  1. I can thoroughly recommend waterbabies. Classes are not cheap but really good! http://www.waterbabies.co.uk/ Closest class is at Top Notch Health Club in London Bridge. Very easy to get to.
  2. I also shelled out for a Bugaboo Cameleon and love it. And we live in a flat and have no car and I go on buses and trains a lot! I do so much walking and it is great to push this pram around as it runs really smoothly and turns very easily. Also, my baby sleeps really well in it, so it must be very comfy for him too! It is a decent size, especially if you have a big baby. But beware, it's not cheap and there are quite a few extras (e.g. footmuff) that are quite expensive. But as somebody already said you can get really good ones second hand. We bought ours new because we are planning to have more than one child and the resale value is really good.
  3. I was in a very similar situation with my baby (now nearly 6 months) about 6 weeks ago. He would only sleep on the boob, in the sling or in the pram, refused to go into his cot. Also at very random times if at all. I decided to use Gina Ford's routines to get him into a regular feeding and napping pattern. To begin with, use any method to get your baby to sleep to get used to the timings - but try to roughly stick to the times suggested by the routine. This meant 2 hourly walks for me through the neighbourhood with him in the pram. Once he was a bit more used to the timings I started putting him down in his cot instead. I use (still do) shush pat and pick up put down, as suggested by the baby whisperer. Don't expect it to work straight away or every single time, but it has worked a lot of the times for us. Make sure the baby is drowsy but awake when you put her down. If your baby wakes up at different times as suggested by the routine (and she almost certainly will..), the rule of thumb is that your baby is mostly likely to be tired again after being awake for 2-3 hours. Then watch for the tiredness signs, i.e. eyes rubbing, yawning, crying etc and then take her to the bedroom. For us the situation has improved a lot (touch wood). The routine is by no means perfect yet but there are many days that I put my baby down for at least 1 or 2 naps in his cot and often get one reasonably long nap out of him (like 1.5 hours), the other nap around 40 mins. Hope this helps a bit.
  4. Hi, thanks everyone for your messages. Buying a house is such a big decision (and expense)! We are still undecided but know that ED is the place to be!
  5. Hi, we are still looking at a few houses in Landells Road. Do you think that the two up two downs are big enough for a growing family? We have a 6 months old boy and are planning another baby within the next 3 years.. We love the area and the houses are lovely, but wonder about the space, especially with children.. Any experience? As ever, cheers!
  6. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. Right now I am really trying to avoid any bad habits to form, this is why I am tackling it at this stage. Luckily my baby goes down easily at the beginning of the night and goes into the cot awake. Recently we have been having issues with more night time and early morning wakenings and the only thing that puts him back to sleep is the boob. Maybe he is just hungry. If we had a bad night it totally affects the next day and I am really struggling to put an overtired baby down for naps. I'll see how it goes.. Thanks!
  7. Thanks, maybe I should give them a go.
  8. I have been trying to sort out my 5 month's old sleep for ages and I am close to giving in and ask for outside help. Has anyone had any experience with hiring a maternity nurse to help with sleep issues, i.e. sleeping through the night, daytime routines, sleep associations etc? Thanks in advance from one tired mum.
  9. i think if you booked the spaces through the council they will tow the car for you if it does not move! they did this for us in west hampstead.
  10. Thanks. It is really hard to get straight answers about this. I really don't want to have to move in a couple of years by picking the wrong area. As long as there is one decent school I am happy.

  12. Is Landells Road a good road to get into one of the local primary schools? So much talk on here earlier this year about trouble getting into a local school would not want to buy somewhere only find find out it was a mistake.
  13. I think the cameleon is fantastic and well worth the money! My baby is very big but it's so roomy that he is very comfy. Also very easy to push and turn. Carry cot is suitable for overnight sleeping and your baby can take naps in it during the day or when you're out. I have taken it on buses and trains and it was very easy, even when busy. Also easy to take apart if you need to carry it up and downstairs. I do so much on foot and have never regretted the investment!
