Hiya, I can somewhat empathise - my son is a bit younger and goes through phases of really struggling with his emotions - he's too young to really "manage" them, but needs some control over his anger. Your thread has reminded me of various others on similar subjects, this link was posted in one and I find the whole lovebombing idea works for us (for a while anyway :) ) http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/bloggers/1574459-Love-Bombing-the-solution-to-childrens-emotional-and-behavioural-issues good luck!

FYI Cherry Tree not child friendly (after 7.30pm)

I completely agree with a no kids after a certain time when it comes to young children, they should be in bed. I wonder though what the policy is for eating in a pub with a teenager? Obviously, at 15/16 yrs they do not go to bed at 8.00... -
Single mum with 10 month old in need of a home asap
mima08 replied to Carolina's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, sorry to hear about your situation and sorry I cannot help with a place but I know of some other forums that might be good to post on, too. Not sure I should put the names here but pm me if if it would be helpful to post more widely. -
HI - my son is at Reception at Belham and so far we love it. He is enjoying it, seems to be doing really well and there is a nice atmosphere among the parents. There were some very minor teething matters, but nothing serious in any way and it's all settling in nicely. Another thing I like is the opportunity for parents to get involved and shape the schools (am doing this) - pm me if you'd like to know more.

Second one for Daniel Harvey on Christal Palace Rd. I actually do have a slightly buldging disc (as found via MRI) - his manipulations do work amazingly, normally within 2-3 treatments.

Hiya, Have you checked our the great edtots.co.uk website? Lots of great ideas. Best of luck, Mx

Can anyone recommend an Osteopath for SPD in pregnancy
mima08 replied to NannyAdelle's topic in The Family Room Discussion

Great post - have shared in Social media, too - I think it's such an important topic!

We went for a Nest which came as part of a fixed price package. The main reason I wanted one was because my working hours and locations are irregular and I found myself turning the heating on, but then forgetting to turn it off when going out and heating an empty house. Only had it since April, so this winter will be the test if it works, but it seems to be better at getting the "right" temperature than our old one which would never kick in unless set to >25 degrees...

The Gowlett said they'll show all games - every single one, they promised :)

Thanks all for the feedback, also about preparing for questions - I really want to stop being one of the people who think they're doing enough with charity donations alone....

Dulwich pool does baby swimming, not particularly warm but ok. Get him a wetsuit - that made a lot of difference to my skinny son at that age!

thank you cbia, that's reassuring. It's what I had thought, but got thrown by some of the comments. Will check mumsnet, too. I totally agree with the point that children should see how important it is to stand up for your beliefs - as a child of the 70s, I was taken on lots of marches (in a different country) and some good came out of them.... thank you for responding!

Hi Been, I've been in touch with the German site, it's at www.refugees-welcome.net. A fair few people are trying to set up something similar in the UK, there is a facebook group under the same name to do so (sorry, on tablet, linking seems to be beyond me). I should point out, even though the press calls it "airbnb for refugees", the organisation itself says they're about something quite different. The aim of the organisation (as far as I can tell) is to practice a culture of welcoming, matching refugees with flat/accomodation share opportunities and helping with the practicalities as well as providing support. It seems to be more about long-term-ish relationships than very short, airbnb-style visits. Not sure what shape the UK version will be like, but great idea and sentiment.

Hi, I'm planning to go to the March, taking my 4year old (no other childcare), going with another family. Some people we mentioned this to thought it wasn't a good idea to take children because right wing groups could cause trouble ... It hadn't crossed my mind, but I have never been to a march, so a little uncertain. Views?

yes, thank you LadyDeliah for explaining some of the dynamics - maybe a few people will listen more. Though some of the comments online make me despair... There is an interesting idea used in Germany and Austria to help establish a humane culture of welcoming refugees: http://www.refugees-welcome.net/

Hi - I would be willing to help. There is a local fundraiser by DHFC, maybe a good idea to offer help there, too? Done. Both. There is also a good site by the independent on 5 practical things you can do to help.. Sorry, don't seem to be able to post the link but if you google " independent 5 practical things," it comes up at the top. Mx

There are a few great initiatives on here but i thought this list in the independent might be good for people who want to help more / cannot make the dates: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/5-practical-ways-you-can-help-refugees-trying-to-find-safety-in-europe-10482902.html

Do also look at single journes. We found booking single journeys there and back (London - Edinburgh) was ?200 cheaper than a the cheapest return. Same train, same travelling conditions. Go figure - lots of googling helped.

Hiya, yes, I had it done about 6 years ago and had fantastic results. Wish I'd done it years ago. The change for me was amazing, the op very quick and I had no problems with infections or anthing. I took very good care of my eyes afterwards, time off work for two days to avoid straining my eye using a pc, wearing sunglasses in Feb, but it was worth it. I went with one of the big national chains (can remember which one, tbh) as I thought I wanted someone who does a LOT of these ops all the time. Best of luck!

Tried Fabulous Ice fire last week and got hooked. Delicious flavours, and love their own recipie. Of course it's personal tastes but I prefer it to Oddono. It would be good to have different portion sizes (though 3 flavours for ?2.50 seems good value given the portion sizes) - and yes, I have suggested it to them, too.
