  1. it is just another friggin' pointless shop in Lordship Lane, esp if it really does sell such horrid shoes. There already are two shoe shops the area selling half reasonable shoes, do we really need another, particularly if it sells such vile artefacts - as has been alleged by Bob et al.
  2. Moobies (male boobs) are a definite turn off 'tis true. Being a rather flat chested female though, I can confirm that drinking oodles of soya milk, scoffing tons of soya yoghurt and devouring soya spreads on my organic, yeast free spelt bread, has not remotely increased my bust size. :(
  3. I havenever tasted said Sainsbury's soya milk so cannot comment on whether it would constitute a 'decent brand'. However, I did buy Sommerfield's soya milk recently - it was on offer at about 60p a carton. It was actually OK in my coffee and cereal, although rather 'thinner' than the Alpro brand I usually buy. I don't know why some people turn up their noses at the prospect of drinking soya milk. Personally I find it rather odd that people drink cow milk which is surely designed to nurture calves?
  4. The shoes that have been posted so far, esp Bob's little beauties, are truly vile, but made me laugh big time!!
  5. "Complaining about the cheapo brand of soya milk is about the most East Dulwich statement I've heard in ages". Oh good Mattham, I do aim to please.
  6. The best shops in Bellenden Rd are unequivocally LIDL and Poundstretcher.
  7. ...and I had to pay an extra 30p for having soya milk which is bloody outrageous!
  8. Please will this place NOT charge extra for soya milk - and use a decent brand too.
  9. Went again yesterday after the debacle with my non-sandwich. The soya cappuccino was so foul I gave it back and got a tea instead. They should at least use a decent brand of soya milk like Alpro. I had a peek at the cheapo brand they use which curdles in hot drinks. The people serving and taking payment behind the counter are really quite frazzled and unfriendly in my opinion.
  10. I have no doubt the mums of the area will soon be tottering around in these shoes - to match their buggies. Not my style personally (the shoes that is).
  11. I am in agreement with the latter posting. The exercise classes at Fusion, East Dulwich are, in the main, fabulous. So what if they sometimes get packed. Instructors like Theo, Chris and Cheron really give value for money. It's great if you can afford ?80 a month on gym fees (I can't). Admittedly Fusion can sometimes be rather disorganised, and the equipment isn't as 'snazzy' as it could be, but all I care about is getting a good workout. And eater81, even if I were a yoga/pilates fan (I'm not) I wouldn't pay ?80 amonth to do it.
  12. Had to wait over 30 mins for a sarnie. It didn't come as I was 'fifth' after enquiring where it was. In the end had to leave as didn't have the time to hang around - and got a refund. Think the owners may have underestimated how popular this cafe would be since there's no competition near by. Nice cafe apart from slow service.....rather over run by mums and youngsters since the 1 0 clock club closed down though...
  13. Incidentally, if parents felt less paranoid about taking youngsters out to social places e.g. pubs etc (for fear of incurring the wrath of those who find children 'annoying'), we might find that children would learn to be better behaved in general. As I have already said, I find the majority of young children in the area really well behaved and nice. Why shouldn't they be out and about with their parents (as long as it's not during a power pram sess!) (Only stated that for you Moos! :)
  14. "I suppose that the difference is that most gay men don't scream the place down while you're trying to have a quiet drink. Unless "Wow" by Kylie comes on." LOL James!!!
  15. ????, what excellent points you make!!!!
  16. Moos, I am 'letting' them power pram! How am I interfering with their ability to do said activity in the local parks? If they want to do such a thing with their bug-a-boos, let 'em. It doesn't mean I have to agree it is a worthwhile exercise, and it does look daft. It is also expensive at ?5 a time.
  17. 'poncing about in the park'? I take it you are referring to 'power pramming' Peckhamgatecrasher?! Yes it does look very poncey. It doesn't even WORK. The exercises are so slow and daft.
  18. LOL Pickles. I don't get out much of an evening either currently!! :( Domitianus and Matt, there is validity in some of your points. However, "many of these Yummy Mummies expect absolute 100% tolerance of their children's right to run riot, scream, shout, bang cutlery etc ANYWHERE THEY PLEASE with no consideration for others." In truth, I haven't seen much of the latter, and I am REALLY critical!! Most of the local kids are pretty well behaved in my humble opinion.
  19. Bob, I DID detect the sarcasm in the poor, downtrodden mother comment!!
  20. You're lucky you can get out in the evening Pickle!!
  21. Bagpuss, where does 'matt' say he hates children and gays?
  22. Incidentally, how would one define a 'yummy mummy'? Obviously it is a stereotype but isn't that just taking a few simple traits and applying it to a whole group...? Not exactly accurate I'd have thought.
  23. Bob "No-one minds seeing Mums with prams when they're tired, haggard, poor and downtrodden." I believe there are plenty of said mums in Peckham, and despite their exhaustion most tend to be reasonably affable. Perhaps it is because they would rather spend a fiver on a packet of fags than power pramming in Dulwich Park. Who knows?
  24. It is a bit annoying to say the least Mattindulwich....have you seen them 'power pramming' in the local parks? Talk about NOT building up a sweat or burning calories. They (said yummy mummies) would be better off doing some real exercise at either the East Dulwich leaisure centre (try Theo he is fab) or some of the classes at Peckham Pulse. My young niece was cleaning the houses, til recently, for a few local yummy mummies and reported that most spent their time ordering online at John Lewis or nipping to Jojo Maman Bebe (:(() with their humungous red/orange buggies. Well, if it makes 'em happy who are we to knock 'em? Tis true it is a rather dull existence (and rather unfair if it is one's husband's money one is spending frivolously), but that is purely my opinion. Plus I don't have the money to shop anywhere apart from the Peckam Lidl. Incidentally, " I am not against children far from it but this Yummy Mummy culture has changed Dulwich". Changed it in what way? Was it ever the 'bohemian utopia' that some think it was? I doubt it. Shame though. I would like Mattindulwich to elaborate.
  25. very good idea to get the 63 to carry on up that steep hill past the Francesca Cabrini primary school and to Honor Oak station. However, I recall speaking to a bus driver about the fact it's a damn nuisance there are no buses going straight up and over the said hill. he said it was because icy conditions can make driving up the steep hill very hard, if not impossible. He said that was why no big buses went up and over the hill.
