  1. Great idea Sillywoman! I'd love to be able to help anyone who is a little daunted about OH going back to work and being home alone with their lovely new (and possibly screaming) baby by bringing cake and a smiley face! Just shout if you are in need as there is always a ready supply of cake coming out of my kitchen and if someone else doesn't start eating it soon I am never going to shift this baby weight...!!
  2. I'd love to join you too with baby Knomester who is nearly 5 months old if you are still meeting up? Thanks
  3. This is my recipe Fuschia: http://thegingergourmand.blogspot.com/2010/01/banana-walnut-cake.html You can leave the walnuts out or substitute for pecans or even chocolate chunks (dark works best) if you like. It's a really moist loaf cake.
  4. Safely ensconced in Nero. Not exactly tucked away as all the nooks and crannies were full but most importantly Baby Knomester is having his elevenses!
  5. I'm just about to head up to town shopping with Baby Knomester and he'll be needing a feed as soon as we arrive at Charing Cross. Does anyone, by qny chance, know if there's a cafe or similar where I can feed comfortably???? Also going to be in and around Covent Garden for a feed or two. Again, any recommendations on where to go? Thanks ever so much (right, I'm back off to packing buggy and change bag with military precision...!).
  6. Yes this one will need a wash at lunchtime!!!
  7. Good plan...we usually do story time, etc just before naps when he's getting tired, but could easily switch things around.
  8. Thanks! It's difficult to stop him as he's intent on rolling constantly at the moment and I certainly don't want to stifle him! It's partially digested milk (clotted...sorry if TMI) thats coming up. He's not phased by it anyway...just me!
  9. My little one who is 19 weeks started rolling from his back onto his front recently (but has so far only rolled back again once!). Over the past couple of days he has started being sick when he's lay on his tummy having just rolled over - especially this morning when he was sick 3 or 4 times (each with a separate roll). It's only a bit but, as he's not otherwise a sicky baby, I just wondered if this happened with anyone else's babies? Thanks
  10. Thank you all for the invaluable advice. We tried him in the Ikea one at a friend's house yesterday and it was OK but I think we'd like the flexibility of the trip trap (so long as it fits our dining table - must measure up!).
  11. As far as I know there isn't a child version is there? The one I have says suitable for all ages... I bought it at the Day Lewis chemist on Forest Hill Road.
  12. Great idea, particularly if one person didn't need to book the 'cinema' but instead groups could form to fill the space (like the book club idea someone mentioned). At the moment what would suit me best would be weekday afternoon screenings if it would be possible to get a group of parents together who could bring their babies along (like the scream screenings at Brixton / Greenwich). If I didn't have Baby Knomester to look after I'd certainly consider it for a private party for Mr Knomester's birthday on a weekend afternoon or evening for example.
  13. Was last night any better? Hope so...
  14. Poor you.... We have those sorts of nights every so often. Totally out of character and (thankfully) usually seem to just be the odd night or two before Baby GG gets back into his normal pattern. I put them down to growth or developmental changes because (apart from one on Boxing Day night when it was illness) there never seems to be another reason. Try not to worry and hopefully it'll pass and baby will be back on form soon... (Happy New Year!)
  15. Happy New Year!
  16. Thank you all. A few different options there for me to have a look at... Realise now that I need to decide when we will use the high chair, what for (just mealtimes or more) and for how long. So much to think about for every little thing!!
  17. We're looking to buy a highchair for Baby Knomester - he doesn't need it just yet, but thought there may be some reductions in the sales. I'd be really grateful for any views on what we should be looking for... Stand alone v one that attaches to a chair, with a tray v one that pushes right up to the table, things to look out for, etc, etc Thanks :-)
  18. Oh Fuschia I'm so sorry to hear that your new baby has a tongue tie, and that there's such a wait. I would have to say from our experience though that it will be worth every penny getting it done privately if you can get it done quickly. We had quite a delay (not because of the clinic but because noone diagnosed the tongue tie earlier) and it led to untold problems (aside from the time and hassle that you are currently experiencing). I do hope you can afford to pay privately.
  19. Great news Moos :-) Do keep up the massage as they can grow back so quickly as Baby Knomesters started to do.
  20. I reswaddle before night feeds so I don't need to unsettle Baby Knomester after the feed.
  21. I'm glad it's not just me who gets irrationally angry :-) I have been known to tape a note to the door asking people not to knock...!
  22. I just thought I'd give an update so that anyone who has problems like I have had can see that there is light at the end of the tunnel... Baby Knomester was 12 weeks old last Monday and I currently do not have one single open sore or crack :-) The skin hasn't completely regrown yet, but it's getting there slowly. The thrush symptoms have (fingers crossed!) also subsided. All of which is making BF a much easier and less painful process. I was chatting to my husband last night about the little things that make me realise how far I've come - I can wear more structured bras, wrap a towel around myself after my shower, cuddle my husband (!), wind Baby Knomester over my shoulder - examples of things I wasn't able to do for weeks and weeks, even when taking lots of painkillers. I'm hoping we're on the home straight now...
  23. Best of luck Moos... It's not nice hanging around all afternoon with screaming babies, or seeing your little one after the procedure, but you can be sure they don't remember a thing and the minute they're latched on (seconds after the procedure) Twosling will be content and all will be forgotten. In my experience it's Mum who will be far more anxious and upset :-) I'm sure it will all go well and you'll be on the road to better and better feeding.
  24. I've only driven locally twice since Baby Knomester was born 12 weeks ago. I could have managed both journeys by walking / using public transport and to be honest I prefer to walk no hate putting him in the car seat with his back all curled up! We did however drive to visit relatives and spend a week away and we couldn't have done that any other way. We will also be driving up North for Christmas - I'm not sure we'd manage all of his paraphernalia and Chrismas presents on the train :-) As someone else said, if your other half drives you should be fine.
  25. Thank you thank you! I think we'll definitely rule out the XLR and road (shop) test the XT and the Quest. I think I'm erring towards the XT as the Quest is only 0.4kg lighter than the XT and not much more compact but the XT looks like it'll be a more comfortable ride for Baby Knomester.
