  1. Avoid Impulse Security for the reasons explain in the following thread.

Who are the representatives? I would love to know why the schools of East Dulwich were not made aware of their special events "Calling all Yr 4 and Yr 5 children!" (to build a secondary school)? See attachment "Charter-Lego-Meeting.pdf". It does not look like SPACE Southwark was ever actually acting for the families of East Dulwich... seems our schools were not expected to take part as far back as when that event was being run.

It is indeed true, below is an example (taken from an official school website): "... the main issue now for Dog Kennel Hill parents is to ensure that the Nodal Point (the ?finish mark? when measuring distance from a child?s address to the school), remains as proposed in their application, in the far Northern corner of the school site, not the middle, not the south. This is the furthest point within the new school?s boundaries from the existing Charter School, so will ensure the least overlap with that school?s intake and a more diverse, more inclusive, fairer intake than other nodal points being proposed. It is also the best position for the nodal point to include as much of the current Dog Kennel Hill intake as possible. ..." This was published in early June on http://dkh.org.uk/charter-school-east-dulwich-consultation. For posterity, I have also attached a screenshot of the aforementioned page (un-edited version for memorially).
  4. A relation just caught some hooded individuals raiding bins on Henslowe Road what seemed to be likely identity theft related rather than scavenging left overs. She got pictures of them and contacted 999 straight away. A police car was subsequently seen chasing after them so the police is taking these incidents pretty seriously an so should you... https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/identity-theft http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/Pmw0JZLRc3T2NGT8nv78JJ/identity-fraud
  5. Speed bumps increase pollution/emissions as traffic travels in a lower gear using significantly more fuel... They also increase noise by both traversing over the bumps and by using more engine revs than normal. Not to mention, braking and acceleration... In France, in the last 20 years or so the policy has been to replace speed bumps by other alternatives... but sadly it is not the case here.
  6. Car went there last night now wondering if they actually used a vacuum cleaner at all (dust, crumbs and sand all over the inside). Look like I am going to have to do it myself or go back there to have them redo it again -- either way time wasted. Conclusion: - ?5 for the outside: okish. - $5 for the inside: really poor (you basically get a 'free' air freshener).

How do you prove that? Their dog may need to dump some more... so no excuses -- owners should be prepared to "bag&bin it" at anytime (i.e. they should maybe carry a few bags).
  8. Dog owner should be obliged by law to carry plastic bags when walking their dog, as simple as that. No bag = a fine! If this was compulsory they may actually do the 'Bag it and bin it'. Unrespectful dog owners are costing us a lot in taxes and are extremely bad for young children, so there should be no excuses there.
  9. Was not impressed by the food at all -- too expensive at average quality. Also there were plenty of broken glasses around the beer garden, so not good for the toddlers in our group. Shame this place has such a great potential.
  10. Been there a few times over the years, not always very impressed by the staff and/or the food. To be honest, I tend to avoid it... A good alternative is the Springers bar instead on East Dulwich Grove... far better food -- staff is lovely. Oh and by the way I am french.
  11. Hi almurray, What about getting a Bonzini's table football? These are the real thing... Here are some links: http://www.footietables.com/ http://www.bonzini.com/english/home_fran.php John Lewis has a few: http://www.johnlewis.com/Sport+and+Leisure+/Sports+Equipment/Sports+Equipment/Sport+Tables/736/230333929/Product.aspx?source=22567 I will be up for a babyfoot tournament -- any date yet?
  12. Just for info, the new recycling facility is yet another PFI project (i.e. privatisation) which will probably turn out to be good for business but not so good for the general public.
  13. Few weeks ago we have had our brown bin and our blue bag nicked. We are still waiting for the council to replace them. They were supposed to deliver them early last week but they haven't turned up yet. So until they get replaced there is a bit of a dilemma as it seems the recycling collection people won't take things if they are not in the dedicated container -- should we be stop recycling until we get provided the right containers?
