  1. Do they have Nintendo DS's ? If so, DS or other computer games. Or books if they like to read (lemony snicket, or those Charlie Higson books about a young James bond), or anything 'gadgety' ?
  2. Bah humbug Sean! Cheer up. ;-)
  3. Going on the vtech storio suggestion - the vtech digital camera or the vtech video recorder?
  4. I did it every year before moving to the UK - and still do it here. You'll be fine. At least you'll have an easier time finding parking next year. ;-)
  5. Dulwich Ballet School also have classes from 2 1/2 years - my youngest started at this age.
  6. Congratulations! Yipeeee!
  7. Good luck Fuschia!! Hope you're getting some rest while you can. It's too cold outside, I wouldn't want to come out either. -C x
  8. We've used Abbeville Nannies and found them very good. It was for a temp nanny a few years ago when my second was born. The nanny was absolutely wonderful and I wanted to hire her full time, but she lived in Balham and transport links for her were a nightmare to ED (so we never had to pay the fees, etc for hiring one). The agency was very professional and sent 3-4 candidates for us to interview and all the girls seemed capable. HTHs and good luck.
  9. Maybe something from All Fired Up? I saw a load of little toddlers painting mugs for their granddad a few weeks back. Or if your toddler can draw something and you have it nicely framed?
  10. KK - we came through Kennington from St James's at 2.30ish and it was perfectly fine although it hadn't started snowing yet just a bit heavier with traffic if anything. The roads around Kennington, Oval are usually well gritted from memory. HTH
  11. I concur with Dorothy. And I why would I need to ask her about how to juggle life with children when I can get all the answers I need here in the Family Room! ;-)
  12. I'd agree with Keef and say that 6 months is a bit young. The youngest we took ours to Disneyland was 12-14ish months on the Dumbo ride, train that goes around the entire park, It's a Small World and that was pretty much it. Many of the rides will have a height minimum and a young baby may not be allowed. You might want to check the Disney website or ring. Hope that helps.
  13. Dear James, I've sent two emails to you regarding this matter and neither were responded to (although they were indeed both read by you or someone in your camp). I asked that if you were not the right person to kindly give me a contact for someone who was. We used to have street sweepers once a week on our road, but I haven't seen anyone in over a month and the leaves were piling up and becoming slippery and mouldy. I rang the council three times and finally someone came this week, but no thanks to you since you couldnt even be bothered to answer a simple email. Thanks.
  14. Can you try using 'grownup' shampoo and repeating the washing/rinsing process until it feels like it's gone? Just be careful (as you know) not to get this mixture into their eyes as the vapours can be strong. I did this after finding my youngest had rubbed an entire large tub of sudocrem into her hair, face, sheets, walls and I used my own shampoo which I believe is much stronger/soapier than her organic, sodium laurl sulfate-free baby shampoo! Good luck!
  15. As above, I recommend ringing Medela on 0161 776 0400. They can have a breastpump delivered to you the next day. Hope it all works out.
  16. Just read this and your other thread from start to finish Fuschia, really hope all is well with your little one and all goes well with No. 4! Take good care and keep us posted on things. -C x
  17. Keef - just looked at my bottle of Piriton and dose for 1-2 year olds is 2.5ml spoon twice daily. Hope that helps.
  18. Completely agree, Si Mangia is very good for children, good value and really yummy food. Lovely staff too.
  19. You sound surprised, did you not realise this before moving here? I like the fact that we don't have a tube, but good bus/train links and services.
  20. Another happy Ocado fan, been using them for ages with no problems. Fuschia, did Tescos finally show up for you??
  21. We too had loads of little ones coming around - didn't have any eggs or oj to deal with today fortunately and sorry to those who did. Thanks to everyone who gave our brood of 4 witches and two dads sweeties.
  22. Sally, I've been married twice in my life. First was a massive wedding with all the trimmings which I didn't want but was pleasing both sides of the family - it cost an arm and a leg but I didn't have to pay for it so that wasn't the real issue. On that wedding day I knew it was a big mistake and it took me the next two miserable years to divorce him, he being a lawyer who made it difficult for me. I was resentful about the big wedding I didn't want and for my own inability to call it off before it was too late. Got married for the second time 5 years ago to someone I had been with for ages at the Peckham Registry office (my friends and family from LA still don't know what/where that is) with two friends and our first daughter as witness. Had lunch at the Palmerston and it rained all day (apparently good luck to my Irish husband). We rang everyone afterwards to tell them about it. It was and will always be one of the happiest days of my life. And it is exactly what I wanted. Good luck with your decision and with the impending arrival. -C x
  23. You're overanalysing! ;-) Most kids that we see come with their parents even if standing back on the pavement and the few older ones as molly mentions do come on their own, but we don't get too many of them, just the wee ones who seemed well and truly shocked to be given candy/sweets from strangers.
