  1. As a very loose rule of thumb - your vehicle (van/lorry/car etc) needs to be open to be considered loading. So tailgate/boot open if it's a car. Even then you're still more likely than not to get a ticket because y'know.....Southwark.
  2. It's worth remembering that the 'consultation' on the Village junction at Turney Road/Court Lane came back with a resounding 'no' and yet they went ahead with it. And what a debacle that's turned out to be.
  3. Google maps shows the date the picture was taken. FWIW I used it to see if I could park outside the Peckham sorting office when trying to collect a parcel. Google said yes, the universe said no.
  4. Saw the Police turning up at the BT Exchange and it looked like our nomadic chums were back. Coincidence? You decide.

There > have been some improvements! The Grove Tavern, as was, was (dare I say it) a middle class food destination back in the day LONG before it fell from grace and became a Harvester. The Harvester failed due to the lack of quality & dire service, even by a Harvesters' standards (and dubious fires..) Louisa is, as always, talking horse eggs.
  6. If you're heading across from Turney Road and up Court Lane, now that you no longer have priority over Calton Avenue and have to queue, this causes a snake of traffic that then blocks the junction. Nothing that the drivers exiting Turney Road can do to avoid it or be aware of it. Considering 2/3 of the traffic continues up Court Lane, this is so poorly thought out. Just like the rest of junction. Thanks Southwark :-(

Tosh. Forcing traffic headlong into each other (Turney to Carlton and vice versa) is insane and dangerous.
  8. Is that the house on the corner? If so, it's not derelict, it just looks so.
  9. I drove through Carshalton today. They had far nicer lights than those on Lordship Lane.
  10. @ intexasatthe moment - how VERY dare you post on ????'s forum. Don't you know how important he and other certain forumites are!?? The EDF is here solely for their enjoyment.
  11. This is rich coming from the most Elitist poster on the entire forum! Anyway, we made the top 10 locations voting http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-38796357
  12. Leave a menorah in your front window on a Sunday morning?

  14. Let's be clear - there are the 'genuine' travelling communities which are, in this day and age, few and far between. And then there are 'Travellers' who are like our recent visitors, who exist and operate outside the laws of the land and in a way any decent member of society (static or genuine traveller alike) will find abhorrent. Sadly the former outway the latter but are afforded protected status by the likes of some on here who brandish nonsense like the racist card at the drop of a hat - despite the clue (race) being there. I'm joined to several forums for both professional and personal interests and there are a few common themes on threads that run across them all it seems; relationships is one, 'travellers' is another. And for every Sue there are dozens of respondents who have real life experience of our travelling chums and the misery, cost and filth they leave in their wake. Doesn't stop the Sues of this world buying their copies of the Guardian, mind you, but their contribution soon tails off under the overwhelming weight of actual evidence.

They don't conveniently fit your prejudices, > do they? I don't have any prejudices at all, thank you. However, going from both personal and anecdotal experience, sadly this experience we've had to suffer locally is par for the course. And I don't know how you get to your ridiculous music festival analogy. One is legal and pays to be cleaned up after, the other is illegal fly tipping. No correlation whatsover. You might as well say that all drug dealers are good just because they are a 'group' too and that saying drug dealers are bad is racist too. It's the professionally offended like you that allow these situations to go unchecked.
  16. Its the thieving messy 99% that give the 1% a bad name.

The wine, however, has verifiable working class origins..... Time for a Yellow Card, surely??
  18. The 8:10 to Blackfriars is the best train to aim for, I've found. It's usually half empty. Then when you get to Blackfriars, the 8:16 is hot on it's heels and you change onto that once it has emptied itself of the same people you were stood next to @ Peckham.
  19. FWIW - WH Smiths business model has been on its arse for years. They only survive because of their airside business. The FH branch has been a fetid hole for years. If the PO Master is retiring then why doesn't someone take on the position themselves rather than treating us to the usual diatribe. Taking pressure off the overstretched bus services? Never heard such tripe (even from the usual suspect). The buses are largely empty after 9:30am.
  20. The 8:10 @ Peckham Rye (so 1 stop up) is usually half empty. I get that into Blackfriars. Everything else is rammed.
  21. So Costa opening in ED is BAD - cue wailing and flailing of arms & regurgitation of "gentrification" diatribe. Costa opening in Peckham though is GOOD. For salt of the earth, "real' blue collar yarda yarda yarda. Can we ban posters from the Lounge as well as ED Issues/Gossip? Same old drivel.....
  22. If storing photos is a priority then I'd save some money for a cloud storage subscription (Dropbox, One Drive etc). As Seabag says, Chromebooks are good value for money.
  23. Probably more likely is that some hideously over priced properties are hanging around. There's a ground floor flat on my road up to c?650k just because there is a recording studio in the garden. The flat itself is in fair order but unlikely to go for that price, unless they find a buyer who specifically wants a recording studio in the garden! Compare that with a 3 bed house that sold recently after the owner passed away, that went for c?850k which was an absolute bargain. It needed updating internally but you could move straight in. I suspect that the properties that are sitting around are those where the Agent is royally extracting the yellow stuff when pricing it up as the market has been so buoyant for so long.

So, how many officers would you expect it to take to contain a suspect in a potential 'live' crime scene? With numerous escape routes including the park. I'm sure that like most keyboard warriors you could have wrestled them to the ground single handedly. I suspect that the reality would be that you'd run off and then complain about the lack of Police assistance. And for the record, the average burglar is a career criminal with no qualms about doing whatever it takes to evade capture. So going mob handed is the sensible thing to do if there is a chance of capturing them in the act. The last time a burglar was caught locally and banged up, the rate of burglaries dropped through the floor overnight as they tend to be so prolific. Police bashing seems to be a theme of yours, if memory serves. Buy the Guardian much..?
