  1. We are having wheely bin storage set into our garden with wooden doors in front so The bins are no longer left on the pavement 24/7 , and wondered whether you still need to put the bins out on the pavement for the bin men to collect. My fear being they will see our attempt to improve the streetscape as an inconvenience to their working life, and therefore will take any opportunity to smash them up. To be clear, the bins would be accessed directly from the path, they would not have to come into our property.
  2. Does anyone know when the gates will be installed on underhill rd?
  3. Great news - The total required has been reached, to the feasibility study should now go ahead. Of course, there will be compromises, and I am sure there will be some opposition, but the overwhelmingly positive nature of this campaign will drown out the local trolls. Well done everyone.
  4. Hi all locals, This project has just received a pledge of ?10,000 from Southwark council a few minutes ago. It is only a few thousand short of the target now, with 14 days to go. Come on people, dig deep and pledge what ever you can! Imagine having this on our doorstep on a day like today!
  5. To add, he is asking for up front sponsorship, and has a long list of names (all written in the same handwriting) who have all paid him ?10 or ?20 each...
  6. I have just had a knock on the door from a man saying he is Dean Morgan looking to arrange a sponsored penalty shoot out on 5th may in Brockwell park. He says he coaches forest hill Eagles. Is this legit? I suspect a scam. This is in the Underhill road area.
  7. I called yesterday to make a fairly important appointment, and furnished the receptionist with quite a bit of info, to be told there was nothing at all, no appts were being released and to call back for an emergency duty doctors call in the morning. My wife called today, spoke to a different receptionist, explained the same as me, got an appointment tomorrow. It's just bloody frustrating and a waste of 30 minutes of my life sitting on hold. Her lack of manners and grace is quite something to behold too.
  8. Anyone know what is happening to the old laundrette on forest hill rd next to the co-op? Building being cleared...
  9. We left our daughters red Micro scooter in the Peckham rye adventure park over half term. I doubt it's still there, but anyone who had seen it, or knows it's whereabouts, please let us know!!

    Fox repellent

Get some blokes round for a bbq, ply them with beer and tell them they have to pee in the garden.
  11. Give + Take to become Question Air (clothes / accessories). Not sure if this is old news or not...!
  12. Budgens on LL to become a Nando's.
  13. I wonder what the average MPG achieved by cars in the LJ area was before the closures, compared to now. i suspect they will have dropped significantly. a stationary car - even with start/stop technology spit out more fumes per mile than a moving car. There are no green credentials for this proposal.
  14. I heard the sea cow in lordship lane is to become meat liquor. Two separate sources.
  15. Can I suggest anyone who disagrees with the closure signs the below link. https://www.change.org/p/lambeth-council-cancel-proposed-road-closures-in-the-loughborough-junction-and-myatt-s-fields-areas
  16. My daughter left her orange ray-ban sunglasses in the toilets at the pavilion cafe in Dulwich Park today. If you picked them up or your kids did, please return them. As they are prescription, they are both expensive and only suitable for her. We bought them to make her feel more confident about wearing glasses, we really would appreciate their return!
  17. That would be a great asset and a great development for dawsons hill, which remains unloved, underused and a bit neglected.
  18. Actually, my whole point was for local residents to stop being so obstructive, argumentative and complaining about every single change that anyone proposes. rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Forgive me, I really don't want to get into a long > winded debate about this, but I thought the whole > thread was about planning regulations / objections > and the fact that some posters suggested (perhaps > implicitly) that they rules should be relaxed to > allow significantly more houses to be built. 19. I believe larger families are also struggling to find housing stock that is suitable in London, simply because so much development is geared towards flat or smaller developments. The price is driven by demand as well as location. I applaud the estate for considering the minority (regardless of how rich they are). As I said earlier, the housing shortage affects everyone. The need for basement garages / storage is a personal one there is no point discussing as each has their own needs. Personally, I would quite like a man cave.
  20. All development is disruptive. We currently have crossrail going on and a northern line extension not far from us. These are removing vast quantities of soil, so a few basements is not that bad in comparison, and it will not last for ever. tomskip Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think the main opposition to the development in > Dulwich Village is to do with the basement > excavations, which will be truly disruptive, > require constant removals of huge loads of earth, > noisy and time consuming. And, really, we are > desperately short of affordable housing in London, > not luxury houses like those proposed by SG Smith.
  21. It is a housing shortage that affects everyone at every level, some have my sympathy, some don't!
  22. I have looked over a few local developments and the general feedback and posts on the forum. M&S / Iceland: The never ending saga and regardless of flats or offices, plenty of opposition SG Smith / Village: Opposition Upland road: Complaint about no-go-zone Railway Rise / station: Appeal / English heritage referral?! Police station / School: No resistance yet but I am sure a plan will change that. Complaints about future disruption already. Hospital / School: As above. I am sure i have missed a few smaller developments. My point being, as was discussed on Radio 4 this morning, we are falling short of building about 100k homes a year in the UK. I am not suggesting a slash & burn approach, I visit China too often to see what the outcome of that is, but what I am suggesting, is that the local residents of SE22 & SE21 get a sense of perspective and realise that the alternative to squeezing as much as possible onto brownfield, is greenfield sites. We live in a lovely area, which is urban. We have plenty of open and protected green space. What we are talking about in all these developments is maximising use of existing developed land which is what the last 3 governments have all pushed for (to prove this is not a political point). I don't see what the issue with this can be, other than nibyism. The housing needs to be affordable, not just in the social sense, but in a generally commercial sense. With this in mind, the developers are often running a pretty tight ship in terms of profit, and are trying to tread a very fine line between keeping planning happy and actually making a profit. I would recommend, that as a community, we look at these proposed buildings and encourage them to be as developed as possible, (like M&S) in order to minimise the potential spread onto our open spaces.
  23. Pleased to see common sense and and a removal of parking restrictions is happening at last. relaxed parking increases non-local visitors and helps the wider community. James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This suggestion came in response to my and Cllr > Rosie Shimell request for the Friday parking > restrictions to largely be removed - they're > pointlessly catching people out when the Friday > market barely exists. > > So far Nutfield Road residents who've responded to > me are in favour IF it's made clear at the other > end that the road is closed and not a through > route - keen to avoid lots of reversing vehicles. > > What do people think? > > THANKS nxjen.
  24. As a local resident, and business owner, I would like to wholeheartedly support this new application. Firstly, the redevelopment of the store to a Marks & Spencer food hall would be a welcome addition to the local high street. It would serve as a draw to the area from local residents who may otherwise shop near work or stations in central london (as well as neighbouring SE21, SE15 and SE26 postcodes). In turn this will greatly benefit the local shops & market from the increased footfall. The building redevelopment is also greatly needed as the current building is very tired. As business owner, I would certainly consider relocating my offices to this building once the work complete. The current office / business provision in SE22 is in dire need of improvement. I point to the SE21 Parkhall BC as a guide to show what local business are capable of. I concede there will be short term disruption while the works take place, but it will benefit the neighbourhood for the next decade or more. This area of Lordship lane has so much potential to become a true destination in London. I disagree with the claim this area is already over populated or too busy. With minimal council involvement and no parking restrictions, Lordship lane can continue to thrive & grow along with its growing population and changing demographic.
  25. freeholds / buildings can be sold without affecting the incumbent leaseholder...
