  1. You probably can already see that Saied has many great recommendations, but another one wouldn't hurt, would it? Did a really good job of replacing our rotten fence whilst taking great care of all the plants around it - and now it looks better than ever. Full of enthusiasm and knowledge, and very personable too. So, there you go, a strong recommendation, and I'm sure there'll be many more to follow.
  2. This is crappy news. I like the Silvester Rd sorting office, and actually enjoy collecting from there.
  3. Such a shame that croissants are restricted to breakfast and brunch. I'd love them for dinner or an nice desert. (With apricot jam). I do like BJs offerings within the Se22 postcode.
  4. The bass was intrusively loud where I live. Even with the window closed. And on that hot evening, I really wanted the windows open to keep cool. We put the TV on louder than normal to try and drown it out...could still hear and feel the bass. Yes, it was a party, and I want people to enjoy themselves (particularly when it doesn't stop me having a good time too)...but if they'd been, say, 25% quieter, and maybe finished an hour earlier, would they have had less fun? I was pretty tolerant of it, as I'm sure most people were, but then It was also incredibly frustrating to not have anyone to contact about it at the time. And my main concern is, if it happened this time, will it happen again and again? I know we have the usual snarks swimming in these waters waiting to take a bite out of genuine concerns, but I'm very glad to have seen I'm not the only person who thought the noise was a bit out of order.
  5. Anyone else finding the exceptionally loud music from Alleyn's school right now to be unacceptable? Been like this all evening. No consideration for neighbouring residents.
  6. My visit to the cinema on Saturday left me impressed with the venue, but I'm not impressed with the 0871 number (even as a member), especially when the money that make from that would certainly be enough to help pay a London living wage to the staff. So, happy it is open, would be happier if they did the decent thing for their staff.
  7. A bit more info for anyone interested. http://east-dulwich-forum-football.tumblr.com/
  8. I think it is Haart that have had one outside of Dulwich Lawn Close for about a year, maybe more. You can actually see the rust. Disgraceful. There should be 'remove by' dates on these boards.
  9. I'm part of a fun and casual group that plays Wednesdays and weekends (sat or sun morning depending on availability). All ages, male and female!
  10. There is a free game for Android smartphones, from Google, that has today also been made available for iPhones. It is an "Augmented Reality" game which means it uses the real world around us, and then adds extra features/information to it. Essentially, it is a game of territorial control between two factions. I've found it to be great fun, and especially good if you would like to walk/run/cycle more. Also can be very sociable if you want it to be. The game is called Ingress. There is a sci-fi narrative alongside the game, but you can ignore that. https://www.ingress.com/ The two factions are Resistance (blue) and Enlightened (green). The 'Resistance' has more members, so I recommend signing up to Enlightened to help even up the numbers. Okay, there's a couple of million players worldwide... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingress_(game)
  11. The new "orange liquid" perhaps?
  12. I, for one, welcome our new french overlords.
  13. The flea injection from the vets is the best thing. If you have fleas infesting your home, there are some good traps for catching the bleeders. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Flea-Trap

    New coffee Shop

It'd be nice to have a proper independent artisan coffee house. Something like Flying Beam (the Denmark Hill place).
  15. I love Franco Manca pizzas, but Il Mirto is just as good for me.
  16. Just noticed two ladies methodically going through bins on Colwell Road. One walked away when I approach. Tearing open bags etc. and looking through things. Never seen them around here before. I've called 101, and they're sending a car to patrol. Anyone else see them?
  17. This thread is better than the ones about dog's messing on the pavement. Hold on...did anyone see a dog in the EDT at the time of the crime? :)
  18. Miles Jupp, not Judd?
  19. > > Why do I suspect now you are actually a friend of > Richard Ayoade and he just wanted some free > advertising on the EDF...? Lolz! Good cross thread callback! :D
  20. Does anyone else lose their connection when planes fly low overhead?

    The Patch

As a veggie, I'm just glad the veggie option isn't risotto.
  22. That is amazing! I saw one on goose green about a year ago. Maybe this one was on the way to The Patch...
  23. ...once I caught a fish alive. I mean, ahem, SIX!
