  1. Ok, so thanks to people who have explained in detail about this new centre. HOWEVER, as a keep fit fanatic, I do not want to pay such a high membership fee just to ensure that there are only 3 or 8 people in my class! At the East Dulwich Leisure Centre you can get monthly membership between ?30-45 and this includes a full health MOT inc. blood pressure, weight, advice on how to achieve your goals. You can also use any of the gyms linked eg peckham Pulse, in the area. There's also the pool, pilates, various forms of yoga, fantastic exercise classes (the majority of instructors - esp. Theo and Cherron - are superb). In short, for ?30 a month I get unlimited use of: The Lifestyle gym Exercise, mind and body classes Swimming pools Spa and sauna facilities Discounts on a variety of leisure based activities at Fusion leisure centres Online bookings for exercise, mind and body classes Free one to one personal consultation Free personal fitness programme Free ongoing fitness assessments Discounts on a variety of leisure based activities I cannot fathom why one would pay such a massive amount more just for 'plush' surroundings. I am sorry but I am FED UP of businesses thinking they can charge an arm and a leg for services in SE22. Max (from the new gym) I wish you luck, but your prices are very, very high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. "If there is a housing down-turn we might be grateful if any agent can sell a house at all. Even at 1.5% commission." Are you an estate agent??? How is mine an 'historical view'? I have been viewing houses in the area and that is all the agents do. Some do not even turn up and leave the vendor to show people around. That is why I would sell privately if I had to pay commission. It has always worked in the past.
  3. It is round the corner from the Butchers - or one of those roads near there.
  4. ...Oh, and another thing, I too laughed at Foxton's recent advertisement in the Evening Standard's Homes and property section - since when has Dulwich Village been SE15?????
  5. I have got Foxton's coming round to value my house tomorrow. Apparently, the 0% commission still stands although the firm claimed 'they had almost reached their quota'. In short, I don't particularly like dealing with estate agents full stop, but if an agent is prepared to market my property and sell it for no fee, just because it is trying to establish itself in the area then i will go for that. I had two other agents come round and they want the standard 1.5%, which to me is a huge amount of money for selling a house when all they do is walk round a place showing people. It's not rocket science, and isn't worth thousands of pounds. I will certainly check the small print on the Foxton's contract, and if there are any tie-ins I won't sign. I might try selling via this forum or the online website www.propertybroker.com which I found very successful last time I sold. The whole thing only cost ?138. Earlier on here Jeremy Wrote: > "I am surprised that somebody who claims > to care about the area would even be entertaining > the idea of doing business with Foxtons!" I understand what Jeremy meant, as Foxton's has such a corporate, flashy image and there are some people round here who revel in the area's 'quirky' (?) organicy (sic) image, but hey, have you seen the amount of estate agents in lorship lane already??? Hardly quirky and organicy methinks. I'll let you know how I get on with Foxtons!
  6. You are quite right to mention the extortionate cost of this new gym! I had a fit when I saw how much they intended to charge. I shall stick to the East Dulwich Leisure Centre on Goose Green. Ok, so it's not perfect, but the exercise classes are fab and the monthly membership I pay is reasonable. ?79 per month for full membership at this new gym is outrageous and more than I paid for a gym in Kensington!!!! Will anyone be daft enough to pay that amount of money? Oh and there isn't even a creche to cater for the many parents who may wish to work out during the day!
