it's not set up yet but there will still be a ?1.50 booking fee for online bookings (unless you are a member) and ?1.50 over the phone plus whatever you are charged calling an 0871 box office number. -

I love what i've seen so far of our new cinema but for one bugbear - i really really wish it wasn't an 0871 number. I find those so unpleasant and unfriendly. i think i have already spent whatever i might have saved by joining as a member just by sitting on their phone waiting for them to answer (?12!) and it's going to be the same when it comes to booking films granted that shouldn't involve as many attempts at trying to get through - or as long a wait - but it will involve a booking fee on top. Both charges seems excessive? -

well, tricky. I always left there feeling like i had been scolded - i had bought the wrong shoes, they had the wrong stitching or something, or didn't look after them, or what i wanted was unreasonable (basic soling and heeling) because i had, of course, bought the wrong shoes. i just consistently found him too odd and surly (and expensive) and so stopped going there. (And started going up the lane and getting heels and soles stuck on for less than a tenner and no grief which is kind of what you expect. it is of interest to me now that i was not alone in this! -

East Dulwich Leisure Centre - problems
OliviaDee replied to treehugger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi James I have been posting to you about the AC problem at Fusion for quite a while and been trying to get an answer out of Fusion for years. It is very frustrating. How about every class i cannot attend or maximise because it is too hot or too cold - that i get reimbursed out of my membership fees? a) why should i pay for it? b) if everyone is (as they should be) entitled to this, then you can be sure the date to fix the problem will be a lot sooner. At the moment it wouldn't surprise me to learn we'll have a very long wait indeed since the powers that be already think 3.5 years was an acceptable time to allow this problem to run for. i agree with mynameishere - the place needs windows which open. (A cheap, quick and obvious solution). Even on the rare occasion that the AC does work - it is badly designed for its studio purpose and blasts about 6 streams of ice cold air to the floor from the ceiling rendering a lot of the floor space totally unusable. Finally James - please could you make this information a post of its own so people can access it? As you know i have been trying to find this out for ages and only stumbled on it by accindent in a thread about something else. thanks Olivia -

Thanks James - still no improvement. The temperature this morning was 88F - more than 10 degrees higher than the temperature recommended for that particular practice - and still cooler than normal! Ollie -

OliviaDee replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi James do we really have to do another summer with Dulwich Fusion unable to regulate the temperature of the studios? Last summer classes were repeatedly cancelled due to this and it seems this is about to happen all over again. If you go to a class that is cancelled and you are not a member you can get your money back - however if you are a member you can't and just lose out - with barely an apology and the buck constantly passed as to why it is not their fault. I am having to consider withdrawing my membership which i really don't want to do - i would much prefer that my very expensively recently refurbished local gym actually functioned. Either the staff don't know how to work the complicated computerised system or this very expensive system has never worked since it was installed. One inexpensive and easy and obvious solution would be to replace the plate glass windows with windows that actually opened. Simple. And it would prevent the members from being the ones suffering while Fusion, the Council and the designers sort out the problem which has been on-going now for a very long time. One worrying trend is that when classes go ahead in the high temperatures the themometres are often missing. Surely this is neither safe nor best practice? And even when a class does go ahead in these conditions most people have to sit out for a fair portion and the teacher has to moderate so we are not getting what we have signed up and paid for. If you know that this is going to continue all summer could i have a straight answer on it so i can leave now and not get all upset about it all over again? (And it is very upsetting to constantly organise (and sometimes pay) for childcare to go to a class that then gets cancelled at the last minute and this happened to me over and over last year. Many thanks Ollie -

wow Jeremy and Richard, thankyou so much for your extensive and generous answers. So, it's all a lot more tricky than i hoped - but kind of what i suspected. No chimney breast - but yes period features so i imagine the landlord may not be amenable. But at least i know now what i am talking about when i go to him, again many thanks Ollie

I live in one of Peckham Rye's terraced houses and there seems to be absolutely no soundproofing in the party wall - which is currently pretty miserable since a new family moved in next door and all they do is scream and shout at each other round the clock (dont worry no sign of domestic abuse or i'd be taking different action). Not only is the noise disruptive but the nature of it is really getting me down. They own and i rent - so i guess they're staying but i don't want to leave. So, does anyone know of a way the wall can be insulated without major works? Obviously i'd inform my landlord (and at this point i'm paying for it) but i'd like to know what i'm talking about before i raise the issue. Does anyone out there have advice for me or experience of this sort of thing? It would be greatly appreciated. thanks Ollie

Dulwich Medical Centre - Any good?
OliviaDee replied to Juliette&Rich's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
do you mean DMC on Chadwick Road? If so i am there and have never had too puch of a problem getting seen and i balance that against the fact that they have several top notch female doctors if that makes a difference to you.
