  1. Bob, I don't 'do' mini-whisks!! Anyway, I am sure the shop does well, or it wouldn't still be there. So obviously SOMEONE is buying stuff in there. I guess it's the 'anti chain shop brigade.
  2. Sounds dreadful downsouth, though rather typical!
  3. Hm, well I guess that's OK then Bob. I have never bought anything from that shop, and nor will I!
  4. Think I'll stick to second hand stuff for said toddler snorky, although thanks for the herne Hill recommendation. Bob, what did you buy in Moo? And did it cost an arm and a leg?
  5. In a way it is reassuring to find that it seems to be a lot of people who have received this snooty treatment at The Green. I thought it might have been just me and my friends - obviously not!
  6. I really liked the toddler t-shirts I saw hanging in Moo's window - with prints of Blondie and The Clash on 'em. However, I almost collapsed on hearing that they cost ?18, and I made a swift exit from the shop!
  7. No, it's such a pointless shop, IMO snorky. And I have been in there, but as is always the case with shops like this (and ED in Northcross Rd is another dire example of a shop selling pointless plastic tat) I just browse due to boredom and NEVER buy. Give me a vintage or second hand shop any day. I am concerned that this new shop 'Sugar' is going to be yet another trinket shop; still, beats another estate agent I suppose. I have a vested interest now I am not moving from ED. Nobody seems prepared to pay the exorbitant cost that my house is going for - and I can't blame 'em.
  8. I agree with the comments made about the supercilious, snotty behaviour from certain waiters at this establishment. It beggars belief! I honestly thought this place would have got its act together; in my opinion, it's such a shame as it could potentially be a really nice place if the service, and attitudes of certain members of staff, weren't so BAD.
  9. Snorky???? Where is Moo? It rings a bell. I doubt I have ever been in there - or maybe I have! is it that shop next to Healthmatters which sells toddler T-shirts for ?18 a time?
  10. Oh no...you're kidding me that it is yet another damn trinket/tat shop, right???????????
  11. Has anyone else found the man in the Cheese shop really surly and rude. He can't even muster a smile - and at those high prices I'd be positively beaming. And while we're on the topic, the young guy with whacky hair in the Health Shop is also downright rude whenever I go in. I wish the shops had some competition as maybe this would force them to improve their service!
  12. Have had 2 horrible experiences here and have not gone back - a shame as the food is OK and so is the ambience. The service though, as has been said is dire. I went there first for a celebratory event which cost me a lot of money! The manager went ballistic when, quite by chance, a member of my party ordered champagne. He was surprising us - as is often the case when it comes to champagne! The manager said we hadn't ordered it in advance (I am amazed that he could be so uppity when we were spending good money - even if it had been sprung on him) and thus they didn't have enough champagne flutes. He proceeded to dole out flutes 3 and 4 at a time, so none of us were able to toast together. Then (after I had left) some of my party decided to stay behind, and were lambasted by a waiter who told them in no uncertain terms that I hadn't paid the bill. I had!!! I was so angry I complained to the overall manager of both the Green and Le Chandon. He gave me a free meal as compensation, but actually I felt uncomfortable going back so left it a while and then went for Sunday lunch. This was a disaster. Again the manager told us that, even though we had booked, as we were only a party of two, his bigger groups took priority - could we therefore wait 45 minutes for our lunch????? Er, no!!!!! After kicking up a fuss, the manager finally acquiesced and came up with the lunch within 15 minutes BUT ONLY BECAUSE WE MADE A FUSS. I daresay he Spat in our meals and we haven't been back since.
  13. I have it on good authority that the new 'Tea Shop', Lordship Lane (the one Janice Turner described as 'prissy' with waitresses with 'bad attitudes') does not welcome children much. The owner is alleged to have said (again on good authority) that he spent a lot of money on furnishings and doesn't want the place trashed by young, out of control children. He has a point I suppose.
  14. Thank you Billie, for your most eloquent posting on the plus points of moving to Sydenham. I agree with you that the South Circular is awful in Forest Hill. I also agree with James that Nunhead is not very nice. People who live there seem keen to defend it. We're all different I suppose.
  15. Is there any chance that 'Mrs Hamilton' will return to explain her actions? Is s/he allowed to do that? It would be interesting to hear from another agent, as to exactly how much of a threat the Foxton's 0% offer is to other agents. It expires 21st December anyway, and since they are taking so long to process 'all' the properties on their books, most of those properties will likely be advertised post-Xmas, and thus have the 2.5% commission slapped upon 'em.
  16. It's quite sad really, as said estate agent has a lot to lose at the existence of a big chain like Foxtons. I suspected that a few of the tiny agencies would be panicking, but anyway there are too many in L.ship Lane as it is.
  17. why don't you get it started Ganapati. I just happened to mention that in my particular council block there were very few British people of whatever colour. I am not sure if that is typical of council blocks in general, but it certainly was of mine in Loughborough Junction. Hardly anyone could speak English. Does that matter?
  18. Sean, the said posting was not, in my opinion well balanced in suggesting that I 'hate' everyone on this forum. I have never suggested that, and frankly it would be an idiot who 'hated' an internet forum. I am extremely annoyed that the said poster had the gall to make such a sweeping generalisation on a personal level, which note I have not so far done. But it is very gallant of you to come to the said poster's defence, granted.:))
  19. Ganapti, granted that is a good argument about boosting numbers of people using IVF. However, it is not that clearcut. As I have already said, IVF boosts fertility only a tiny bit 6% and wreaks potentially dreadful health risks on IVF kids. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1807351.stm http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23405208-details/IVF+children+%2527are+twice+as+likely%2527+to+suffer+poor+health/article.do I do not consider my opinion to be 'offensive'. I consider it 'offensive' that people assume that having children is a right that should be paid for on the cash-strapped NHS. I expected my opinion to be lambasted in an area with a high IVF up take. The highly potent drug regime of putting the woman's body into an early menopause then hyperstimulating her ovaries could cause goodness only knows what potential harmful effects. So I am not convinced IVF is the answer to increasing the population. In short, childlessness is NOT an illness and IVF is incredibly poor value for money. It costs a fortune and the success rate is incredibly low. Having children is both a responsibility and a privilege, it is not in any way shape or form a right.
  20. Ganapati, I had frankly had enough of the nasty postings by a minority, and I can give as good as I get. I think you can mention the word 'contempt' to some others on here too. Still, you have always been very fair on here so I have no argument with you at all.
  21. 'Let us end this once and for all'. How sanctimonious talfourd.'Bellenden belle' (?) how dare you say "I think you see everyone on this forum as a mass gathering of some concept you hate". What a load of tosh. You do sound like a nasty piece of work. And by the way, it looks like the Forest Hill move may not be going ahead so I will remain for now off Northcross Rd.! And the 'community' of which you speak does not exist. At least in reality. Still, by your username I am assuming you live in the arguably 'regenerated' Bellenden Rd area? How lucky you are if you do... And thank you Keef by the way.
  22. So what if I am against it (IVF)? It is not an illness to be infertile. So anaolgies with kidney transplants etc. are equally as invalid. The IVF procedure involves giving huge amounts of artificial hormones and has a great potential for harming unborn babies. Just check out the medical books (and I should know) and you will see the research is overwhelming. Is it fair to bring a child into the world who has a higher incidence of illness because they were conceived in this way? No, it is selfish. It must be heartbreaking to find you can't have children, but it is also hard to deal with broodiness when you have kids. So many messed-up kids stay in troubled families until they are unadoptable; infant adoption would be so much better for them, and for childless couples.
  23. Beg for tolerance? Sanctimonious? What the f@ck are you on about? And again, your analogies are pathetic. I was asked my opinion, didn't give it voluntarily, and if you didn't like it? Do I care? In short, No.
  24. Asset, there are too many unwanted kids as it is. Just adopt. Your analogies are frankly pathetic. They speak more about your lack of argument. My views are based on the fact that we also live in an overpopulated world. I accept your apology, however. How are the quadruplets doing?
  25. I delighted in living in my Loughborough Junction council flat, but to be honest barely anyone spoke English in the entire block. And very few were indigenous people who were housed there - apart from me. Perhaps charity begins at home?
