  1. https://www.timeout.com/london/city-life/whats-with-the-click-clacking-lime-bikes-all-over-london-right-now This might be the reason so many of them are poorly parked. If it is so easy to tamper & use the bikes for free then they probably don't care where they leave them also. There is no penalty if they users are undetectable.
  2. Pro Beauty on Hindmans Road. They always provide good advice and have a lovely manner. https://www.probeautyclinic.co.uk/
  3. I left those questions blank & each time there was a comment box in any of the sections, I said that we have ample space for parking in out street. Sort out the transport infrastructure to go further than the borough ex central london and you may have a case.
  4. It doesn't matter whether it's cyclist or driver. Your either a can or a can't & the person cycling on the pavement was definitely a can't, entitled with no regard for others. They don't just walk amongst us these days, they also drive & cycle 🙄
  5. It's ok to not agree with things, but there's a difference between still treating others with respect and being vengeful towards those you don't agree with. Turning point are bullies, they are trying to impose their hateful values on to others. I'm pretty sure the drag story time doesn't affect them in any form. If you don't like it simply don't go along, it's a choice! But when they are actively attacking people that's when support is required.
  6. Fantastic, I love a Wagamama. I think there is room for both that and Yama Momo, completely different food and price points. I hear what you say DKH, I've been to some & the staff don't have a clue. I hope they get it right here.
  7. Nothing at all, they are as guilty as the rest for pushing up rent. The reason Platform 1 and others before them disappeared And your point ,this is about the pound shop and as some say it will kill off other shops like Farmers so your point is ?? Jeez, you're about as blunt as a pencil with no lead! Part of the conversation was around ownership "Oh, and not all properties in SE22 are owned (or ever were owned) by Dulwich Estates." Just pointing out the correctness.
  8. Some of the properties are owned by the family that owns SMBS. Looks like your just trying to justify some think ,I don't know what ? Nothing at all, they are as guilty as the rest for pushing up rent. The reason Platform 1 and others before them disappeared
  9. The point I was trying to make is that, unless others know for certain, it may well be that Farmer's either owns their shop, or has it on a long and favourable lease. Business rentals are expensive, and not in the main getting cheaper, but it would be wrong to assume that all business properties are rented (or leased). Where they are not, then as a business on-cost the cost of ownership is different - there is still a cost of capital but it is made up of costs of upkeep (that would normally be the owner's responsibility) and the opportunity cost of not realising the capital value of the property. That opportunity cost is why firms sometimes operate sale and lease back options. Oh, and not all properties in SE22 are owned (or ever were owned) by Dulwich Estates. Business rates will still be an issue, as will increasing costs of e.g. power - although Farmer's (unlike say a restaurant with cooking, heating and refrigeration costs) will have more limited power costs - mainly lighting, with limited (I'm guessing) expenditure on heating. Cost models for shops such as Farmer's are very different from restaurants (and, in response to an earlier post, although the 'mark-up' of charges for food is very much higher than for the food's raw ingredients in restaurants the costs of producing prepared food, including storage and so on is significant over and above the raw ingredient cost). Where Farmer's costs are probably significant is in the cost of storing (shelving costs) their very wide range of products - which is also their USP. Some items will hang about in the shop for some time before their price is realised. Skill in stocking and ordering will be a key quality here, especially as, I'm guessing, unlike Poundland they won't have access to sophisticated EPOS systems and ordering algorithms to help them. Some of the properties are owned by the family that owns SMBS.
  10. Agreed, it was an advertising campaign by Poundland. It seems to have gotten them noticed. I can't see why anyone would be bothered where others shop, it makes no difference to our lives. Now, back to my chai latte made from my compostable tea bag in my reusable cup. No cake ??? Pound shop sell loads....just saying Nah, I'm on a diet ;-)
  11. They're not, though. By far the most agitated person is you. The Sun article was a pisstake based on a joke on the first page of this thread. 🤷‍♂️ Agreed, it was an advertising campaign by Poundland. It seems to have gotten them noticed. I can't see why anyone would be bothered where others shop, it makes no difference to our lives. Now, back to my chai latte made from my compostable tea bag in my reusable cup.
  12. I guess at least for once they went with the majority vote, not that it would have mattered.
  13. Agreed, also dish washing sponges, floor wipes. It's not acceptable in this day and age to have such throw away items that can't be recycled or biodegradable and end up in landfill. All supermarkets are guilty of this.
  14. I've often found that to be true also. I haven't price checked the pence per unit so unsure of any true savings.
  15. The Ferns concrete house @ 549 Lordship Lane, where Underhill Road meets the A205
  16. Hello Possums! TPUK were well outnumbered. I was speaking to a policeman there who said that we were the most civilised bunch of counter protesters he had ever seen. They didn't expect any trouble.
  17. Agreed Spartacus! And with all the bike thefts who wouldn't want to purchase one, pay a subscription for a bike hangar and wait in anticipation for it to be stolen and nothing is done about it. There are lots of improvements to be made before a mindset shift can be made.
  18. Yes! Yes! Our street have had the chat & made the application. We have a couple of republicans who won't be involved in the organisation but believe they will pop out to mingle.
  19. It's pretty shocking! With all the other costs going on at the moment I can foresee a lot of black bags in the green bins. Thankfully we got rid of our brown bin back in the days when they started charging. We have such a small amount of garden waste that we share the cost with our neighbour to use theirs.
  20. Assume they are gay lol .... herein lies the issue. The campaign going on now is to identify all those with the HIV virus and treat them so this generation will be the one to eradicate it.
  21. Wood burners should be banned, they emit 750 times more pollution than an HGV.... From what I understand most of East Dulwich is a smoke controlled area, you only have to walk outside on a cold day/night to understand this is not being adhered to, but the policing of this is non existent, they have neither the numbers or the budget to keep on top of it.
  22. Spot on! And the council even admits that Dulwich has higher car ownership, in part, because of the poor transport links in the area (when compared to areas in the north of the borough). Correct me if I am wrong but has any part of our public transport network locally actually got better or been improved since these measures were put in? I don't believe it has changed at all which is why it is still more convenient for people to use their cars in an LTN boundary road, would anyone choose to sit in idling traffic and increase our journey time if the public transport system worked?
  23. There has been an empty cycle hangar in our street for over a year & until bike thefts are sorted out I certainly won't be using one any time soon.
  24. Just read an article about Oslo having a fully electric public transport system in 2023. I spent a few years living in Oslo, without a car & borrowing an electric one when required. The public transport system meant I never needed a car (it was also reasonably cheap) & I used a bike in the fair weather. I also grew up in a small town in Scotland where the transport links were good, driving a car was never a second thought. I never took my driving test until I moved to East Dulwich, the transport links just didn't work for me and still don't. I walk locally or take the bus or train when I go into the city, but I don't work in the city and getting there by public transport takes twice the time and twice the cost. In fair weather I cycle but I can't say I enjoy it, but it gets my exercise out of the way and I have secure storage on site to lock it up. The council need to invest their money wisely, in councillors with the right skill set and new transport links rather than put blocks in that has us all divided. Each mind set will never see nor empathise with the other.
  25. This comes up every year. Here's a link to their sustainability report and how much they fundraise for the area. https://thisisgala.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=868824d550e48b37efdf197cc&id=116388d019&e=15e13ced5b
