  1. Wow - what amazingly underwhelming idea. Sorry Mr Barber, really really soft, sad and second rate. I have no issue with public art when done properly, but throwing a few dozen plastic sheets at a wall does not improve it. I would also suggest the budget is pretty poor and if raised to say ?10k and opened to the local artist community including the lovely people in Forest Hill I am sure you would get a great set of proposals. Please see the below link for excellent public art / signage. http://graphicdefiner.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/bankside-5.jpg?w=500&h=316 If the goal is to make NCR market more of a destination and cool, why not just scale up the road sign to cover the whole wall? The sign is sort of iconic in its design and would really cover up that ugly wall.
  2. I think schools having the audacity to take the kids out and to show them the world is shocking. Especially as they are privileged kids. The fact they use coaches is also shocking as it disturbs the good folk of the neighbouring areas when going about their very self-important tasks.
  3. My Vespa has been drained as well, some time in the last fortnight off Hillcourt Rd. Little shits.
  4. We went for a walk to the woods on Christmas Day and there were a lot of police and tape about. Clearly, something pretty awful had happened which was very sad - especially so given what day it was, but does anyone know what had happened?

This is the first time I have heard of Labour taking an interest - and I have been looking into this subject for some time now. Can you send me a PM with evidence of your discussions demonstrating what 'some time' means.
  6. Vikki - I am a swaying Labour / LibDem supporter and your childish point scoring is pushing me away from Labour. Please stop this petty behaviour and take it elsewhere. Please just sign the bloody petition as a resident rather than a politico and lets work together for once. You are just splitting hairs and it is unhelpful. If you can't do this, please remove yourself from this thread and start your own - two petitions would be better than this one being ruined by you.
  7. I've been putting steroids in Tiddles' din dins.
  8. thankth for the thupport!
  9. Townley - pithy? How rude. You nasty bit of work.
  10. back off townley. No-one asked you to come on here either.
  11. There are rules, but at the end of a job, with fines looming, the rules come a distant second. If the works are on track - of course they will adhere to them. Also, at the end of the fit, it is mainly internal moving and fitting of tills, electronics etc which are not covered by the works notices.
  12. Having some experience of working with supermarkets, they will ask the contractor to pre-agree a completion date and there will be heavy cost penalties if they miss that date. Therefore, the site manager will be under huge pressure to get everything completed in time, plus i would also hazard a guess the heavy equipment such as fridges and ovens will be going in towards the end of this week / weekend. If the store opens on the 18th, final fit, stocking etc will take place on the 17th, so expect lots of workers, staff, vans, lorries and general bustle in the preceding 24hrs.
  13. Why have all the replies been deleted but not the original rant? The rant is completely out of line.
  14. it could have been handed in to lost property at Euston. They have 100's of umbrellas there. Go and ask if yours has been handed in and chances are he will give you one.
  15. Very glad it is sainsburys and coming soon. Still wish it was M&S simply food though.
  16. Perhaps they thought the new improved fascia was a step to far and catering to the Clapham arrivistes so decided to take the overall ambiance back a few decades.
  17. anyone know the planned opening date? we need to raise an ED welcoming committee (massed ranks of prams and chaps demanding prosecco).
  18. Not quite LL, but the Taste the Difference Primitivo Del Salento from Sainsbogs is about ?5 and very very good. It is on the sweeter side of dry, with lots of fruit and a good balance. It won an award for something, what ever that means. As with all Puglian wines, it benefits from lots of sun, so has lots of fruit flavours and a high alchohol rating. It does go down rather quickly though... hic

  20. always use the royal mail guaranteed next day service if you need something to arrive reliably. It is still cheaper than couriers and seems to be running ok. I have been using if for important docs and parcels for the last month as a result of too many 1st class delays and it seems to be delivering as promised to-date.
  21. I hope he enjoys his inevitable stint in IVF - not a subject for jokes really.
  22. Can we have the pavement outside the shops tidied up as with Dunstans Rd?
  23. To me I simply see it as a case of a convicted criminal going on the run. No more no less. I amazes me he has been able to travel and work so freely, which does indeed raise many questions about his colleagues over these years. Unless of course he didn't do the crime, but in which case, why admit guilt? Until he is proven innocent., I think he needs to be banged up for the 15 years he should have served. With his oscar for a reminder.
  24. A friend of mine says being wolf-whistled at is a sign that she needs to go on a diet. I'm not suggesting anything - just commenting...(!)
  25. Bunch of complete self-serving tossers of the highest order.
