As Zeban says!

Heh heh at confusion over poster and poster! I will pm you Ann.

Yes, I am aware. Enjoy your witch hunting. Lets hope it gets the results you want.

I'm not trying to identify anyone. I am just genuinely wondering why you are ranting like this on this Forum. What do you hope to achieve? The Goodrich parents have the opportunity to make themselves heard through the appropriate channels. You may feel better getting this off your chest in public but with posts such as yours there is a danger of this all tipping over into witch-hunting territory, which will simply do more harm than good. And to say that Goodrich is primarily a middle class school is *absurd*. It is a very mixed school. But anyway, I find it hard to take your posts seriously when you suggest I might find police knocking at my door for daring to go to the Governors meeting!

Tony Rabbit, Emily, Havana: Are any of you a Governor at Goodrich?

serious accident on lordship lane (February 10)
Dorothy replied to dimples's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I took my cat to the vets opposite the Harvester at about 10.10 this morning. At that time the road was just starting to be cleared. Some of the staff in the vets had witnessed a young male being hit by a car - and were worried that he had died. But while my cat was being seen the news came through that the accident wasn't fatal. This is all anecdotal and I don't know any hard facts whatsoever. -
I totally disagree that the school is "beset by problems" and not all of the parents who attended the recent Governors forum have the same pov as you Havana. I question your motives in joining this forum simply to post on this subject. As BeccaL says above, it is a matter to be handled by the school Governors, in the first instance. Every single parent at Goodrich has the opportunity to have their voice heard by the Governors who do a good job in making themselves available. The Governor forums are well publicised well in advance. As you say, the recent meeting was well attended. What are you hoping to achieve by your posts on this forum?

James - I was addressing Tony Rabbit (the op). He started a thread purportedly about East Dulwich schools in general. But it seems what he actually wants to know is can he get his child into a school he likes better than Goodrich. Your post was helpful.

What a roundabout way of getting to your point op!

I have been a Goodrich parent since 2004 and my two children are happy at the school. I am also a bit in the dark as to exactly what the problems are, although I do hear grumblings in the playground. I'd suggest you pm the one or two individuals who have posted (their first ever post on this forum) about Goodrich in the last week or so and ask them exactly what their agenda is and what do they think can be done to improve the school? And then could you pm me and let me know! Thanks.

Golly, where is your house Brendan?

Yes, just to be clear, I would love a Waitrose so long as it didn't hugely affect the rest of Lordship Lane. Since I don't think this is possible, I voted no. That makes me a classic nimby, I guess.

Chicken gone bad in Plough Sainsbos
Dorothy replied to benjaminty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Never buy chicken with less than 4 days to run on its sell-by date. Imo. -
I agree, it is quite heavily moderated and there are certain things you cannot say! Still, there is always the option to go elsewhere or watch some nice telly instead.

I did Saturday night and was a bit horrified to discover I drank at least the calorific equivalent of a burger and a hotdog. Hmm. And 64% of my recommended weekly units. Hmm. Hmm.

Oh well done on giving up the smerks, you clever quitters. It is very nice to be free of the obligation to smoke, I can truly say, 2 years, 4 months and 1 day down the line. Do be wary about the weight gain though - that really isn't any fun. I gained about 4lb (not much really) on *each* of the seven occasions I've given up - and now I am a reet porker :(. Nomis and Nerual, yes ED has lots to offer. The search button on this forum is really good, so if you search for "new to the area" or "we have just moved" then doubtless you will uncover a number of previous threads on this same subject. Also try the Whats On section. And look at ED Businesses and Trades for general gossip about our eateries and pubs.

I expect this has already been covered, if so could anyone point me in the right direction as I am not going to read the whole thread although I have read most of it, but I am surprised to hear that the good citizens of ED have any kind of say in what shops we have on LL. If we did, would we really have voted for the new William Hill, and the three or more new Estate Agents, and Oliver Bonas, when we are already very well provided-for in these types of shops in East Dulwich.? James - why are you consulting now, when you haven't done so in the past? Is it just that a supermarket is seen as an altogether different kettle of fish?

If the bike was hit - first line of the op states that a collision took place - then the driver should have stopped more than momentarily. The driver should have stopped and got out of the car and checked that the rider of the bike was ok. If that had happened then I doubt the op would have even bothered to start this thread. I imagine, in an ideal world, the op would like the police to go and have a word with the driver of the car, not least to make him or her think again about driving away from an accident. Its not an unreasonable stance to take. Do you think its okay to stay in your car at the scene of an accident and then just drive off? I think that it pretty reckless and irresponsible behaviour and it would be good if the driver could be cautioned about it. I doubt very much the op is hoping the driver will be arrested and sent to court. Perhaps the op has no idea what could come of reporting the driver to the police, but she is willing to give it a try.

The Gardens Surgery - problematic booking system?
Dorothy replied to Michael Palaeologus's topic in The Lounge
Twirly and others - you can't seriously be arguing that an acceptable way to overcome this problem is for people who want a same day appointment at the Gardens should walk round there and make an appointment in person? What if you live a 25 minute walk away? What if you are disabled? What if you have other things to do first thing in the morning like get your children to school or nursery? Its no kind of solution. The surgery needs a better telephone system. -
The Gardens Surgery - problematic booking system?

If they could have a queueing system which is not an 0845 number, I should have said. -
