriers are anything but. In fact, due to their gentle behaviour and affinity with children they are often referred to as the 'nanny dog'. http://www.battersea.org.uk/dogs/staffies.html

Having lived in a CPZ for 5 years, I am totally against possibly having to live in another! James, Could you tell me if this were to go ahead, why residents and their visitors cannot be issued with free permits? I don`t know why anyone who is a resident should pay? Do you live in a CPZ James and know the effects as such? -
Whats happening at the station?
Mscrawthew replied to Mikandnik's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The point is smaller dogs are more likely to attack but when they do it is brushed under the carpet. It doesn`t make it right though? Full breed Staffords are ideal family dogs as recommended by the kennel club. Is your dislike of them purely because of media reports Jeremy or because of seeing young adults with them and the attitude that comes with it, Maybe you don`t see the many responsible bull breed owners out there because their dogs are well behaved and don`t pose a threat because of who is at the other end of the lead? I am totally against young people under 18 even being able to own a dog and would love for the government to introduce a law to that effect but until they do something about back street breeders constantly churning out unwanted puppies that end up abused and mistreated by people who are merely thinking of the tax free cash they can earn with no regard to where these dogs will end up, the cycle will carry on. A large percentage of the British public are unaware of the fact`s regarding dogs that are found straying. When they enter a council pound the law states that they have to be held for 7 days by law to see if they are claimed. If they are not they are put to sleep. Perfectly healthy, non aggresive friendly dogs by the hundreds week in and week out. If a dog is handed into the dog warden then they can by law be put to sleep immeadiately. The cost to tax payers is phenomenal but it isn`t highlighted enough to make people want to push for change. I see a lot of these dogs who have done nothing wrong and end up in a cold kennel frightened and confused, This then leads to death at the end of the week. Banning dogs is not the solution as this merely makes them more attractive to the morons of this world. Even if some of the money spent on policing the DDA was redirected to charities for funding to educate people and encourage neutering (low cost) then it would be a start. Going back to young adults having dogs, My Son has just turned 18 and has for the last 4 years before school/College/work taken our dog out for 1 of her daily walks. No doubt he has been looked at in the past as just another teenager with a staffie, the difference being she is our family dog and is just that, part of the family. He has purposely got out of bed early to walk her and I am proud to say has also been able to change a few people`s idea`s of this stereotype. So don`t judge everyone who walks a bullbreed with the same contempt. If you look beyond the cover you may just like what you find! -
Still there, on offer for ?1.89 I think?

She is wearing a red collar with white bones printed on it. She is very friendly and may have headed towards Goose Green.

Northcross Market to open on Sundays?
Mscrawthew replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
@ HennyPenny. Resident parking will not make a blind bit of difference. Restictions are normally Monday to Friday and it`s not something that will benefit anyone but Southwark Council. -

Sorry to hear she isn`t home yet. Try and put her details and a picture on www.doglost.co.uk asap. The rescue I work closely with have been out for the last 3 days in Greenhithe trying to find a dog that was sighted a week ago. He was finally caught last night and was thankfully chipped. He has been reunited with his family today, a month after he disappeared from CR4. He was also neutered and we believe he may have been stolen and then dumped as he couldn`t of been used for breeding. The dog wardens normally also check doglost when they have new dogs arrive in the pound. It means there are also more people aware that your dog is missing. Good luck with finding her. xx -
I am really puzzled that nobody has picked up on the fact that Friday in Northcross Road is and has been for a long time, virtually empty of market stalls? Extending the scheme seems to be a very strange thing to do if the already allocated days (apart from Saturday) Aren`t even used to there full potential?

Great news :))

Morning Is there anyway you could get her to celia hammond to see if she is chipped? You could also take a picture of her and put it on www.dogslost.co.uk and also inform the dog warden and local vets. Good luck with finding her owner and well done for taking her in.
