  2. I always think of Hilda Ogden in Coronation Street when anybody mentions 'muriels' [sic]!

Plus you factor in the cost of getting down there, staying there etc - I object to paying London prices anywhere (including London!)

I've been mulling over the Bremain/Brexit issue for ages - here's my (admittedly) over-simplistic view on it and why I'm voting Brexit... We're like the unpopular kid who always gets invited to parties - he thinks he's popular and really wants to be liked, but deep down he knows the only reason he's invited is because he brings loads of really good booze to parties and never complains when the others get pissed on it and puke on his shoes....

AWT was the original presenter of Saturday Kitchen I think, latterly famous for pinching stuff from Tesco (other supermarkets are available).... I used to live next door to Sophie (daughter of Jane) Grigson when she did the daily recipe for the Evening Standard. I hold her responsible in no small part for my massive weight gain in the late 80s. She used to make the recipe for 4 and try it out on me hahahaha
  6. Seabag Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Oh dear LadyN > > Each to their own, who is your fav? > > Obvs not Rick or Roux JNR Michel Roux Snr (I could listen to him read the phone book, his voice is just heavenly) - he doesn't take himself too seriously, similarly Alain Roux (although he's rarely on the telly) but my favourite chef of all time has to be Pierre Koffman, he really knows his stuff and he cooked me a fab lunch on Monday (he's in the kitchen every day at Koffman's, Berkeley Hotel - he says "how can I have my name above the door if I'm not cooking there"); I confess a certain liking for James Martin (he cocks things up and laughs at himself) and Keith Floyd, a masterful chef (although he was quite chippy when I met him, granted he was a bit 'over refreshed') and who couldn't not love Graham Kerr, the Galloping Gourmet (he let me and my brother scamper all over his yacht when we were little and he was at the height of him fame)?

  9. We bought a Canary system, got one by the front door and one in the upstairs hallway - it is a live feed and you get alerts on your mobile when there is activity detected... If you see someone in the house you can sound the alarm on the Canary and also phone emergency numbers (you choose who to call) - it also monitors temperature, humidity etc... Got ours from Amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014KWBXY0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  10. I absolutely loathe Rick Stein - all he ever does is sneer at British people, food, customs etc - he's a snobbish hypocritical arse (in my opinion) as he loves Brits when they spend money in his over priced restaurants... 11. First time I ever had an MRI scan Enya was playing through the headphones for two fecking hours - now when I have an MRI I beg the technicians to play anything but - it was like Chinese water torture.....
  12. Famous people in Sainsburys - The Who??
  13. B side to The Goodies 'Funky Gibbon' was this delightful ditty - I used to prance about the house singing it...
  14. The Korgis - B side to Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime - played the B side incessantly....
  15. Every loaf I've ever had from Gail's almost dislocated my jaw trying to eat - dry and inedible (no, I wasn't trying to eat it whole before the smartarse remarks); the staff in DV branch are too busy looking cool and aloof to clear tables or sweep the floor... 16. A mate of mine does shikkui concrete finishes - I asked him and he recommended Chris Adams at beauconcrete uk, he also suggested micro cement and jesmonite; he said splashbacks can also be done....
  17. Yup, himself is a bit chubby.... MRJ is just rude, his words were "oh look everyone, here comes a man who looks as if he needs feeding up", when it got no response, he repeated, louder... On the plane he was laughing at the chubbiness of himself, laughing and generally taking the p*ss... He was a bit shell-shocked when we pitched up for lunch for our anniversary at 'the Gav' a few weeks later.... 19. Michel Roux Jr is one of the rudest people I've ever met - he has twice, publicly and very vocally, made insulting comments about my husband (who is, admittedly, quite well covered), the first time was at a food festival, the second on a flight when he was chatting to his wife in French, he went a bit pale when I spoke to the cabin crew in French as well..... 21. When I was a child growing up in Worthing, our BhS had a deli counter right in the middle of the clothing section - I remember clearly my mother buying a grey skirt for my school uniform, a tub of coleslaw and a lump of cheddar....
