  1. Guy about 20 year old tried to mug my 16 year old for his phone last weekend. At the bus stop at junction of Barry and Underhill rd's. Light skinned mixed race male. He had a male and female accomplice who walked away as did the thief. Scum.
  2. "So nat'ralists observe, a flea Hath smaller fleas that on him prey; And these have smaller fleas to bite 'em. And so proceeds Ad infinitum."
  3. maybe you should get out your guitar and show them how it's done ?!
  4. You can post them to an amnesty international address who will recycle them. I have some envelopes
  5. The only plumber known to recommend such a system is a Mr Heath Robinson & Son. Does your radiator warm up or become 'hot'?
  6. I totally agree with KK if we allow this whatever next ? Folk will start laying out large squares of fabric to sit upon, even bringing in family members to claim land rights. In the past I've seen these 'space hoggers' set out wooden sticks 22 yards apart and run between them for hours which prevented me sitting in my favourite spot. When I complained they started throwing a ball to intimidate me. This kind of anti-social behaviour is a bad example for children, they gather in groups after school, marking out plots with piles of blazers and bags. The words "slope" and "slippery" are causing a strange buzzing in my head!! It's this type of unilateral declarations that led to all the problems in Pimlico. Call the 'Parkie' before it's too late !!!
  7. It might be a bit slimey, if it's true. But agents have access to databases able to give them the info, such as the Land Registry. Data Protection Act is about data, not knowledge. It applies to information stored on computer or filing systems.
  8. we also had a Sparrow hawk attach a few weeks ago. Also had birds flying into the patio doors quite a few times over the last few years. A sparrow crashed this morning, caused my misses to spill her cuppa all over herself. Fortunately it recovered before the cats pounced.

    Pet towels

I have some old towels, does anyone know any local animal shelters who might find a use for them ?
  11. Had an amazing display of nature in action this morning. Sat at the patio doors sipping a cuppa, watching the sparrows and tits drinking out of a bowl of water on the wall. The bowl is tucked into a Pyracantha to save them from the local cats. Unfortunately it didn't offer enough cover from the Kestrel / Sparrow hawk that crashed down on a poor Sparrow. Bird of prey last seen swooping across the garden with its breakfast between its talons. The other birds quickly took shelter in the bush, popping outa few seconds later and disappearing. Amazing scene not sure exactly what the bird was as It was all over in a second. Half expected Kate Humble pop her head around the corner.
  12. I'd like to build a shed / summerhouse at the end of my backgarden. I plan for it to have foundations and be built of breeze blocks / bricks plus double glass doors. It would then be clad with reclaimed timber so it looks like a wooden construction. Does anyone know if I need planning permission or if any Building regs apply. Or can I just go ahead and do it ?
  13. I recognise a few faces in the photo as ex-Kingsdale students. They are really talented, made some fantastic sounds in the school concerts. Let us know when practise I'll come and listen.
  14. Upland Road
  15. I guess if the police are investigating it must be a simple task for science to differentiate between fox and dog. I wouldn't discount the rogue fox theory. A friends (ED resident) infant was attacked by a fox in Fulham a few years ago. In broad daylight walking down the footpath when the fox emerged from between cars and bit the childs leg. The fox then went on to chase a jogger and elderly couple with a dog on a leash.
  16. "more likely that the pet of a friend or family member attacked the child than a fox." DJK .. what leads your brother to this conclusion ?
  17. actually Sophie did make a few valid points ... "protect from burgulars, paedophiles- oh, and of course, foxes." I'll go get mi gun !
  18. Pm'd you
  19. Why rush ! It's a free advertising space in your garden.
  20. There's a massive hospital over the hill !
  21. I agree Morocco is good for a short break. Might be cool in Feb though ! We went at Easter before last for a week (same reason). Three days in the High Atlas mountains and four in Marrakech think I'd TRS them for another trip. Can recommend good hotels if you decide to go. Need to go a little further south for sun. Canaries is better but have to research the best island as it can be windy too. Gambia sun is guaranteed but maybe a bit far (6 hrs).
  22. I'd like to share something that happened to me this evening.? A brief moment but one that I'll never forget. In conversation with my 15 year old son over dinner he said .. "...yes dad, I think you're right"? Incredible.
  23. I think you meant to say "I'm going to use reasonable force on him / her"
  24. Does anyone have a list or know a site that lists 6th Form school/colleges accessible from ED. Cheers
  25. Let me know your address I'll bring you a few buckets full you can recreate a crowd scene from Ben Hur.
