  1. I found this really useful: Raising Happy Brothers and Sisters
  2. I think it is worth deciding what to do early on and sticking to it. I avoided giving a specific name until I'd worked out what I was comfortable with the result that bigsister newto (3.5) and I have had a lot of conversations like this: Me: that's your vulva Bs newto: no it's my bottom. Boys don't have bottoms do they. Me: yes they do, Girls have vulvas and boys have willies Bs newto: .... On a loop for what feels like hours at a time... It is surprising how fixed an idea can become...
  3. Sorry to hear that. I had my purse stolen from my bag in Argos in Peckham in June. The police said I would have been identified as a target the instant I walked in with two small children and my bag on the pram. It was (and is) really upsetting to think that people target you because of your children but I think the message is not to leave valuables in a bag on the pram (also, keep keys, phone and oyster card separate from your purse so if it does get pinched at least you can cancel cards and get home etc.)
  4. I'd be interested too!
  5. Thanks! Will give it a go tomorrow.
  6. Can anyone recommend a cycle route between nunhead and south Kensington? I'd vote for the safest route but mr newto is really looking for the fastest... Thanks!
  7. Tripp trapp definitely. It really is an investment. My sister and I used them as kids and now our eldest children (5 and 3.5) are using the same ones more than 30 years later. We've both bought new ones for their younger siblings and they are identical as it is such a classic design.
  8. Peckham rye one o'clock club closed due to worries about trouble coming down from camberwell
  9. TMI but is the poo watery or mucousy? My little boy had very runny poos but it was mucous rather than watery. He has a cows milk protein allergy and I found when I cut out dairy completely it helped. Reducing dairy made it a bit better but not completely. His main symptom was a very itchy scalp. You might need to give up for a week at least to see an impact though. The only problem is that cutting dairy out completely means nothing made with butter too so no biscuits or cakes and surely that's half the point of maternity leave!
  10. Hi, my little boy has a dairy allergy too, it's surprising howu much of it there is around. It's early days with weaning for us and he is still mainly interested in milk. I switched to oat milk rather than soy as someone had mentioned the chances of soy allergy were higher. I chatted to a health visitor about it recently. She recommended pulses, humous, fish, chicken and not worrying. But did say I should ask my health visitor for a referral to a dietician, haven't done that yet but will do soon.
  11. Peckham pulse have classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for parents and children - 3 months to 3 years. After that they can start proper swimming lessons. ?63 for a 10 week course. Enrolement for the next course will be in a few weeks time I think. It is worth checking Dulwich leisure centre too but the water there will be a lot colder!
  12. Thanks for all the advice - it is such a difficult decision. I was thinking we'd combine school nursery with a childminder as I work full time but I think she might not get a nursery place until september 11 as her birthday is the end of january. Sounds like I need to take some time off to do some visits and get her name down for a couple of places because I won't necessarily get our first choice. And of course, getting into the nursery is no guarantee of getting a place at the school - sigh...
  13. hello, I hope you don't mind if I jump on board. We're planning on moving to East Dulwich Grove with our 2 year old this summer. I had hoped to get her into a school nursery so she'd be making friends locally before starting school but she is quite well settled with a child minder in Walworth where we live now so could just stay there. Is it realistic to get her into a school nursery nearby and which would people recommend - I think we'd be too far from Heber or Goodrich to get in?
