Sue Wrote: > > Maybe you don't care about a lot of things, it > doesn't mean to say other people might not like to > have their voice heard. Sue, sorry but you don't know me and to suggest I might not care about a lot of things is rather poor. I have, as others have, expressed my view but you seem to not accept that others can and are likely to disagree with you.

'I don't have time to do further research at the moment, but I'm sure I can find loads more examples' I think Sue, we get the message...but we don't have to agree with you and I'm in the camp of 'who cares?!'. The colour really doesn't bother me at all - I just wish they would be collected when they say they should be.

No more Indian eateries please! Whether specialising or not, there are already plenty to choose from on LL alone but as others have suggested there are also some very good ones in the surrounding areas - competition is a good thing but in this case it may not work in your favour. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Nisha is leaving Val's and East Dulwich this week
Champers replied to Horsebox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oh this is sad news - its such a shame especially as I know how hard she has been trying to keep the business going. I always bypass Sainsburys Local and go to Nisha for fresh fruit and vegetables - it's so much better and you get such a friendly service. Really very sad to see her go. All the best Nisha to you and your family! I will continue to support the local independent shops though so good luck to the new owners and I will be popping in soon! -
Frankito, for me it has to be Swadesh. I have tried most of the takeaways on LL and I keep going back to Swadesh. The dhansaks are spicy so if you like it hot (but not Vindaloo level), one I recommend. The biriyani's are pretty spicy but very tasty. However, more recently I have tried the Lamb Palak which is much milder in the heat department but I have never tasted such tender lamb before - it melts in your mouth. None of the dishes I have ever had there have been swimming in ghee or been bland. I guess I keep going back as I've only ever had good food from there. I'll be interested in your final choice though. Happy curry night :)

What a terrible think to happen to you Mary Lou. Glad you're ok and well done to the man who did stop - there are some lovely, kind people around.

Thanks for the warning and glad the girls are ok. Have you let the police know at all? They may have had other reports of him. -
2 Lollipop men on Lordship Lane

James thanks for finding this out and I think you should be making a case for them. Putting the funding to one side, I think most people would like to see kids looked after as much as possible when crossing the roads and during all school term times regardless of which school. I don't have kids but the two lollipop men on Townley Rd are lovely chaps and on the few occasions I happen to be walking their way they always manage to put a smile on my face. -
Whoops - it has just started to snow again..... a light flurry :-$
-
On Lordship Lane right now, it is not snowing and the road is being used as normal. I have seen some snow still on some pavements and side roads but turning to slush. Not sure what the trains are like but buses appear to be running ok. All could change if there's more snow this afternoon but looks ok for the moment.

Champers replied to kindaha's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I personally don't rate DMC as I have had a number of issues with them but from what I hear they are better than others around here. Good Luck in finding one :) -
Traffic on Lordship Lane (Roadworks at Forest Hill end)
Champers replied to indiej25's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The gas smell is horrendous! We live further down on LL and we can smell gas - surely this is not right?! I did see some work going on there last night - another digger which managed to hold up the already held up traffic from the other works at the Plough junction. Does anyone know if we can do anything here? -
Squirrel on the menu at Franklins according to BBC
Champers replied to missus's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
expat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > >We've been there quite a few times > Why do you keep going back if you do not like it? Well I guess its giving a place a go with its award winning breakfasts and tantalising lunches and dinners....or sadly its not having a choice when friends or family want to 'try it out'. I know there are much better places to go to now I have explored what ED has to offer. -
Squirrel on the menu at Franklins according to BBC
Champers replied to missus's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have to say I haven't been overwhelmed by Franklins. We've been there quite a few times for brekkie, lunch and dinner but always walked away feeling like we have burnt a hole in our wallets and only had a mediocre meal as a result. I have seen squirrel on the menu earlier this year - saw one of the other tables have it but didn't feel tempted at all so stuck to my duck which was too dry to eat ....hmmmmnnn!:( -
Bad dog owners (dogs mess)
Champers replied to toomuchchocolate's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have just seen a Southwark council van turn up on our road with the guy painting a sign on the pavement next to the poo bin warning dog owners of fines. This was after he picked up dog mess on the pavement next to the poo bin! Not sure if the irresponsible dog owner will pay too much attention when they walk passed that sign and the poo bin again! -
Dano, I think you have had lots of different advice here so I won't be able to add anything new other than welldone for being so honest. Good luck with finding the owner who I am sure will be grateful.

I think its a disgrace when people cannot take their own litter and put it in a bin. I understand the points above about not a lot of bins around sometimes when you need one but like good citizens you have kept hold of it until you find a bin. I think thats the difference between people who care and those who don't - you clearly do care. Personally, I believe we should all take responsibility and leaving litter in public places is disrespectful, lazy and inconsiderate.

Sadly, this is the society we live in. It doesn't make it right, its horrible but well done for trying to get the guy to do something - I'm not sure I would have had the guts to say anything as I'm a big softie.
