Alan, it is very difficult for numbers orientated left brain people to give the wrong tel out or even to contemplate the possibility of others doing it as their/our brains see patterns in strings of numbers. Most people don't and many people have trouble remembering their tel. There is, of corse, another explanation- maybe Ben did give her the wrong tel deliberately and then thought better of it/ realised the error/ wanted to change his life (Atticus, I am with you all the way.) Ben the other thing is: if you are still reading our menaderings, British (and probably French but I am open to correction on this) will generally prefer men to take their nos as opposed to thinking that the girl will call rhe man. It has been a few years since I dated anyone but girls surely still expect men chase them a bit, don't they?!

Dr Alan, what does this chap have to gain by finding this girl if he is not genuine? He isn't asking for her details, merely that she contact him if she is interested.

Which sainsburys please? Dkh? -
I think overbearing or overly opinionated grandmas are easier to put up with when you know they are just obsessed with their new grandchild. It is the mothers who aren't very interested who are harder to deal with as it is so unnatural. Posters like Dully above however demonstrates that it can be done and I take my hat off to her, actually, for realising that her mother has issues and complexities she cannot change and has to accept/work around.

I could not face registering for classes initially after the awful queues etc reported on here. Have their systems improved enough for me to try again? If so, which classes do I need for a toddler? (the centre itself is very confused on this, amazingly enough) thank you

Very interesting thread. At least cuppa, your mother does what the best for you as it appears that other "mothers" exist who don't. That I find very odd and almost anti evolution. Re the photos, maybe this will lighten everyone's mood. The best man's wife at our wedding felt it helpful to bring her wedding albums to our wedding and show them around the top table. I was furious but laughed my head off when I saw my poor mother's face of fury and shock!

Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair - is it worth it?
new mother replied to MrsAk's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Errr no clearly not worth it when you read so many postings about tipping back.... -
Cuppa, that is infuriating. I wonder if there is a divided loyalty thing going on as well. They don't like to seethe clear evidence of our new priorities, while of course adoring the new arrival to the ends of the earth. I am glad others react like teenagers to their parents staying. I thought I was desperately immature for it(!). Any idea what triggers it? Xxx

Making the most of an elective c-section

By the way, they don't have shampoo etc at kings so take your own stuff. Also you do not get your own room so it is very squashed for visitors. It took me a long time to get out after all drs said I could go so make noises in that direction early if you want to get home. -
Yes: they should not be handed out at school, obviously. They should be handed out at the end of the party. Children's parties are expensive but they only have one birthday a year and they will always remember it. It is not much when you consider how much we all spend on eg a night out, surely?

V cheap on amazon where we got one for car seat and pram.

Yes I understood that - per message. How about lots of fresh air and walks? Sounds basic but it does tire out even a lying down baby somehow...

Making the most of an elective c-section
new mother replied to Zo?'s topic in The Family Room Discussion
Congrats, it is the best decision you could have made and is vastly different in terms of recovery and procedure from an emergency one. I was home on the second day after the section Ie day three of the babies' lives in each case. I did too much from the off. I had no pain so I took no painkillers and acted as normal eg carrying the washing upstairs etc. I believed it was best to get back to normal fast but I paid a price for it in terms of lochia continuing for about six weeks. I just felt so well I cldnt bear to be in bed as advised. I also had no issues of picking up the babies etc. Re driving, I never wanted to as everything is handy for me and we had a lot of visitors so I didn't need to cart the babies around very far. I am extremely excitedfor you. I would love to be having a third. Good luck! -
Ruth poor you :-( Actually, maybe the key was that we didn't mix feed. We used special bottles each time and the girls slept from 11 to 7 at around eight weeks and for 12 hours Plus a few weeks later.I take my hat off to anyone who can go for longer than two months with broken sleep- I need my sleep and without a decent stretch am completely unable to function. The calorie thing didn't worry me at all as all my family are thin so it didn't cross my mindthat my children might end up otherwise or dependent on high calorific intake late at night. Hope it gets sorted out V.

Formula? The heavier feed might help with at least one of the wake ups?

The seeds are a great idea. Some sunflowers perhaps? They will have great fun watching them grow. Re party bags, if other children ring them, I would feel I had to too, to reciprocate. Maybe two pounds per bag, no more.

Unless, of course, their surname was "mouse" ;-)

Actually the money is surprisingly poor forthe time involved... Or at least that is the case for tv ads

I and my friends tend towards more traditional names so there are some Marys, Elizabeths, Sophias, Catherines etc. As a variation on Margaret, I like Marguerite which strikes me as much more feminine somehow. Am I the only one shocked by the parents immaturity in giving the middle name Danger? It struck me as quite pathetic.

independent midwives - who aren't homeopaths!
new mother replied to Kes's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Isn't she an MP? ;-) Kes, isn't it funny how we feel the need to apologise for taking an analytical, good grief "evidence based" approach, when, logically, it should be the other way round?! Good for you. -
related query if anyone knows the answer ...how does teething powder work? is it an anti-inflammatory?

Personally, I belive most strikes and union organised action a total waste of time. There was a period in history when Trades Unions were able to achieve significant improvements in conditions and pay for their members using solidarity and the option of strikes as negotiation tactics. Marmora Man - quite right.
