  1. Unfortunately, I wasn't overly impressed by these burgers - they were OK but a bit small and we definitely don't have a Sweeney Todd situation! The vegan cheese was really nice, though. The worst bit was the fries - not very nice at all and definitely undercooked. Maybe it's still just teething problems...
  2. I am so gutted by this news. I never even really understood what a councillor did or could do until I moved to East Dulwich in 2010 and encountered James and his passion for this area and for making it better. He's always replied to my emails and messages on here so quickly and with genuine interest and enthusiasm. A real loss, whichever party you support at national level. Thanks so much, James, and I wish you well!
  3. James, thanks for looking into it - massively appreciated.
  4. Oh, that's terrible but good to know what caused it. Sounds like a v dodgy building company. The way the tree's been left is just horrible...
  5. Hello, on Colwell Road, some builders appear to have roughly hacked off one of the street trees, presumably to make way for some of their equipment. Surely this is illegal as it is council property? I can stand walking past the tree now as it was so beautiful in spring and now looks so destroyed. Builders appear to be still there as scaffolding is still up. Is there anything you can do?
  6. I 100% agree with this. Loud bars on a Friday night when you might fancy a dance are one thing. Pubs, where you meet up.with groups of friends for a chinwag, are another. I don't meet in any of the pubs along the lane now as I just can't hear a bloody thing... It's a shame as I miss that lovely sound of lively chatter on a post-work evening. Would rather hear that than some crappy bass lines.
  7. I'd be interested, especially if it had a diverse range of activities - interesting talks, films, creative workshops (as well as the usual crafts!). And yes to the E.D. Women's Institute as the name :-)
  8. Isn't that harmful to the cats? I've heard of mothball poisoning, if that's the same thing.
  9. Oh my goodness, this forum! Memsaab was delicious, Tart in Clapham was delicious when I went there. They are both tasty. The tarts are properly massive and you definitely get a lot for your buck, but it comes under 'treat lunch'. I can't afford to eat places like that all the time, but sometimes you fancy splashing out and indulging yourself!
  10. The one in Clapham is really nice, good for lunches.
  11. Let's help London's pollution problem by cutting down all the trees! Also, interesting choice of adjective. Never seen arboreal fat shaming before...
  12. So nice to see a story like this on the forum! Well done to everyone who helped out, you're all lovely :-)
  13. I am going to stick up for Le Chandelier! Love the cakes, the teas, the pastries. Really sweet d?cor and vibe. I'd be v sad to see it go.
  14. This is a grave matter and should be discussed as a community. To Boulangerie Jade, I tell thee!
  15. It was brilliant, such a warm and positive vibe. This is about where the cuts are targeted. 120 billion in corporate tax avoidance and yet the poor and vulnerable always incur the penalty.
  16. I suggest a read of Silent Spring.
  17. Nearly every thread on this forum ends up a farce. Depressing!
  18. That's a shame, loved their twist on ska!
  19. Goodbye NHS, it's been a blast....
  20. Anyone got the latest intel on the shop formerly known as Haus of Wood?
  21. Great. Just what I'd like to see. A restaurant that dodges tax and serves chicken that never sees the light of day, or has room to move, until happy slaughter day. Power to the people.
  22. Wow, I'm going to get so fat! Sounds delicious. Good luck!
  23. Thameslink is always delayed and you def don't get a seat from D Hill. Even at E.D station at 11.15 this morning (not rush hour) a train was suddenly cancelled without warning. East Dulwich is a lovely place to live but guaranteed to give you high blood pressure if you ever want to/have to leave it.
  24. I really like their designs. Good luck to another local venture...
  25. Am interested too! Happy to dm my email address.
