Is there any truth that the wings were a last minute addition after they realised that the totem looks remarkably like something else when they were absent? I think I read that on these forums at the time.

I use a broker every year local to my parents called Complete Insurance Solutions and have never had a problem. They always find me a quote significantly cheaper than I could do myself. Potager?! anyone know if / when its opening?!
spanglysteve replied to CJMAHER's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
sheesh! I wouldn't want to be starting a business round these parts, given all the 'helpful advice' on these threads from people who have presumably (mostly) never once been self-employed. -

Insufficient visual harm - what do you think?
spanglysteve replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
James, have you made your concerns known tot he law firm. As Robert Postes Child say, its likely if you make them aware that they will respond without the need for formal proceedings. -

Affordable housing while noble, is flawed in its current implementation. If a developer built 16 flats in Central London which have a theoretical market value of ?800k each he gets ?12.8m. Say 6 had to be affordable at a cost of ?300k. The developer has then lost ?3m (6*(800-300)). Why not instead allow the developer to sell all the flats at market value but then require him to reinvest ?2m in an affordable block in cheaper areas. The developer could combine this ?2m with other such amounts from their other developments to then build a larger block of affordable flats therefore getting better value for money and greater economies of scale. The developer wins as they get effectively ?1m more profit than they would otherwise, and society wins by a greater number of both prime and affordable homes being built.

You may have previously been on time, but without doing the fundamental work they are now doing at London Bridge, over the years your journey would have got progressively worse. There is never a good time to do a major remodelling of a station and the approach tracks into it (which is the real problem currently), but in suffering this pain for the next few years a tonne of extra capacity can be released which is what we are all fundamentally asking for. We just have to realise that these things take time to complete as every effort is made to keep the station functioning which temporarily reduces its capacity. -

First look at proposed new Station Square in Peckham
spanglysteve replied to Rolo Tomasi's topic in The Lounge
How about an M&S or Waitrose? ;-) seriously though, I think I read somewhere on this forum years ago that when it was thought HS1 was going to route through Peckham years ago, British Rail compulsory purchased all the retail units so that they could knock them down. However when the route changed, they sold them back to the existing tenants. Therefore it's not easy to evict them. They mostly all own their property and so can run their businesses very cheaply. There is little incentive for them to spend money improving their property. Of course if they were pioneering they would realise the value of what they have and do it up to sell to name brand retail. -

Bus Route 12 to get Boris Buses
spanglysteve replied to Bic Basher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
As i understand it, they do not want to install air-con as it goes against what they are trying to achieve environmentally. Although that strategy is a bit hit and miss as both the underground and forthcoming cross rail will have air-con. -
Every morning when I am walking to the bus stop around 6:30am there is a white cat in St Aidens Road. It is always screaming for attention and looks neglected to me. Even on mornings when its been bitterly cold in the winter it appears to be locked out of its home. I always say hello to the cat as I feel sorry for it. Tonight it followed me home and tried to get into my house, but i didn't let it in. It then sat outside my window crying to be lt in for over half an hour. I really do believe this cat is being neglected by its owner. Previously its fur had got so long that it was all extremely matted, but it looks like at least someone has trimmed it now so its not suffering pain from that anymore. Has anyone else noticed this poor looking cat? I don't know what to do about it.

Good news, they have restored the temporary stop on Copeland road
-
According to tfl Twitter it's due to emergency roadworks. When I walked down rye lane there were hopes all over it. I think they are looking for a leaking main. Could I guess there is no indication at the moment of likely durations :(
-
All, to be aware, there are no busses up rye lane, and this morning there was no temporary stops after Nigel Road. Therefore to get to the station your only options are Nigel Road or Peckham library!!

Changes to train times between ED & LB
spanglysteve replied to ksh's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If they do continue to LB why not just run it full service in that case. It would only add a couple of minutes for the train to disembark. No need to run full service back (allowing time for boarding) as presumably the demand is far less leaving LB in the morning.
