Early morning trip to Gatwick Airport...
Claire35 replied to caumacau's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There's a taxi company called Camberwell Cars who are reasonable and reliable. I always use them for early morning flight....agree that train tickets are expensive anyway. -
Shocking photos...sorry about my explanation re greyhounds...it's just that a number of friends have told me how skinny mine is so I just wanted to set the record straight Seriously worrying if those digs you mention look anything like the photos. Can you tell the RSPCA when and where the digs are walked?

Ah, I hadn't noted that it was a legal requirement. Thanks -
Bouncers Security. On Lordship Lane
Claire35 replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's the requirement for bouncers that bothers me. No harm getting drunk of a weekend, but not to the extent that we need bouncers to protect people from themselves. Ah well...I'll admit middle age and go somewhere else...ha ha -
I am a greyhound owner and despite looking rather skinny, he is actually well within his weight range at 32kgs/ about 5 stone. I do worry about people not familiar with greyhounds might think so I often find myself telling people how much he weighs and that it is normal for the last 3 ribs to be on show. On a healthy greyhound you can see the last 3 ribs and also the pin bones above the hips...although these should not make the hair stick up. The lack of fat is why you always see people coating up their greyhounds in chilly weather. To make up for this lack of fat, you should check out the size of his muscles.... Perhaps these Italian greyhounds are recently rescued. I know that our dog was 2 kgs lighter 2 months ago. To be honest, I agree that someone wouldn't walk their dog in public if they were being malnourished

Bouncers Security. On Lordship Lane
Claire35 replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No way? I don't recall the area being like this, but then I only moved in 5 years ago...I must admit I don't go out in the evening round here any more. Last time I did walk down Lordship Lane on a Friday/ Sat night I couldn't help noting how it seemed a bit boozy, rough and ready. Not that I mind boozing...be nice to have a good old-fashioned, local pub with good beers etc etc For that reason I much prefer the Pheonix and the Cambria...but Lordship Lane would be nearer. -
What is the current state of Dulwich Women's institute?
Claire35 replied to elderflower's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks snowboarder. TBH, I am part of a generation of women (or maybe it is just me) that did many thing their "working class" mothers and grandmothers never did...went to university, work in City, worked abroad, bought my own flat etc etc...and you know what? I would kill for something "pointless and frivolous" like bunting making...and whatever else the group decide they want to do with their time, more serious activities (knife crime etc) included.. -
What is the current state of Dulwich Women's institute?
Claire35 replied to elderflower's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Good lord....if women are this bitchy, I am beginning to think I have no intention of joining a club consisting entirely of women. I thought it was all about getting together and having some fun. And the point of any club is that it is democratic. If you join, you can choose to get involved in organising events that you find of relevance or interest. I'm sure the current members, democratically liked the idea of making bunting. What's the problem? Phew, can I still come next month? :-) -

Old trees in East Dulwich & around
Claire35 replied to monniemae's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There certainly must be. I bought a map of ancient trees in Dulwich surrounds from the bookshop in Dulwich village years ago and they were all identified. Not sure whether it covers East Dulwich or not but I will have a look tonight. -
Most famous person I've seen in ED so far....
Claire35 replied to stevebailey's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Jo Brand shopping in the big Sainsbury's. It was like realising your teacher lives a real life. Shamefully, I stared at her...I think she must have developed coping strategies for this kind of behaviour. Once upon a time (not in ED)I found myself gawping at Paul McCartney taking a morning stroll across Regents Park.....he actually said good morning..waaahhhh! -
I apologise in advance if there have been lots of threads on this subject but does anyone have a clue what is happening to train services in Denmark Hill and East Dulwich? My work colleague has been worrying me about Denmark Hill closing, which is a wonderful route to Victoria, City Thameslink and London Bridge....surely it can not be closed being as it serves one of London's largest hospitals?
