I've lived for 20 years on Friern on the other side of Underhill so I can't comment about the church. It was a terrible ratrun when we first moved in but now with the various traffic managing measures, it's incredibly quiet and also, I have always found it very friendly.

Thanks for posting this AM. Take no notice of the tedious reply. It's always so saddening to hear these stories about animal welfare. Let's hope they don't make it to ED.

Since watching those programmes I've hardly slept a wink.....curious and very annoying! -

Well done Pugwash....I'm sure she was really grateful. Good idea Salsaboy. The other thing I have since learned from the police and will never forget is to personalise it and give instruction eg., you, the man in the blue coat, go and dial 999. Apparently people are less likely to ignore it if they are made to feel responsible in some way. -

Pebbles, I was really badly attacked in public once and everyone just walked right on by and the only way I managed to escape, after a good half hour of struggling on the ground, was by holding onto a man's ankle walking past and begging for help. Afterwards people said they thought we were mucking about but I was screaming as loud as I could for help and on the ground, so I can't imagine why they would think that. I would have done anything to have someone help like you did so brilliant, well done. I would always try and do the same myself, even if it was to just call the police. -
I have always knitted and this year have learned to crochet in Sydenham. The details of these are on yo crochet website or same on Facebook....I really recommend them plus there's an improvers group at the Golden Lion in Sydenham on a Wednesday night or if you want to can just go and chat and crochet.

Really interesting to hear how much ED has changed since the 50's and 60's. I only came here in 1993 having been in Camberwell for sme years prior to this and have seen so many changes - some good and some bad - since then.

Sadly not e-dealer. Just typical of all the other dog walkers in the park. I can't really win either way. If I behave by the rules then I am just met with snide comments. Shame. -

Agree with all First Mate and Bonnie Bird have said! The fact of peeing footballers is well known amongst regular users of the park. And yes, just to confirm, I have one large dog and one tiny dog. I keep them on the lead where I am told to including the garden at the entrance and only let them off for a run on the field. I pick up their poo. I stop them from making any noise in the garden. I do not let them run up to people and I don't let the big one off the lead when the park is full of toddlers in case she intimidates them. I make sure they don't chase runners. And most of all, I NEVER walk them off the lead on the street - a new trend which I loathe. As has been said many times before, most of my fellow dog walkers are the same and it's a very small minority who flout the rules. Please don't penalise us because of the small minority who let the rest of us down. -
The bakery stall and the olive stalls are very good and I walk down there especially for a weekend treat most Saturdays. I enjoy pottering round the market myself and would be sorry to see it go.
