  1. i loathe the tarmac ramps as well, but I dont actually think it was shopkeepers who were responsible for those ones outside the station. I noticed when they were doing up the pavements that they lined up with the diverted walkway instead of their being the normal plastic ramps that are installed in such circumstances.
  2. Erm that should have said digging and not dogging! Auto-correct fail!
  3. I checked on my way to station this morning. Fortunately they are relaying the pavement, not dogging up the road.
  4. please tell me you are joking Trentk69, I got the train back to ED tonight so didnt get a chance to look.
  5. While I dont agree with Quaverflava's tone, I actually did find his post quite funny. We are in an increasingly nannyish state. Yes it is annoying when people misuse such spaces (and for the record I never would; at least not during the day, I did sometimes when it was open 24hrs and I went at 2am in the morning!) but you cant always enforce all rules all the time. I think its good that Sainsbury's provide such spaces, they dont have to, but its a helpful gesture to their customers. They should not then be held responsible for not enforcing correct use of the spaces. We are all adults here and I think its a tad overdramtic to suggest that the breaking of this rule will lead to "Chaos". It comes down to personal responsibility. People will always break the rules, but that doesnt mean that we should expect Sainsbury's to act like some sort of gestapo-like parking officers.
  6. i think i may be cynical, for some reason I'm expecting it to be ruined within 2 months, either from shopkeepers adding more of those annoying tarmac ramps, or Thames Water deciding that they botched their work up and therefore having to dig it up again. I hope I'm wrong! (Im sure I will be!)
  7. so i notice that they are now pretty much finished with resurfacing the north part of Rye Lane (apart from painting the lines on). However the bottom part is still the subject of Thames Water works. Does this mean the council simply wanted to use their budget before the year end and therefore had to push on with the resurfacing? If so presumably the bottom part will not be resurfaced?
  8. Of course worth remembering that if you want to trade up a falling market is good, as losing 10% on your house is relatively less painful (in absolute terms) if you are paying 10% less on a much higher value property
  9. Alternatively, you could get the train from Peckham Rye to Farringsdon and then walk from there (about 20 mins from Farringdon). Or train from Peckham Rye to Kings Cross St Pancras and then the northern line down one stop to get to the Angel.
  10. ok, i know i've vented on this thread already today but tonight was extremely frustrating. I dont mind walking normally, and at the weekend it wouldnt bother me, but at night I just want to get home. I found myself walking down to East Dulwich road tonight. Thats almost halfway home. I really wish Thames Water would get a grip. As a previous poster said above, I noticed tonight that they were once again digging up a section that was already complete. There must be something that can be done to either force Thames water to only close the section of road which they are working on, or instead ordering them to work through the night. How can it be justified to close a road for such a period of time? aaaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh!
  11. James, Is there anything that can be done about the ongoing road works in Rye lane. By the time they are finished it will have been over six months since we have been able to be dropped off at the station at night... and if the current rumours are true, a southbound diversion is about to be initiated as well :(
  12. aaaarrrggghhhhh!!!!! Will this nightmare NEVER end. James, surely there must be something which can be done. By the time these works finish it will be over 6 months (excluding a couple of days respite in January) that this route has been affected stopping people from being dropped off at the station.
  13. Is there any chance of getting a waiting room on Platform 3 of Peckham Rye similar to that between platforms 1 and 2? Its always so cold and windy there and even standing in the stairwell does not really have any impact.
  14. lets not forget that on the first set of pipe replacement they estimated they would be gone by the middle of November, so they were at least a month behind schedule then!
  15. Looking at the Roadworks it would appear that it is actually Thames Water again rather than road resurfacing. Doe this mean that once Thames Water have gone we will then have to put up with the road being re-surfaced as well? At this point it seems likely the diversions could continue for a very long time. Its been almost 5 months now I think (beginning of September was it that it started?). Also I think I read on another thread somewhere that there is currently a proposal underway to remove the shops from the front of Peckham Rye station to bring it back to its former glory! (see old photo and future proposal attached)
  16. Has anyone seen what happened on the number 37 bus on peckham rye last week. Its pretty crazy, but i respect those being shouted at for not retaliating. WARNING: Linked video includes very very strong language.
