  1. Hi, I lived in holland for 30 years, feel Dutch and miss my Dutch friends. I was raised bilingual and benefit from it every day! I would love to meet up, Kate
  2. Hi, Looking for a good quality amateur pantomime in SE London, where kids are actively encouraged to get involved. I have grandparents and a 4 year old who would love to go. Have you been to one last year or know of one coming to SE London this year - I would love to know. Thanks Kate
  3. Thanks for all your views and shares of experiences. Much appreciated! I will slowly train her to learn how to wipe properly, starting from tomorrow, but will urge her also to refrain from going for a no 2 at school. I'm hoping she will be able to wait until she gets home... It feels like she is growing up so fast already, having this issue just makes it even more real. Thanks again.
  4. We have just had a visit form two teachers from a local pre school who mentioned that the boys and girls will all have to be able to wipe their own bums after a number 2. This is due to...gues what... Health and safety. My jaw dropped as I don't really want my little girl to be wiping her own as I consider that something for older girls. We have tried and it got EVERYWHERE.... The teachers are allowed to tell them what to do - fat lot of help that will be. Is it just me or is this ridiculous? The thought of her having to do this is no less worrying than the kids who will be doing it and 'forget' to wash their hands afterwards. Is this not a greater safely and health hazard? Is it me or is this just taking health and safety a step too far once again?
  5. Does anyone know if the water is still on at these parks for September? Thanks K
  6. Hi, we are looking to go to Italy for our spring / summer holiday and with a 3.5yr old and a 1 yr old. Wondering if any of you have seen / been to a NICE bungalow park with child friendly facilities on site in a pretty surrounding (i.e no camping / campsite / mobile home park). We are eagerly looking to find similar parks to the ones here at Center Parcs for example. I know they (CP's) exist in France etc. But Italy? Alternatively, a relaxing, child friendly apartment set up with one or two nice rustic restaurants on site but with self caterinbg options (i.e kitchen in the apartment). Preferably near a beach / lake. A pool and baby pool are a must (sounds obvious) as is a nice playground. Ant tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! Kate

  9. Hi Bluesuperted, Thank you so much for your message. It was very calming to read your experiences and advice. She is gaining weight and only sick once every 36 hours or so (not after a particular feed really). Am just keeping loads of cloths around and yes... washing til the cows come home. Did they ever suggest to cut out your dairy intake? Thanks again.
  10. Thanks for your message. I am breastfeeding solely at the moment. She has been vomiting since the early days, but not every day. It can come after any feed, no feed in particular. No mucus or blood so far (I would take her to see a GP of course if this is the case). And body temp is normal. She does not seem bothered about it at all and remains calm, she's in no pain that is for sure. She is very alert and happy and content in herself. Hence I am not over worried. If this changes I will seek medical help and HV advice. Thanks for your help!
  11. hi, My newboirn is 4 weeks old and every day she projectile vomits usually once. They say their little stomachs are not much bigger than a ping pong ball at this stage, but the amount coming back up is more than that I can tell you... (sorry if this is stomach turning)does anyone have experience / advice on projectile vomiting with newborns? i read that it may be related to my dairy intake.Does anyone have any experience doing this? I'm not extremely worried as i know PV is common in newborns (overeating etc), but when milk supplies are ok - not brilliant - I am slightly worried. Thanks LMI
  12. Hi, For those interested in meeting second time mums (see previous post) - a small group of us are meeting at Green and Blue TONIGHT from 8pm (Lordship Lane - ED). Please join us if you can - apologies for the short notice but the email list is growing so let me know if you want to be added to this second time mum-list and will organise another evening / afternoon soon. Please PM me your email address and telephone number? Thanks, Kate
  13. Hi, Think many of us are gearing up to maternity leave and arrivals. I was wondering if there are any second time mums on this thread that would be keen to meet up on a regular basis? With or without toddlers, could be in the park or home play dates depending on numbers I guess. I have a 2.5 year old little girl and expecting our second baby mid July. I would love to get to know some mums who are in similar positions and who have toddlers to entertain. PM me if you are keen to meet up (with your email address and phone number), I will then get organised and start a mailing list and organise a first meet-up. Hope to meet you soon! Kate
  14. swear by Metanium - each and every time.
  15. Hi all, I will be a second time mum, with toddler of 2 years +3months. Can't quite get my head around having two little people to take care of soon... scary thoughts as I felt there was not enough time in a day first time round... Nice to see there will be so many new summer babies. Keen to meet up with mums and toddlers and soon-arriving newborns. Kate
  16. Hi, Hope you don't mind me asking - What is your main concern about still having a bottle? For most babies / toddlers it is more the comfort of sucking in my opinion than the contents. I personally would not take such comfort away if he/she is still so dependant on it. We've started to water down the milk, hoping to eventually have cloudy water (95%). But we all know that they do grow out of it, but forcing them to quit sooner than that they are ready might be worth re-thinking about. (mine is 26 months old and still loves her bottle - we just make sure she brushes her teeth before and first thin in the morning). K
  17. Hi Crystal7, Thank you very much for your reply and certainly helps! appreciate it! Thanks, Kate
  18. Hi, We are looking to take on a childminder but having spoken to quite a few ofsted registered childminders I am hearing different things about pay over holidays and sick days. Q1:4 weeks annual leave is v reasonable but should we as the family pay for these seen they are self-employed? (I understand with nanny's this is the case as you as the family are the employer). Q2: if we as a family decide to go on holiday outside the childminders holiday/annual leave, should we still pay for this (as you do with nurseries / nannies)? Q3: when childminder is ill or her children are ill in which case she cannot work - is the family liable to pay on these days? I would like to understand what you have arranged and how it works for you. Thanks a lot for your help!! Kate
  19. Can def recommend Baby Sensory (between Honour Oak and Forest Hill) Chee is a lovely lady and the babies seemed to really enjoy it and flourish. Prob best from 5 months. Have fun!
  20. This starry eyed 'tune' (the first 3 words) just stay in your head ---- gets annoying after 3 weekends running! Prefer the chilled out version I must say.... Does anyone else suffer from ' I'm on my way to work today.....' (Me Too) on some mornings..... try getting it out of your head, is impossible!
  21. Hi, my little girl suffered from very itchy (excema) sore cheeks. Doctor prescribed cortisone cream, which helped temporarily. BUT I cut out cows' milk and this solved the problem overnight!!! We switched to goats' milk / yoghurt which she has no problem with. Likes the taste and it does not affect her at all!! No more excema! May I suggest you cut cows milk out of your diet as you are still breastfeeding and see if this helps? Or even switch to goats milk formula? Good luck!
  22. Hi everyone, Can you help us? We are looking around for a mid-range July holiday - the first with our toddler. Can anyone recommend a small / friendly resort / complex / hotel kind of place near to /on the beach, which also has a pool & is child friendly in Normandy or Brittany? We do not fancy camping but need a little comfort and also some (on site) restaurants nearby. We are open to your suggestions and especially your recommendations - as we are struggling to find our first perfect holiday. Many thanks, any help much appreciated!
  23. Hi, My mother in law (55)is currently staying with us due to seperation with dad in law. I think it would be nice for her to meet some new people, in maybe the same situation to meet up for a coffee or chat. Can anyone recommend any friendly and informal (women) chat groups in ED area? Or suggest what she could do during her (indefinite) stay here to help her and move on? Thanks a lot!
