  1. Sounds excellent to me... I have flu jab at The Gardens clinic - walk in from 4pm! I have arranged for deliveries to come on Wednesday though, so may have to dash back and forth to collect them!! Re: spreadsheet - I think it should work if you right click and choose 'Save target as...'??
  2. The Winter Baby Club Spreadsheet (public version) Hello, At the last meetup I took down contact details for the small group of us who were there and have combined this with the list on the forum so far. This is the public version without contact details, and I've just added a new column in there for maternity leave start dates. Rather than have a gazillion new messages on the forum just to populate the sheet, I think we'll just bring it along to each meetup and fill it up as we go along...! x
  3. haha, amazing thread... I have been to festivals recently (well not so recently as am now 7 months pregnant), but I can definitely attest to the sheer brilliance of She Pees! (not *quite* the same as a Pee-Pee teepee)
  4. yep... maternity leave is still too long away sadly!! I'm going to be 'working from home' on Wednesday as have got flu jab and antenatal appointment - Electrical Cafe would be ideal! Think plan has changed to just meet on Thursdays every fortnight - so next one will be 3rd November. We thought it might be helpful to still alternate with The Gowlett though, as it's actually a more convenient location for a few of us!
  5. ahh bless.. congrats Sal! Another one for the girl baby club. :) Good to hear everything is looking healthy so far, despite the extra fluids. Fingers crossed all will be okay. See you on Thurs. xx
  6. I'm going to my GP's walk in flu clinic, but it's not for another 2 weeks. :-s Starting to feel a bit paranoid now and wonder if I should try and get one sooner??!
  7. hello - I'm with the Gardens Surgery and can confirm this is def their document! :)
  8. Quite possible that fortnightly would be better - or it could have just been a bit unfortunate this week as lots of people have colds at the moment?! Just to note - The Actress was pretty busy when we went last Thursday and I think it was also a bit hard for people to spot us until we were a big enough group. I don't know if we might be able to book an area for next week? PS - I am definitely feeling a need to set up an uber-spreadsheet! Will organise it at the next meet... xx
  9. oh no! that's really sad - I wasn't going to be able to make it tonight due to other plans, but I cancelled them as I'm also down with this rubbish cold going around... I should be there next Thursday though so hopefully see a few of you then. do people want to share phone numbers / emails? If so, we could add the info to the due dates list when we next meet up and create some sort of uber spreadsheet! xx
  10. I don't think I can make it next Tuesday unfortunately so hopefully there'll be a few more of us turning up tonight!
  11. Heya - I'll be popping along for 7pm tonight, but won't be staying for dinner this time. Look forward to seeing you later. :)
  12. Oh dear Anna! Sorry to hear that... I'm sure your luck will change! I really enjoyed seeing everyone last night too. Thanks once again to our lovely organisers. I am glad we're going to The Actress next time though - think I might get pizza'ed out otherwise (potentially going to have had 3 this week!). Also, hubby read my last message and is not impressed with my assessment of his cooking skills... :-$
  13. Separate dad's thing or shall we just bring them along to ours to start with? Esp. if it's going to be weekly anyways? I keep leaving my hubby at home to fend for himself but he's completely rubbish at cooking! Once a few of them have met and get chatting I'm sure they may be more motivated to organise their own casual meetups. (PS - Caroline, I've just bought some Gaviscon. Decided I can't wait until Thursday when the next available phone slot with the Dr might be!!) S
  14. Gowlett (or any other pub) sounds like a good plan to me - people can come and go as they please so we don't need to be so organised on table numbers etc! I'm guessing there may be folks out there who regularly won't be able to make Tuesdays though, so having an occasional alternative get together doing a different activity also sounds like it could be useful (and fun!). Perhaps we could do the ceramics cafe sometime? Scarlet Peacock also runs workshops there - though I think those are quite pricey! x
  15. Ditto to the above! I'm in for Tuesday. Socialising so close to home is great. ;) See you all then!
  16. Hi ladies, I've spoken to Kristin Hayward and she charges ?199 for a 6 hour hypnobirthing course. It's run over 2 weeks on a weekday evening 7-10pm at her house in Herne Hill for 3 couples. Alternatively, if anyone would like to host at their house (e.g. because of childcare issues / difficulty with travelling - and as it would be more convenient for the group overall) then she's also happy to travel to us. The group size can be bigger but as she's using her own home at the moment doesn't have space for more than 3. Unfortunately I think my living room would be far too small! The fee includes the Marie Mongan book, mp3 downloads and some practical worksheets (scripts etc.). I was thinking of booking in for Monday 19th and 26th September. Please let me know if you want to join? If you'd like to speak to her directly before deciding, you can call her on her mob or email. 07963 046 456, [email protected]. If there's a lot of interest - we could maybe invite her to stop by our meet on the 27th for a brief talk. Obviously won't do if some people would really rather not! And by that point if a few of us have already tried it out, then we can tell you what we thought then! S
  17. hi goldielab, thanks for sharing your experience. is your friend based anywhere near east dulwich / be willing to run courses in the area? there are a few of us in the winter babies club looking for a practitioner. thanks!
  18. I'm keen on using a sling... just looks so much more convenient to have your hands free!! And the babies seem to enjoy it too. If anyone does spot a SlingMeet coming up locally, please let me know! I was also thinking of trying to visit this place some time: http://southlondonslings.com/ Btw, I've started to make a few enquiries re: hypnobirthing courses. If anyone else is interested please let me know - if there's a few of us then maybe we can get a course run for us as a group. S
  19. lol... ditto. Just can't help it whenever anyone mentions pelvic floors!! Lovely to meet you all - thanks for organising everything Caroline. Tues 27th works for me! Sara (whose parents didn't know how to spell) x
  20. hi Tomo, I've just signed up with Sofie Jacobs this week. I looked at the NCT classes but they are slightly more expensive. I liked that Sofie is a trained midwife and also covers caring for baby after birth. But you've still got plenty of time to decide! I also started a thread on hypnobirthing if you haven't seen it already: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,727582,729550#msg-729550 I've been given a book and some cd's on the topic by anna_r (who is also selling a bugaboo cameleon on here if anyone is looking). i've only read a few of the pages that she'd tabbed but all v. interesting so far... Now just to find a good course!!
  21. these are really helpful replies and great to hear no regrets from those who have tried it. I'm going to check out the suggestions and hopefully talk hubby round! thanks everyone :)
  22. that's okay - i don't mind! Just interested to hear directly from people's experiences and where they went for classes (or not as the case may be). My aunt said she saw some really good results with it, and her practice decided to recommend that all their ladies take classes. They had a practitioner for 5 years, but she's based up in Yorkshire(!) Hubby is extremely sceptical about these things. Personally, I can see how having the right frame of mind would help - also from giving bikram yoga a go last year and seeing how my body could suddenly do all sorts of things when I actually focused!
  23. Hello, A friend of mine is trying hypnobirthing (due in September), and my aunt who retired as a midwife earlier this year also mentioned it to me. Just wondered if anyone around here has tried it and what they thought? Also when is a good time to start? I'm due at the end of the year.. Thanks!
  24. Hello - I use the forum all the time but I've only just discovered this thread! I'm due my first on 22nd December. I'd like to join you at Green & Blue on Thurs too if there's space... Only really just starting to get into this whole baby thing... Thanks!
