  1. we have had no phoneline for last few days also - we are a 8693 number (apparently the prefix makes no difference according to the BT engineer I spoke to on Thursday) - Pipex keep texting me saying 'your phone is fixed!' I keep ringing to tell them it is not!! both my neighbours are affected and I am paying an arm and a leg to tether my mobile to my computer so I can access t'internet.....hope it comes back soon..it's amazing how much I rely on the internet - today I had to ring directory enquiries which I have not done for years!!!
  2. The night before last a white boy about 19 years old came to my door at 8.30 (after nearly hammering it down) saying he had dishcloths to sell (I did not see any) and it struck me as suspicious that he did not show me any charity ID even though he said he was selling for charity (if it looks like it is a legit charity I normally buy something even though it is expensive)- anyway I said no and he was very persistent then increasingly aggressive and so I shut the door - he still carried on shouting even after I went upstairs to carry on putting the kids to bed. Anyway, last night I heard noise outside my door at 10pm and when I went out I found 2 of my planters had been deliberately emptied onto the ground. I don't know if these two incidents are connected - but I have reported it to the police just in case. I know they are minor incidents but just be aware when you open the door!
  3. I spotted this just now in yesterdays Metro: Mia-Pierre Sosseh from East Dulwich has been missing since January 7th this year - she is 14 years old - if anyone has any information can they ring Missing People on 0500700200 or email seensomeone@missingpeople.org.uk - you can see her pic here http://formadeleine.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=ukmiss&action=display&thread=977
  4. thank you Paul I appreciate that!
  5. we used to love that pizza place - it was called chilli pizza - but they got chucked out because they didn't pay the rent for months - then they came back and did the same thing all over again - it was v handy having them there and it would be great if there were a pizza parlour again or an ice cream parlour - or indeed an ann summers - do they do an NCT discount??
  6. My husband has read this thread and just pointed out to me that what I said about drug dealing is probably libelous as no one has actually been arrested there so I had better withdraw that comment. I am sorry I said it - that's what comes of posting something in the heat of the moment! Anyway I also wanted to say that I would love it if there was a busy, friendly, responsibly run bar over the road - with a 'strict chucking out time' and no 'loud' music - I would be the first to support it - when I walk past on a sunny saturday and see the families sitting sipping their lattes/beers and eating lunch then I am in fact quite jealous of the fact that I cannot do the same - needless to say I doubt they would serve me! I really do hope that if does shut down a better place opens up.
  7. because they were sitting on the table outside the Drum - which had its doors open and drinking booze???
  8. yes I thought so too - the chicken place never got raided either and the police never sent anyone when i caught people dealing right outside my front door! - but there you go - bigger fish to fry I guess...anyway hopefully that has all stopped now - the problems are def worse in the summer when it is generally busier..and can I just point out that we do not complain every time they break the licence or something happens?? frankly it never seems to get us anywhere and I for one now try to ignore them as much as I can - just can't handle the stress with two small kids to deal with as well
  9. I believe many people here have referred to the lock ins and dodgy types - we used to have dealers who used to deal in our driveway and in the chicken place! To say we enjoy complaining is not true - we moved here when the street was actually really quiet and many of the bars and shops were residential- if you remember what the street was like before you couldn't possibly imagine it would turn out as it did. When the drum opened we did not expect the noise to be as excessive as it is - and actually having AC would solve a lot of the problems. When the chicken place was there it was awful - especially the litter! and I cannot tell you how relieved we were when it shut down - of course that was short lived when we found out The Drum had applied for a late licence. As I said B4 I have no problem with restaurants bars and cafes that are near us as long as they are respectful of their neighbours - the Thai Corner cafe is always heaving with people - and yes some of them can be very rowdy late at night but the Thai Corner cafe usually ask people to be quieter and of they don't on some occasions we let it go as they are normally pretty good - but the Drum are not - we have even had an incident where their customers were throwing fireworks under our cars the first year they opened and they did nothing about it!! do yu think that is reasonable? It is not a vendetta we are waging! if it was we would have come on the forum earlier to tell everyone about this - what spurred me to write something today was what forum members wrote about the neighbours opposite (actually I think the couple you are referring to are also our neighbours) 'being weird' etc etc - I can assure we are all quite normal friendly people - just upset about the actions of one particular establishment that we feel impinges too much on our privacy/right to be able to sleep! sorry if that offends! *edited because it may be libellous and I don't want to get anyone onto trouble, sorry if it skews the following messages*
  10. Just wanted to stick my oar in - I for one am glad they might be going - they have consistently proven themselves to be very poor neighbours - having a late night bar frequented by 'dodgy types' right opposite you is no fun believe me! - and in the summer the noise coming from the bar late at night is horrendous - they have strict terms on their licence which means they are not supposed to be out past 10 at night on the pavement and that they keep the door shut at all times (except when customers enter and leave of course) and during the winter months they do this - but as soon as it is sunny they have the doors open as they have no air conditioning -I hope that if someone else buys the lease they are more neighbourly - and also that Southwark look again at the terms of the licence and actually show an interest in imposing them! Just to point out we have have never had those kind of problems with the other businesses on Northcross Road e.g Thai Corner Cafe - even though they might have lots of drunk people inside them on a friday and saturday night! **edited because it may be libellous an I don't want to get anyone onto trouble, sorry if it skews the following messages**
