  1. In a soundproof glass box in a medieval church in the middle of a wedding in Ireland wearing an 'impossible to breastfeed in' dress with stiff satin jacket and silly hat. This being 15 minutes after dear daughter 2 had a screaming fit after having one of those massive up to their ears poos and the priest had to come over and ask me if everything was okay.... however, no one even batted an eyelash.
  2. Luckily my children's rooms are north facing so stay cool during the day. My youngest is sleeping in a summer gym jam set (tank top/shorts) and a 1/2 tog grow bag. If it gets really warm I usually place an oscillating fan in the rooms and open the curtains so the air can come in.
  3. I second Piriton and also Beconase (sp?) nasal spray. I used both when pregnant as well. Hope this helps. My hayfever has been absolutely dreadful this time.
  4. ontheedge - because OP was asking specifically for SE22 and SE23. Reread the thread for clarification before getting knickers in a bundle. ;-)
  5. Sorry you had a bad experience Steve, but your post did make me giggle.
  6. I think H&M do sell maternity clothes as does Top Shop which I bought a few 'trendy' things from. Also bought stuff from GAP maternity which I really liked as they were simple pieces like khaki trousers and jeans which come in a variety of waistband sizes and styles. I didn't buy too many maternity tops as I was able to wear normal shirts, blouses or tank tops most of the time. For special events I would buy one dress/outfit from Formes but they are uber expensive for an outfit you would literally wear once! Have fun shopping!!
  7. Really hope everything goes well today Fuschia. -C x
  8. Hi sglanzer, Just some ideas off the top of my head: -Dulwich Park (cafe, playground, whippersnappers playgroup, etc) -Peckham Rye Park (one o'clock club) -Horniman Museum (loads to do for kids of that age group) -The Sandpit opposite the Horniman -Marsden Road Wild Life Centre (SE15, but close and lovely) -Dulwich Library -Goose Green community centre/St. John's church has a play group -All Fired Up (as a treat I take my two to paint ceramics here) I'm sure there's a million other things. If you get a copy of the SE22 magazine there is a whole listing of playgroups and classes. Hope that helps.
  9. I say "have a lovely day AND BE GOOD!" The last point I emphasise as my eldest is a bit of a class clown.
  10. Dulwich Baths
  11. You should be able to check it in plane-side, ie, after walking down the gangway before boarding. Baggage/cabin crew take it and will place it in the baggage hold and return it to you there when you land. It would be easier for toting baby around the airport. Otherwise, if it isn't a full flight or you have a bigger plane, ask if they would be able to store it onboard in a closet. Hope that helps.
  12. Is your work flexible to allow you to change your schedule to work from home 2/3 days a week? That might be an option and then you would only have to pay for wrap around care for the rest of the time. I don't mean to add to your dilemma but I think a full day of wrap around care every day of the week can be quite exhausting for a child at reception age. Or another option is finding a child minder who is willing to collect your daughter and bring her back to her own home. Friends of ours have one who collects their child from school and gives her tea and delivers her back home by 6pm. Surely there would be other parents in this situation so it would be a matter of finding out. The school should be able to give you a list of other parents' email addresses in your daughter's class. Very best of luck.
  13. OMG! A big congratulations to you Fuschia! So exciting to hear that there are so many babies on the way. When is your due date? Hope this is a nice easy peasy pregnancy now that you're such a pro! ;-) -C x
  14. I dropped the 10pm feed when both mine started weaning and eating solids (purees) around 6-7 months. At this point they were no longer interested in being woken up at 10pm. The idea is to have baby take all of his calories during the day so that he doesn't wake during the night hungry. Do you have to wake him up for his 10pm feed or does he naturally start stirring in his sleep? If you have to wake him perhaps try not waking him on a Friday or Saturday evening and see if he can make it through the night. If he wakes at 5am you know then that he still needs his dream feed. Hope this helps.
  15. My two go to Dulwich Ballet School run by Sally Ann Hodge. It is located in St Faith's on Red Post Hill by WD station. My youngest started classes when she was 2 1/2 years old.
  16. Hi Newcomer, I JUST happen to read the forum as I'm out in the Far East now, but felt compelled to reply to your post. I would fly BA business class as the beds are completely flat (even the old style business class on 747s as well as the newly configured 777s). More importantly, you can see the seat next to you with the option of having a screen pulled up for privacy. You can even see through the screen as it's slightly opaque. Just ask about where the bassinet would be because I can't remember if it's in the bulkhead where you would be seated. BA do have the slightly weird seat configuration where seats are facing forwards and backwards and in the middle row it means our two face backwards but next to each other and husband and I are on the aisles facing forwards which worked out fine. We've also flown Cathay business and whilst the service is absolutely brilliant (better than BA I dare say) the newer 777 configuration in business is such that you absolutely cannot see the seat next to you. And while this is great if you are a single traveller, it's a bit tricky with children because you cannot see them at all. The seats don't face each other and the sides when the bed is flat are very high. I know it's all in the name of privacy, but my husband equated them to being in coffins (sorry for gloomy description). I never flew Virgin upper class with children but remember their beds reclined under the seat in front and it was a bit odd (but loved the bar in that cabin!). The service in any business would be much better than economy and I would recommend it as it would be helpful with a new baby. And don't worry about other people on business, you have as much right to be there as they do! (First class may be a different story ;-)). Best of luck to you, take up the business class offer! -C Edited for the sake of clarity!
  17. Hi Jenny, I had two c-sections and didn't have to use any blood thinners. After my second I had these inflatable boot things on my legs that would inflate and deflate so as to massage my legs as the hospital were trying them out on their patients. My consultant told me they were a load of crap and that the best thing to do to avoid blood clots was to be mobile as soon as possible. My recovery second time around was much faster for some reason as I didn't feel so precious in the hospital and had a 2 1/2 year old Tasmanian devil to deal with. I also breastfed both times without problems. Very best of luck to you and your delivery.
  18. I would think that your neighbour wouldn't want it any higher than the window for fear of break-ins. Anything bigger would simply be gross.
  19. SteveT! What a terrible attitude!? Remember, happiness is comparable to a J-curve and the older we get, the happier we are (in theory), but I do believe it. Time for a nice holiday at the Hotel Raphael ;-)
  20. We used the photographer Robert Doherty on Lordship Lane located next to Mrs Robinsons (furniture).
  21. Agree with everyone above, I used a wire mesh colander on top of a pot of water and covered with a lid to steam things, a Braun hand held blender, and a load of little tupperware pots with lids that I purchased for 30p from Farmer's on LL. Very easy. Good luck!
  22. The dreaded noro virus going around. A lot of people, children and parents, have had it. Just make sure he doesn't dehydrate and keep offering small amounts of food and liquid (even things like ice lollies might work, although he may not like the cold at that young). Hope he recovers soon.
  23. I asked Sally last week and she said that classes start again the week of 19 April.
  24. Yes, I too cried the entire time watching this episode. I wanted to see a happier ending for poor William and glad Izzie made it home finally.
