Not a patch on Percy Ingle

Lush have always been bluntly political. It's their niche. It seems Lush use the sale of soap to further their political views, not the other way around. I find their campaign intriguing. I was familiar with the cases they're referencing long before this campaign ever surfaced. I wonder what the correlation is between people who disagree with their campaign, and people who would have never bought their soap anyway...?

He makes the rounds. He was in Lewisham earlier this year.

Ruskin Park paddling pool was scheduled to reopen on 26th May after a refurb. I haven't been there this weekend as we were away, so I don't know how it's been. Last summer it was really lovely. There is also a natural paddling area in Ladywell Fields, by the caf?. We've been there several times over the past few weeks, and there have even been ducklings (further upstream where the water is quiet, not in the paddling area obvs). Most of last summer the paddling area was dry, as there were works on the main weir upstream. So far this spring the water has been flowing nicely. xx

Immunisation booster for teenagers
Saffron replied to wonderwoman's topic in The Family Room Discussion
All the things you say about medicine are also true of alt medicine. However, there is no systematic, reflexive system for peer-review or legislative review of alt medicine. There is a logical fallacy in the supposition that all evidence based medicine is flawed bc some some evidence is flawed (ignored etc). The idea that taking your children's health in your own hands automatically results in rejection of evidence based medicine on the premise of flawed evidence, is therefore also a logical fallacy. -
Immunisation booster for teenagers
Saffron replied to wonderwoman's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Alternative med is guilty of fraud, lies, and lack of transparency, w or w/out big pharma, which doesn't mean we shouldn't seek to improve the pharma industry, or the alt med industry (which has indeed been guilty of egregious fraud entirely independently of big pharma in recent years). It's a logical fallacy to assume there is no value in anything that comes from the pharma industry, or likewise to assume that anything not associated with pharma is somehow above reproach. However, if a person wants to make an evidence based medical decision, then the evidence supports the safe and effective use of immunisations in general, in relative terms. xx -
Sounds like you're having some difficulties. I hope all will be well in the end. I'm just bumping this thread in case anyone can help. xx

Immunisation booster for teenagers

------------------------------------------------------- > ...it is fair to look at the whole > pictures. I have a problem with disconnecting > fraud and lies, which > are common in this industry, the constant battle > for > transparency... To get an even bigger picture, the same applies to Big Alt Med as an industry-- fraud, lies, and lack of transparency. These are problems with industrialisation etc, inherent in many industries. Without knowing more about the OP's particular scenario, it's hard to comment further. However, if your child successfully received their initial course of injections without notable side effects, then there's no reason to think that he/she would encounter notable difficulties with the booster. They are safe in relative terms. How you choose to view the value of these boosters will vary. If you choose not to take the booster, consider the personal and wider social costs of infection, should you be exposed to the vaccine-preventable disease. xx -
School dinner / packed lunch question
Saffron replied to Saffron's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I get that it can be difficult for some schools to plan. I'm not querying that. I'm curious as to why my daughter's school isn't clear about it. I'm currently looking at two different pieces of paperwork that suggest different things. Odd. -
School dinner / packed lunch question
Saffron replied to Saffron's topic in The Family Room Discussion
No we're just over the border in Lewisham. Dinners were only free in KS1. -
How does your school handle payment for school dinners? For example, if your child takes a packed lunch every Friday, but has school dinners the other 4 days, do you have to pay for the whole week anyway? I've been paying online using Parentpay. My daughter only eats 4 school dinners per week, so that's what I've been paying. However, recently I was reading one of the letters from our school, and it's worded to suggest that this is not allowed. It's either all or nothing with payment. I'm just a bit confused now. Wondering how this is supposed to work???

For non-pedigree, I think it's reasonable to ask a small amount on top of vaccinations if you've been caring for the kittens and socialising them. Minimum age to rehome is 12-14 wks, and I'd be v suspicious of anyone buying younger kittens. You can't sell kittens on the ED Forum or many other forums. Going through your vet is probably best. xx

Opinions - nursery closed, do you pay still or catch up?

I've no personal experience of this dilemma, but would Southwark Family Information Service be able to advise? https://www.southwark.gov.uk/childcare-and-parenting/family-information-service -
Just gonna throw a couple of unusual things out there... Did they rule out MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome / histamine intolerance)? Or, brachioradial pruritus? Aging (specifically menopause) is said to worsen MCAS. Hot bath/ shower is meant to temporarily worsen symptoms, then improve symptoms for several hours (by depleting mast cells of their histamine stores). BP is thought to be a form of neuropathy, but not a lot is known about the source of the neuropathy. Cold packs are said to improve it, possibly by reducing impulses in the nerves. Hope you're able to find some relief. xx

The appearance of being incompetent can sometimes be a cover for fraud. However, the point isn't whether it is or isn't fraud. The point is that the fraud team IME have also been good at sorting out cock ups caused by incompetence (even where they detected no fraud). In every case, the fraud team seemed to have a better understanding of bank procedures and more scope of powers to ammend mistakes than did my branch managers. They also seemed more willing to investigate than did managers. Maybe branch managers have no incentive to investigate or correct mistakes, in comparison to fraud investigators..? Who knows..? I'm just relaying my personal experiences. I hope it all gets sorted for you eventually. xx

Secondary school - kids with working parents
Saffron replied to damzel's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Look at the performing arts clubs? Some of these take older children. We are ED borders, so my daughter went to Montage Theatre Arts in Brockley last summer, but maybe there are other similar clubs around your specific area. Montage, for example, take children up to 14 years. xx -
Email your bank's central Fraud Department. Tell them that you suspect fraudulent activities on this account, as the branch holding this account has failed on multiple occasions to perform simple requests regarding personal details and correct usage of the account. IME, sadly some bank managers are useless. However, everytime my bank has cocked up something and failed to investigate it promptly (usually something to do with my parents / overseas banking), an email to their central fraud team had things sorted asap. I'm so sorry for your loss, and the banking rubbish you've had on top. I hope it can be righted quickly for you. xx

See a doc if you have high fever you can't keep down, breathlessness or uncontrollable coughing fits. Otherwise, unfortunately, the respiratory system can be slow to heal because damage to the cells that line it takes a while for the body to repair. I was sick from early December until mid Jan. I'm not convinced it was the flu because I only had low fever. Also, I felt like I might have been unlucky to have two different viruses in succession. There are dozens of other viruses with flu-like symptoms, eg adenovirus, respiratory syncytial virus etc. They can be nearly as nasty as the flu! Get well soon. xx

Ah, too late, just realised we've missed that one. What about the Office Worker's party in Feb?
