  1. Welcome to ED, Edtots gives a good overview of activties throughout the week: http://www.edtots.co.uk/ Sorry I am back working full-time so cannot give any recent recommendations but when on maternity leave my little one loved the local sing and sign group. Good luck.
  2. I would check out EDtots http://www.edtots.co.uk/
  3. Sorry no advise but my parents had my brother checked at approx the same age 18 months or 2 years old. My mum's best friend thought he was slow in his developmental milestones and mentioned something to my Mum. Mum always talked about how it made her feel better to know that someone else had picked up on things, it was not just her going over things in her mind, plus how getting professionals involved puts your mind at ease. Sorry cannot be of more help. All the best for Xmas and New Year.
  4. For the nursery drop off on Monday could you borrow a fold up double buggy something like a maclaren. Could the nursery staff store some extra things for you at the beginning of the week so that you don't need to carry as much each day? With nursery staff you could ask to put a notice up in the staff room - maybe a part-time member of staff may be interested. Also maybe contact local colleges and find out if they have any child care students who live locally and could use the work. As the last option you could always advertise for someone to help out and see what responses you receive.
  5. Do you know any other parents attending the nursery - would they be willing to help out? Any friends who are stay at home parents who would be willing to help out for baby sitting credits etc? Depending on the nursery rules - could approach a member of staff to work for you privately before the nursery opens? Below are some links which provide further information on your right to apply for flexible working. If you need any assistance with an application please just send me a private message. Good luck with it all. https://www.gov.uk/flexible-working/overview http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=803 http://www.equalityhumanrights.com/advice-and-guidance/before-the-equality-act/guidance-for-employers-pre-october-10/guidance-on-managing-new-and-expectant-parents/managing-the-return-from-maternity-leave/requests-for-flexible-working/

  11. I called Millwall Football club tonight and spoke to Kiara, she kindly offered to put some posters up in the bar area for the match tonight. I tried to email a link to the poster to Kiara but the email keeps bouncing back. If anyone could drop off a poster to the club tonight Kiara is happy to make copies etc. Sorry I would go myself but I have an 11 month old baby.
  12. Sorry should have been a message not a post - sorry admin not sure how to remove.
  13. Hi I used to attend the ballet sculpt and ballet classes at Push Studio's twice a week before my wee little one came long. They have classes both during the week and weekends - http://pushstudios.co.uk/en/timetable/ The classes are cheaper if you buy a class card. After attending a few classes you can remember the actions/steps etc. I still do some at home when I can. In terms of teachers, I can highly recommend Annia she was great, especially helped me regain my strength and tone after two operations.
  14. The other place to look is Amazon the stones are much cheaper - search for something like tumblestones or crystals. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tumbled-Stones-20-Mixed-Tumblestones/dp/B0038NX26A/ref=pd_sim_k_h_b_cs_4 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Assorted-Tumble-Stone-Crystals-Organza/dp/B001E33HY8/ref=pd_sim_k_h_b_cs_1
  15. Holts in Hatton Garden (http://www.holtsgems.com/) had some really nice polished stones in a box for ?1 or ?2 pounds when we visited one day. Plus they had a children's lucky dip. Long way to travel but if you call them they may send some via post.
  16. I would second the advise re: the plane. We went via Qantas to Sydney in March on the A380 and it was wonderful. We then came back from Sydney to London on BA in a 747. The BA plane was terrible, it felt old and small compared to the A380. Important when trying to change nappies. We were also far from impressed with the BA service. 1.5 hours to check-in at Sydney airport. I was nursing the baby during a meal so I asked if I could have it later, after feeding the baby I asked for the meal, at first they said no but eventually gave in. On the second stage of the flight we were served last again and at first they thought they had no more meals available, eventually they found something. They only provided one meal to our little girl (8 months) 20 minutes before landing at Heathrow - I had packed some food for her just in case which we had to use. One other mother travelling on her own pressed the buzzer three times for hot water for a bottle, no one came so she eventually went to get some herself, she was bumped on the way back and burnt her hand it looked terrible poor thing. I would only ever fly BA again for trips less than 3 hours long. The service from Qantas was wonderful, kept meals for both of us, 6 jars of baby food per flight, came by every couple of hours and asked me if I needed water etc.
  17. Take a look at http://www.edtots.co.uk/ the site shows lots of local activities and includes all the key details like location, cost or free etc. Sorry my little one is only 9 months so not sure about the best playgrounds but there is one near Goose Green and one in Peckham Rye Park. Both seem to be busy when I walk by. Welcome to ED it is great place to live.
  18. I would take a look at http://www.edtots.co.uk/ it is web-site which shows what is on in the local area each day, plus additional details like cost and location.
  19. Sorry cannot recommend any employment lawyers but have you considered calling ACAS: Helpline on 08457 47 47 47. Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm and Saturday, 9am-1pm http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=146 They can provide information on employment rights and rules and it is free.
  20. Edtots is a great web-site which gives details on a range of local activities for little people including listings for each day of the week including Friday's. http://www.edtots.co.uk/
