Where do these parakeets originate from? A friend recently told me that they originated from the Humphrey Bogart film The African Queen which was filmed at Pinewood. Apparently hundreds of them escaped from the set and started breeding. I wonder if this is true? I would like it to be.

I read somewhere that the Americans dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and nagasaki because of what they had to go through on Okinawa and the other pacific islands. The Japanese were quite prepared to sacrifice their lives in battle,even on the islands of no military tactical consequence.Okinawa was a total bloodbath.the Americans had nightmares of what an invasion of the Japanese mainland would incur in casualties on both sides hence their use of the a bomb. That's what I read anyway.

You should try the latest gimmick that's out. You can now hire friends ! There's a website called rentafriend.com that does this. I read about it in the newspaper today. One drawback is it doesn't come cheap. They should advertise on this website. Isn't that why we all use this forum anyway, because we don't have any friends.

My friend and I want to go to a nice resort in the med in a couple of weeks. We're girlies in our late thirties and want somewhere that doesn't sell chicken and chips and isn't frequented by wallys. A bit of sophisticated nightlife and some nice beaches. Any suggestions are most welcome.
