  1. Thank you
  2. Hi I'm looking for recommendations for mother daughter counselling. Thanks
  3. Hi there I'm looking for a science tutor to help with my daughter's triple science GCSEs. Any recommendations gratefully received. Thanks
  4. No, I haven?t. But will. Thanks for the tip.
  5. Hi I'm looking for recommendations for a family holiday for my two kids (12 and 9), my husband (with broken leg) and myself. It has to be in the UK due to the leg breakage. I'd like somewhere that has activities that the kids can go off on their own to, decent accommodation and somewhere that my husband and I can relax. I guess a bit like Centre Parcs, but maybe a little nicer. Any suggestions?
  6. Thanks. We are only covered for third party, fire and theft.
  7. A red Mercedes S class smashed into our parked car a couple of weeks ago, causing ?1000's of damage. As we did not get a number plate, neither our insurance nor the MIB will investigate further. As it was a damage only accident, the police are not looking into it either. Then last Thursday our car was hit again, causing a great deal more damage. This time we got the number plate and found, to our relief, that he was fully insured and admits all culpability. However, as he unfortunately had a stroke at the wheel causing the accident, the insurers say that he was not driving negligently, so they will not cover the damage. Can this be so? Can anyone give us advice?
  8. That's really helpful Thanks
  9. Thanks. What kind did you get? How much do you spend on salt? Did you get it tailored to the local water and house type? My mind is spinning with the options. I hear there are ones you can buy that don't need salt.
  10. As a northern lass, I'm missing the soft water and looking to install a water softener. Does anyone have any advice/recommendations? Thanks
  11. We have been with M&S Home insurance for 5 years. I decided to investigate to see if we were getting the best deal, so I asked for a requote. We were paying ?560 per year, our requote was ?240! It's shocking that this company should reward loyal customers with such appalling disdain.
  12. Hi Renata Thanks for taking the time out to explain this. It really is a shame that its fate has been sealed. It gives great character to the area. Please could you tell me the planning reference number for the application for removal, as I can't find it on Southwark's website? Thanks again
  13. I have just seen that a beautiful old beech tree on the corner of Linden Grove and Evelina Road in Nunhead is scheduled to be cut down tomorrow. This tree is in a Conservation Area and if it wasn't on Southwark Council owned land, removal would never have been permitted. Please email [email protected] if you would like to object to this felling. Hopefully it is not too late.
  14. I'm going on holiday to warmer climes this Christmas and after a comment from my husband about the fluorescent whiteness of my legs, I'm considering getting a spray tan. However, my friend has warned me against it, recommending I just use some St Tropez cream and do it myself. Has anyone had a bad experience, or even a good experience with spray tans? Thanks
  15. There is also a badminton club on Thursday evenings - 8-10pm up at Haberdasher's sports grounds in Nunhead.
  16. Red Devil is right. From 30th May this year for 3 years you can get a 6m long rear extension measured from the rear wall you are extending from (8m if a detached house) under permitted development rights, unless one of your adjacent neighbours objects, then it has to go through the planning process. Looks to me like we are going to have a lot of feuding neighbours and ugly extensions around in the near future!
  17. Hello I have one for sale. Some wear and tear, but still works fine. Will accept offers. I can send more photos, but can't attach due to file size.
  18. .
  19. My friend bought fish from a mobile fishmonger and realised later that he had given her much less than she had paid for. Make sure you weigh before you pay.
  20. I'm trying to organise one for Telegraph Hill. Maybe we could join forces, or at least discuss how it can work.
  21. Thanks for your response. It's Edmund Waller, the other side of Nunhead.
  22. I'm concerned that my daughter's school is taking the softly, softly approach to teaching too far. Do your children learn spellings in years 1 and 2? Do they have spelling tests? If so, please let me know what they are given and which school they go to. Thanks
  23. As a flat, you do not have permitted development rights but if you build out only 3m from the back of your flat and 3m or less tall you would probably get planing permission, althought there are other factors to consider, like size of garden etc. I agree that pre-applicaiton advice is not worth it. Southwark are so stretched that they have made it unattractive for small projects. It takes up too much of their time. A planner is also unlikely to give you any advice without drawings in front of him/her. Best bet is to get an architect round to advise you. Good luck.
  24. Thank you.
  25. I'm not sure if this is the correct section, sorry if not. I'm looking for somewhere to stay for the weekend 19th-21st October in the New Forest for two families of four. Any recommendations? Thanks
