  1. Well said Rara and ratty!
  2. This is so sad. Apart from a few exceptions, I seem to have found myself among a sea of tory voices. Is this representative of east dulwich or is it just representative of this forum?
  3. Just wondered if anyone else is struggling with the outcome of the election and the prospect of another 5 years of this regime? I had such hope for change and now I fear that if change ever does come it will be too late. The welfare state and public services will have been well and truly dismantled in 5 years time and we will need a truly radical opposition to rebuild them. Anyone else feeling similarly downhearted?
  4. i will stick to skips in future
  5. Ok, I won't rummage in any more bins
  6. Oh yes.. and what university? By the time they grow up it will be some privately run educational establishment which they will sue if they don't get a degree..
  7. KFord-'I suspect they'll be at uni, working and paying for your pension. If the biggest issue in your ED life is that the pavements are occasionally blocked by a 'designer buggie' or that a child makes a noise in cafe, then you should count yourself lucky.' What pension?! I imagine these young narcissists will do very well in the private sector, plundering and looting anything that remains of the public sector with little or no social conscience at all!
  8. So here we have it, scratch the surface of the east dulwich urban idyll and we have a bunch of rabid reactionaries demanding some sort of totalitarian state...I wonder how the current crop of middle class east dulwich offspring will turn out. Their enormous designer buggies block the pavements, they rampage and scream through the cafes and shops to be met only with adoring words and glances from parents who seem unaware of anyone else, let alone imparting respect for others. These children are taught that the world revolves around them and no doubt they will grow up expecting and receiving benefits that many of these 'feral' rioters you talk about will never know.

  10. I won't be going in Celestial again, i am surprised that this sort of vigilanteism operates in this day and age
  11. I too have suffered flat tyres ( two with screws) in the area. But ludlow thompson and their loud, crass mobile adverts clogging up the parking bays on lordship lane drive me madder.
  12. I would welcome a quiet cafe during the day where i can linger with my newspaper and a latte. i am afraid i miss the old days of the Blue mountain when it was quiet and relatively child free
