Saw them near Nags Head about 3.55 so they must have stopped off somewhere between Barry Rd at 2.40pm and 3.55. Dark Green armoured Range Rover screams minor royal but didn't think there were enough cars. uncleglen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I saw it going down Barry Road towards Peckham Rye > at about 2.40. fireworks on peckham rye last night

Thought I'd dreamt it. Luckily was able to get back to sleep immediately. -
Brilliant news. Many congratulations. I was only thinking about you this morning and wondering how you got on.

Western Crete (Alymyrida) is absolutely gorgeous. We went in August but I know the area is popular in May for it's magnificant Spring colour. Not sure about water temp but I would think it would be quite reasonable for swimming. Unheated pools may be a little too cool(depending on your tolerance levels - hubby doesn't mind swimming in the Baltic!).

Very overdue with second and due to traumatic 1st was absolutely determined to go into labour naturally. Tried acupuncture and actually really enjoyed the opportunity to relax and focus on myself. What I think did it though was a 3 mile walk. Did the walk on the Sunday, went into labour 7am next day. Good luck.

That was my son to a tee. We just didn't stress, offered a pull up for poos and he voluntarily used the toilet about 4-5 weeks later.

Do you use expensive or cheap face cream?
EDmummy replied to LouieM's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'm not afraid of throwing money at my skin (although I think I might be in the category of those who naturally have "good" skin). The one basic I swear by is Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. Cleanses and exfoliates brilliantly and then use whatever moisturises works for you - cheap or more costly - but remove that dead skin and you will glow. -
I know http://zenaeverett.com/ as a mother of one of my children's nursery friends rather than professionally but I do think she might be what you're looking for. She's a very thoughtful person and I'm sure she would be able to manage your son's particular needs.

Police & ambulance outside Jewellers on Upland Rd
EDmummy replied to Callie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Police tape up now. I suspect robbery but hope it wasn't with violence. Lovely couple. -
Not a fan of this particular dry cleaners after they refused to accept responsiblity for damaging items over the years (and they were much more expensive than most of the others). I wouldn't worry too much about the owners, they own quite a number of rental properties in the area which is where they earn their money. There was a planning application to turn it into a beauticians but I'm not sure if it was approved.

Bawdy-nan, is this in secondary school? As far as I understood, school dinners are free for all in primary school (thanks to local Labour Party - pre-dating Coalition policy). At secondary school, I believe it's available to low earning families via application. bawdy-nan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I notice on your twitter feed that you say that > you and the Dulwich conservatives are "fighting > for the best interests of local residents". To be fair, the head did leave after 5 years - his original plan was to stay for 6 but left a year early because of a move to the Middle East. I'm not sure why the recent VP left but the majority I know have been there a number of years. As bornagain says, senior staff usually stay 3-4 years as promotion opportunities are Federation wide, the current Head Teacher was a VP at the Girls School, then Head at another school before moving to the ED campus. With the lens on only one school it's always difficult to understand what is an anomaly and what is significant. I personally don't have the time at the moment but would love to have a Southwark/Lewisham/London wide look at staff in order to get a good understanding.

Please don't manipulate what I said. You say 'that both you and your son are happy with the school'. I did not say that. I have a vested interest in the school being well managed as my son's education relies on this. I believe in being a 'critical friend' to ensure my son get's the best education possible. I do want to hear about teacher unrest and thank 'intexasatthe moment' for posting the site detailed although I understand a resolution to the issue was found in Feb this year but am happy to be updated if this was not the case. The second link is to a notification of the national NUT/NASUWT strike which I believe was about retirement and pension. So, if you have evidence, I'd love to hear the details and more information on the source. I'm afraid I don't know the statistics on staff movement for the school in comparison to other schools. My son has been there for 3 years and I know of quite a number who are still there throughout that time. I'm not sure of the number who've been there for the 6 years it's been open but I could also count on both hands the number of people I work with who've been there 6+ years. There are facts and spin, Parents Voice are presented with fact, it's up to you/us to look at comparitive figures and conclude if there's a problem and finally, ask the school what they're going to do about it.

There's a Parents Voice meeting on 25 Nov where you can raise your concern and get a response from Deputy Head or Head Teacher. My son has only mentioned an issue in one class which has now been resolved. Parents Voice have in the past received regular reports on turnover.

Newbuilds in gardens - Hindmans Road
EDmummy replied to kate h's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I can see why a developer may want to try and shove as many properties as possible on this site as they are highly unlikely to make much profit if they paid ?700K for it. Rebuilt as a single dwelling would probably sit around ?800k max. I'd also like to add that this property is not unique in Hindmans Road. There is another very similar property next door to the new builds where the garage used to be situated. mikeb Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > In case relevant, the property details - > http://northwooduk.com/dulwich/sales/NWDUL_003124 > > I don't think "sold price" yet available from land > registry. monkey puzzle tree crystal palace road being felled this am
EDmummy replied to Chuckd's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've been worrying about the foundations of this building for years but will miss this fabulous tree. In early mornings during Autumn the boughs of this tree have appeared live with the gossamer webs of spiders laden with dew. I agree it had to go but it's given my kids a great deal of pleasure as we've walked past. -
ED Picturehouse - When will it open?

I'd pay staff to work 24/7 to get it ready before Christmas to see that Louisa 😉 Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If it's open by Christmas I'll personally make and > distribute homemade mince pies to every forumite > and distribute them dressed as a yummy mummy with > matching bugaboo accessory from the corner of > North cross and Lordship. > > In other words, January. > > Louisa. -
V1 & V2 Bombs dropped on Lordship Lane.

We've just been told that our neighbour's and our roofing probs are due to WW2 bomb damage from bombs that hit Hindmans Rd. Just amazing that something that happened so long ago still has effect. -
Canadian citizenship for your kids. how long did it take?
EDmummy replied to dibden's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Wow - that is a long time. I don't have experience of Canadian citizenship applications but when I applied for Aus citizenship for my kids I'm pretty sure it was about 4-6 weeks. -
What's happening to old ED police station?

I think work might be starting today on the site. Heard a builder ask the bus driver where the police station was this morning. -
